I continue to be pleasantly amazed at some of the outstanding football minds that regularly post here. Some of the thoughts I read are similar to what I have been thinking, only more eloquently phrased. While I have been somewhat anxious about the game, knowing we have not played anything close to the caliber tosu brings to the table, you remind me that they have not played anyone close to the caliber of OBD! Thomas Tyner, great while played for the green and yellow, medically retired, then came back for a season with the Beavs. Atticus Sappington, great Beavus, came to finish his collegiate career as a Duck. I like to think of both as Ducks, but I know there are OBD fans who disagree. WHAT SAY YOU?

I feel for you dude. Losing a dad is tough. The last game I watched with my dad was in 2019 when the Ducks thumped Montana 35-3. He was 93, and we were able to have a wonderful visit while enjoying a Duck game together. He passed on about two months before COVID hit, and I have always been grateful he didn’t have to experience any of that cr@p.

Boy I dunno about the rest of you, but these late games feel like a crime against humanity. UCLA is out matched and they are playing dirty. The Ducks are taking them to the woodshed anyway. With #2 and #6 losing today, what will OBD be ranked tomorrow (which is already here in most of the country).

Next on the PIG-2 - 6 - 7 radar: Arkansas State Appalachian State Ball State Georgia State Jacksonville State Kent State New Mexico State Texas State. Is any of them naive enough to believe they will step up a notch? The other ‘State’ schools are in the P4 and wouldn’t drop to the lower tier.

The weak decisions do keep coming, and adding some of these “state” institutions has got to be killing their “academic prowess” as well. It must be their academic prowess that has them convinced that a bunch of G5 schools will get reclassified as P4 schools. Don’t see that happening…

Darren, I agree with your statement: While the Ducks did look sharp, let us not forget that the Ducks are a much more talented team than the Beavers. The Ducks are deep, fast, and full of playmakers, and the Beavers are not. However, we could substitute the word “Beavers” with “Vandals” or “Broncos” and would have to say Ducks did not look sharp…

I love the fact that the B1G won one and lost one to the PAC over the weekend, and the right teams won while the deserving teams lost! Bwaa Haaa, Chortle, chortle, yuk, yuk!

I feel the need to apologize to all my Duck buddies here on the OBD Forum with Decorum: I have neglected to put my Ducks ’O’ Flag in my pickup for the first two games this season. I dug it out of my Duck swag box and flew it proudly this week. The results are obvious! Again, my profound apologies for this oversight, and I promise not to take it down until we own the 2023 Natty! Go Ducks!

I want to see the team we all thought they’d be back in mid August. Strong, deep, talented, aggressive and dominating! I want to see a fast start, ownership of the middle 8, capped off by a strong finish. 4 quarters of mistake free football. Am I asking for too much?

Great points Alex, thank you! As usual, the great minds on this forum think alike! In addition to turnovers, the Duck D needs to force Beavus into lots of 3 & outs. While reducing their ToP, it will give OBD plenty of punt return opportunities (which are fun to watch). Next, we must reduce, if not eliminate, the penalties. We cannot afford to keep shooting ourselves in the foot! I agree we cannot allow sacks to DG, but our O line needs to blow open some holes for the running game. That will not only add to our ToP, it will soften them up for some Duck Bombs! If OBD can play to the standard, we will get the 3rd down conversions (along with 1st and 2nd down conversions) that will allow us to own not just the middle 8, but the entire game. Go Ducks!
