Finney (#4) makes the final stop • LB Jerry Mixon (#54) makes a stop • Limar (#27) gets stopped for no gain then gets caught behind the line by (#55) Matthew Johnson right after getting the hand-off • Moore (#5) completes about a 10 yard pass to McClellan (#11) • Moore (#5) completes about a 10 yard TD to Bryant (#2) who toe-taps in the back of the endzone • Novosad (#16) completes what looks like about a 20 yard completion to J.Johnson (#9) who makes a great grab staying in-bounds • Novosad (#16) completes about a 10 yard TD pass to Kasper (#3) over being blanked by Offord (#14) right on the endzone sideline • Aaron Flowers (#21) blankets then knocks away a Moore (#5) pass to Sadiq (#18) in the endzone in single covetage • Moore (#5) comes back to Sadiq (#18) for the TD fitting a pass between 3 Duck defenders in Ify (#7), Mixon (#54), and I think Mothudi (#33) • Lanning and Pregnon (#75) end the scrimmage with some positive words

the Boise game is the surprise of the night for me. They no longer have the stud running back, but my sources tell me that they have a lot of talent and production on both sides of the ball returning this year. Suddenly their upcoming game at Notre Dame seems no where near as enticing. To me Nebraska was disappointing. We have a number of Corndawg Nebraska fans on the forum where I participate, and these guys assured us all Winter that Rhule and the Huskers were breaking out big time this year. It could still happen of course, but I saw nothing tonight that would fuel such deep optimism.

Wins are Wins, but Thursday night was a very shaky opening for the Big Ten. It could have been worse, ask the No. 25 G5 PO favorite, Boise. The Broncos traveled to Tampa and walked the plank in Buccaneers Stadium. South Florida 34 - Boise State 7 I'm pretty sure Boise will not be in the next AP Poll Top 25. Week 3, USF travels to Miami to play the Canes. Hmmm?

B1G and SEC want new states. I seriously doubt FSU or Miami gets into the SEC. My best guess is FSU goes B1G and Miami goes to the Big 12 or they stay and become the centerpiece of a depleted ACC. Clemson isn't close to AAU status, so maybe the SEC brings them in despite having South Carolina. Virginia and North Carolina want to be in the SEC and they are in states without a SEC member. Duke brings nothing to football, it's a small private school. I would go out and get ASU if I were B1G to help the western teams like previously mentioned. Notre Dame? Old question, old answer. Until it's forced upon them, they aren't changing. Too many financial and scheduling advantages to join a conference with heavyweights.

People are going to do it, and I say it in advance. Why am I starting it with Montana State? Because if things don't go well at Penn State... We actually had a former FishDuck WRITER who told people to discard their season tickets, never watch the Ducks again, and to avoid this site when we lost the first time in '23 to Washington? Note the word, "former," and I cannot imagine a more over-the-top-reaction than that. A percentage of people do it... But you bring up a good point; it is not just those who vent, but the rest of us who have to restrain ourselves in response. I've been guilty in the past of over-reaction to someone else--it is tough, but we gotta stay strong. Remember, no matter what is written to vent in the GameDay Thread.... I went to the Dean Dome for UNC/Zags. It was th exact opposite of Oregon Football.

It's going to be nice to see a bit of equity here. The number of times a SEC team has been a 10 win team when they really would have most likely been a 9 win team is ridiculous, Ole Miss I'm looking at you!

You went to the wrong sport for NC State and UNC!

Did not realize Oregon's opening opponent (Montana State) beat UT Martin (Oklahoma State's opening opponent) in the second round of the FCS playoffs last year 49-17 (gave me a small "wait what?" kind of moment). It looks like 27-7 just going final. Early returns seem to be Oklahoma State "has not looked great tonight" and been "kinda meh". 360 yards of offense from Oklahoma State (232 passing, 128 rushing, 5.0 yards per play, 20 first downs, 0 turnovers, 225 yards allowed on defense).

I do think this is a good idea, I think for myself, I sometimes do need to vent a little, I would like to think I've always reserved my frustrations for the coaches and not the players. The only time I would say a little criticism is appropriate of players is when they do something like Holden did last year, something that is selfish. Even then, you have to remember that they probably regret their actions and would take them back if they could, usually. I would say there are times I do erase something before I hit submit since I can usually catch myself before I say something that probably is not needed or constructive. With all that said, I can't wait to Jerk about the defense after they give up 3 straight first downs! 😂 Before anybody says anything, that is a joke.

Thank you Charles for this new freedom to vent. It is probably a good thing. However, I know I will find it hard not to come back with a snide comment to any of the “sky is falling”, “fire the coach”, “our coaches/players/play-calling sucks” comments from some of the fans on the page. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, this is a GAME, played by KIDS. That means the ball is going to bounce in funny ways, and kids are going to make mistakes. The doomsayers and negative Nellie’s need to buck up and take a breath before tearing into OBD, cause I for one am gonna have a hard time just leaving those derogatory comments alone. Maybe I will just watch the games And look at comments later. Don’t want to get in trouble for defending OBD from ill thought out, derogatory remarks about my favorite team in CFB.
