Is Bo Nix Oregon’s Best Football Player Ever?
Great ponder point and well written article Alex, thank you! Talk about a loaded question. However, like many of my fellow Duck Buddies on here, I think it is a question with no correct answer. There are just too many variables. Bo got to play under a perfect storm! When is the last time OBD had such a loaded receiver room? What would the record books look like had he played for Rich Brooks or Mike Bellotti? Would Bo have put up the numbers he put up with WT’s O line? What would his numbers have looked like if Mari-no-O was the coach? How about if he had LMJ, Bobby Moore, DAT, or a Rolls Royce in the backfield? Again, just too many variables. Dont get me wrong, I think Bo is, well, Bo-Dacious! He gave us a boatload of great memories and outstanding football. A student of the game, he may have understood his offense schematically like no one else. I look forward to watching him play on Sundays and hope he gets a team that can let him shine. At the end of the day, I think he is destined to be a coach when he is done playing.

Reviewing Oregon's All-Time Receiving Leaderboards Following the 2023 Season
Thank you for sharing that @Pennsylvania Duck! Very cool update. Troy had a great year indeed! I think Tex may surpass him if he sticks around. It was great seeing some of those names from yesteryear, and the memories they brought up. Nice to see a lot of Josh Huff and Jeff Maehl in those lists, two of my all time favorites!

The Fiesta Bowl is a Must-Win Game for Lanning
Nice article David, thanks! I agree with pretty much everything but the title! For me, ‘must win’ insinuates he get fired for a loss, and I don’t see that happening. OBD should win this handily, and give a lot of the future Ducks some meaningful snaps. If, for some obscure reason, the football gods smile on our worthy opponent, and frown on OBD, all will not be lost, we will still have had extra practice time, and next years version of OBD will have had meaningful snaps. Either way, DL and co will be back next year to lead the Ducks to multiple victories in the BIG! Go Ducks!

How to Cook a Steak: I’m Disappointed in Dan Lanning
Obviously you have never fried up fresh venison blackstrap in a cast iron pan,. Not only is it sublimely delicious, the leavings in the pan make the best gravy you will ever taste. Fresh biscuits, blackstrap and gravy is too die for (at least in this ol’ country boy’s mind,)

Updated and Admin Revised: Top Rated Recruiting Class: Who Cares?!
Ok, I don’t know about you guys, but I’ll take Recruiting Prowess over Academic Prowess any day or the week! Thank you @SoGaDawg for reminding me what the priorities are! And THAT is why our record setting class of commitments is important!

QUAAACK, Jericho Johnson is a Duck
defenders who rarely drop into coverage are generally called defensive ends even if they are light like OLBs. Enter the term, “edge defender”. This term was created to denote guys who are the best on the team at rushing the passer - from the edge of the OL.

Beavers Have the SECOND-BEST Recruiting Class in the Conference?
Another way of saying it would be ‘the Beavers have the WORST recruiting class in the conference!’ Just as true, and maybe a little more accurate.

An Oregon National Championship: 'I STILL BELIEVE,' Do You?
I BELIEVE. Everything I see and read points to a trajectory leading upward and onward. Not only do I believe in OBD, I have faith and trust in DL and his staff. As @Charles Fischer alludes to above, this team continues to evolve, and as long as they continue to improve 1% every week, they WILL get back to the NCG, hopefully sooner, rather than later!

Please Rethink the "Civil War?"
I too, am in the minority, and it may indeed be Pollyanna thinking, but I think it will work out that the beavycougs / pac 2 will not get to keep what they did not earn. I believe the $$ in question will be used to settle any unpaid pac 12 debt, and the rest will be equitably split. I also see a lot of value in a 40 mile road trip every other year. As the talent gap widens, OSU will start to resemble Portland State and UO will soon be treating beavus like Stony Brook.

OMIGOSH! Bucky Irving to Play in Fiesta Bowl!
Agree with that Annie! Hopefully JPJ will play a few series with his pals, for fun and the love of the game. It would be awesome to see Stein take them off the field, one per play, to let the fans give each one the cheers they so richly deserve!

Buckeyes About the Ducks: 'Feels Like They Are Building a Monster'
Oregon will be what everyone was expecting USC to be when realignment was announced. Lanning is building a really good program and stacking classes. They’ve been stacking the trenches on both sides of the ball since he got there. Thanks for sharing that @Charles Fischer, it just feels good to know non Duck fans also see that Oregon is a far bigger prize than U$uC for the BIG to get from the west coast!

Did the Oregon Ducks Fail Ty Thompson?
I am also one who thinks it was more timing and circumstance. He was too young and green to beat out Anthony Brrown, and was nowhere near the QB Bo Nix was. Now Dillon comes in, at a level that is arguably better than Bo was when he arrived. While I liked TT, and wanted to see him succeed, the stair he had to climb to get there were just too much. The Ducks did not fail him, he was just the latest in a long list of potential commits who just couldn’t crack the starting lineup. There have been lots of others we thought would be “the guy” who came up short for a variety of reasons. Guys like: Travis Jonsen, Tyler Shough, Jay Butterfield, Jake Rodriguez, Morgan Malahak, Brian Bennett, Robby Ashford, Braxton Burmeister, and Cale Millen, to name some of the more recent.

Ty Thompson Enters Transfer Portal
2 questions for my more knowledgeable fans of OBD? Does this mean Austin Novosad is QB2 for the Fiesta Bowl? Would Dillon Gabriel be able to suit up or is he just available next year?

LaMichael James: College Football Hall of Fame
Totally agree @kirklandduck, very well deserve! He was a stud coming out of the backfield. I still have visions of home. Busting loose and going the distance! I would not be surprised to see him followed by DAT, Kenyon Barner, & MM8, followed by RF, KT and JH!

Okay, I'm Getting Excited About the Fiesta Bowl
I agree @Haywarduck, and I also think it will be a test of the fan base. I think with the national following OBD have built over the years, there will be plenty of green and yellow in the stands. I know we have folks on this site that are not impressed and don’t want to support OBD, or think that our stars should sit this out, but I hope there is enough love of the game in our stars that they will play, and have enough of a route going they can sit the second half. We may not fill the venue, but I hope to see way more Oregon colors than Liberty colors in the stand. As far as I am concerned, players have no greater risk of injury in the last game of the year than they do in the first game of the year. I do not expect to see Bo sacked or even hurried, and he shouldn’t need to run given the weapons at his disposal. The other awesome thing about a NY6 game is the recruiting angle. What a great opportunity for OBD!
-
Bo's Gonna Play!
I hope his decision and example is followed by the rest of those who will move on next year. They should play this c game for each other and to close out a magical season with a WIN! I don’t see any more risk to Bo or any of the others playing this game than any other game. The stakes are certainly higher than they were with Portland State and Hawaii.

Ducks Face the Liberty Flames on Jan. 1
Ok, I will risk getting a stern talking to from Charles, but what a bunch of negativity! (toned down from Negative Nancy’s) C’mon guys and gals, It is a NY6 Bowl game! Have we become that jaded that we are gonna look down our noses at an undefeated opponent? Yes, it could have ended differently, but it didn’t. OBD gets a shot at ruining Liberty’s perfect season. We get another month of practice! Next year’s Ducks gets a chance to gel early. if I were in DL’s shoes, those players who think they are “too good” or “too valuable” to play in a NY6 Bowl game can watch the future of OBD while they practice in preparation for the game. Go Ducks!

See the Other Sites? Good-Gosh I Love You Guys...
Thank you @Charles Fischer for the endless hours you put into making YOUR playground safe for us to play in. We all have opinions, and your Forum with Decorum allows us to safely post our opinions. We can respectfully disagree, but we cannot attack others for their opinions, and thankfully you enforce that. THANK YOU. As fans, we all get riled up at times, and is never easy to see your team lose. Especially to a rival who has a history of low class one up-man-ship. We will NEVER hear the end of their perfect final PAC 12 season in which they beat us twice. While it was no worse then when the Utes did it, the dogs will never let this one lie. At the end of the day, and hopefully before I post, I remind myself the this is a GAME, played by KIDS, and someone always loses. It is not failure, it is coming up short. We all do it from time to time, it is part of being human, and humility m is a good thing.
