  2. Cig seems to be brash mostly when bragging about this coaching accomplishments and is way too smart to give the Ducks bulletin board material. So, let's give him an experience on Saturday to make him more humble (if that's possible, lol).
  3. I'll make this short and sweet--when (not if) CDL breaks through and hosts the big glass trophy, he will skyrocket to the top of the Ducks' coaching fraternity!
  4. The odd thing is they probably should be 3-3, with three very winnable games left in Sam Houston, Lafayette, and Tulsa. They scored with 1:19 left to lead Fresno State 27-26. They dominated the stats (528 yards to 318 and 30 first downs to 15). The game included six botched special team snaps that led in part to 2 missed PATs and a missed FG. Trailed App State 27-21 in the 4th. Threw an interception in the endzone, got the ball back and drove down to 1st and goal from the App State 3 with 1:58 left. Got stuffed on 4 straight runs (one run initially ruled a TD and reversed). Still got a safety and free kick which they drove down to the App State 25 before throwing a game sealing pick. OSU won the stats again (456 to 354 and 27 FDs to 18). Led Houston by 14 in the 4th quarter. Drove down for a long FG attempt to win with 0:05 on the clock and had it blocked, lost in OT. Won the stats again (though closer: 390 to 352 and 22 to 17). If they managed 3-3, their remaining schedule is (Sagarin): Wake Forest: #75 Layfayette: #188 WSU: #99 Sam Houston: #194 @ Tulsa: #160 @ WSU: #99 What should have been a pretty cozy walk to at least something like 7-5 may well end up something like 2-10.
  5. Watched the Indiana v Iowa game and noted that #74 (RG) and #75 (RT) had some serious issues with edge rushers and handling the blitz. They run blocked well but the entire line had pass pro problems that Oregon should be able to exploit. On defense I saw a lot of soft zone that Iowa, not exactly a stellar passing team, found holes in, particularly for the TEs over the middle and WR out routes. If Iowa's starting QB Gronowski had stayed in the game for the last two series, I believe they would have won the game. Indiana has a few vulnerabilities that are ripe for the picking on Saturday.
  6. I think they are trying to keep neutral since both are BIG teams. I think most non-BIG are pointing out Indiana's issues with their O-Line.
  7. I may have missed other discussions about the B1G Network. For me, with Comcast channel 726, B1G Network is a good source of Duck commentary. The program B1G Today has a blurb on Saturday’s game with Indiana that is very good. They point out that Mendoza, Indiana QB, played in Autzen two seasons ago for Cal, so he will not be surprised. Program runs again at 8:00 PM PDT.
  8. Dante No. 1 pick? Dante and the Jets? How about 1 Moore Year where the grass is damn green! Mendoza just under Dante's line at No. 3. QUACK! Four 1st round Ducks! 9. I think Mario's coordinators are first or second year guys....you have to think that Troika will shoot the pooch at some point, no?
  10. Extra special sweet as Browning was the Fusky QB that laid 70 on Oregon in Autzen in 2016. Worst home loss I've ever watched, even if freshman Justin Herbert showed flashes of what he would become. Oregon had won 12 straight over the leg lifters. Fusky ran up the score and Browning taunted the crowd while scoring just for good measure. Classy. Karma is a b*tch

  13. Maybe Mario an develop a Stanford problem like the Ducks experienced on occasion?
  14. CBS autopsy of Texas - Archie isn't the only one who's not golden. As the Texas head coach, Sark is 3-8 vs. top 10 teams. But it's the SEC, so nothing to see here, move right along. Hard to win when one of your starting guards against Florida scores a 'perfect' 0.00 from PFF.🙃 https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/httpswww-cbssports-comcollege-footballnewsarch-manning-struggles-texas-football-offensive-line-transfer-portal/

  17. It doesn’t really matter much to me, because there have been so many great ones (and a few clunkers too). Coach Lanning must juggle so many aspects the others before him never did. Being a head coach today is massively complicated. Lanning sets True North for the program (sic). He has assembled a large and qualified support staff. Together they have greater capabilities and skills than any staff before them at UO. Go Ducks.
  18. There are statistics and opinions in this thread. The RB and OC coaches have all the same information plus they know at game time who is nicked up, distracted by outside life issues , along with which ones practiced and worked harder leading up to the game. They have studied the opposing defense and its tendencies. I’m very satisfied to watch who plays, and their workload as determined by the coaches.
  19. I would say yes, except for two things. One is I do not carry the history of the program that some of you do, Bellotti is the first Oregon coach I remember. And two, it's going to take more than three years to say that. After five years, if Oregon is still on an upward trajectory as it is now (getting to/winning NC game maybe), consistent top 5 team... then yes he's the best ever. I have heard some commentators talking about whether he is the best coach in college football right now. That's another question. What Dan Lanning has done at Oregon is certainly impressive, but that may take a few more years to determine also.
  20. Back here in the east we have become pretty sued to Appy beating some pretty good teams (ask Michigan), not that OSU is pretty good. Beavers are definitely having a rough time.
  21. As it stands now, best coach in Oregon history is Chip Kelly. Once Lanning makes it to a CFP Championship, then I'll anoint him. Also waiting to see the Ducks' defense become consistently dominate. If he neutralizes Indiana's offense, that will go a long way to proving it.
  22. Spartan, in your favor, MIA plays 8 home games this season. Here's what's left for Mario to conquer: Louisville, Stanford, at SMU, NC State, at VA Tech, and at Pitt. Perhaps there will be snow in Pittsburgh? ACC Champ Game - Against UVA? The Cavaliers are undefeated in the ACC. The loss at NC State was a non-conference loss. 🤬 Perhaps another shot to lose late to FSU? IMO, the opponent that should worry Mari-oh-oh the most is Georgia Tech and tough-as-nails QB, Haynes King.
  23. Thanks for an awesome history of Oregon football and their coaches. I, too, go back to watching Cas's teams with Bob Berry. We'd listen to the games on a scratchy radio station in Eastern Washington when we couldn't get tv. It's been a fun ride.
  24. The Browns receive the Bengals 8th-round draft pick and a used whirlpool bath. 🤪
