Mike, this Duck fan appreciates your optimism about the Ducks beating the Hoosiers. OBD's can win this game. I felt the Ducks could have beaten IU back in October. With 6 plus minutes left in that game, the win was there for the taking. However, OBD's did not play clean mistake free football and handed the victory to IU. That will not be the case Friday night in Atlanta. IU is the very same team as they were in October. More seasoned as they navigated thru their schedule to emerge 14-0 and earn their spot in the semifinals. Well done Hoosiers. OBD's were a group of seasoned portal transfers, uber talented younsters and a returning group of butt hurt, emberrassed players from the Rose Bowl debacle. They had not begun to gel as a team. That is not the case now. Plus, IMHO, the Ducks were sky high from the white out victory and did not take IU seriously. I have been in Texas this week and have listened to different sports talk shows. One show was interviewing Gary Danielson and he said that in their interviews the Ducks were more focused on talking about how great their PSU win was. They had very little interest or respect for IU. Another show had the IU play by play announcer on and he felt the same way. The IU team respected the Ducks and worked hard to pull the win out in Eugene. He knows the Ducks are focused and respect IU, now. They best be! The current version of OBD's will win this game as long as they plsy mistake free and execute. Same narrative as always. Go Ducks.......

I don't get this. Novasad isn't listed on the OUT list either, and he's obviously not going to be there on Friday. Also, the Ducks are in Atlanta now. Is Harris there or not? Don't see any reason to think he's going to play if nobody saw him walk out of the plane. Right? Well...Google says he flew on the plane and is Atlanta. Question answered. Good talk.

Well the supply and demand curves need to be split into two sets... Because for top end talent the demand has NEVER been higher. We are seeing QBs going for 5 mil or something bonkers right now. So the price for the best talent is just going up and is at the highest its ever been. Partly because it's been proven that teams that can acquire the best transfers can potentially be instant CFP candidates... Texas Tech here. Meanwhile... the other side of the talent pool is probably reaching the lowest cost its ever going to be because there is so much supply and the demand for it will be filled mostly by low tier teams that can only afford scholarships at best. Definately a sign of how College Football is diverging into the haves and the feeder schools.

At some point, if there are too many guys in the portal, or guys with questionable past performance stats, then a bunch of them lose leverage for any deal they hoped to achieve. Supply exceeds demand and the price drops. And, or, the scholarship disappears. The dream of sending money home to help mom becomes a disappointment for mom that you didn't keep your scholarship.

Seems to me I read that around 40 to 50% continue with football, but many end up at lower level schools that don’t give full scholarships, or NIL. So a large portion of them leave a scholarship behind.

FWIW, Big Ten headquarters, advised by counsel, believes the agreement is complient with any and all rules. Under the agreement, an adult waived his right to enter the portal and the right to demand that UW put his name in the portal. Before signing, Williams understood the terms and conditions of the agreement. He and his advisers were not deceived by UW. What's UW get? Possibly millions in damages and a precedent that supports the concept that adults are responsible for the agreements they enter into. A precedent that teams should be able to rely on athletes signing revenue-sharing contracts with a school will be on a team's roster. It's not like many adults, right Lane, are great role models. But LSU paid Ole Miss the millions of dollars owed in liquid damages as Miami paid Oregon when Mario left. The deal Williams signed with UW is worth between $3 and $4 million for one season of football. That seems to me to be reasonable compensation. Williams being screwed over? Williams and his advisors knew exactly what he was signing. Unless Williams decided to leave on his own, which I very much doubt, people knowingly interfered with a contract. Some of these people are likely among the folks who advised Williams to sign the contract. Interference with a contract has been a civil offense since the days of English common law.

So, what does UW get if it can enforce a contract? A disgruntled QB who will be a virus in the lockerroom? And, difficult to manage on the practice and playing field? A contract by the way, though voluntarily signed, which may have a restriction that is not compliant with NCAA rules and can't be contracted away? I'm not an attorney, but I did watch a lot of Matlock and Perry Mason episodes. It appears some of the columnist offering opinion on the topic went to the same "law school" as I did.

Looking more and more like Harris will be available Friday. He's not Davison, but he can run and knows the position, playbook and is a bruiser that can block. If he elevates his game he could be a help in that backfield and improve his transfer status.
