Kirby Smart: " Oregon is the Best Team in the Pac-12"
Yeah, he wouldn't say it about any Pac-12 team...but Oregon, Utah it works. It's the Smart thing to say.

Dan Lanning Must Play to Win
I thought the game against FSU was the one, 'that could have gone either way.' But your point is well taken about the mindset of the head coach. Chip always wanted to start the game with the ball, Mario preferred to defer until the second half. Which way will Lanning go?

Oregon Fans: "They Were the Worst," But Now?
USC wasn't hateable under Carroll, thet weren't despised under their Ducks coaches, McKay and Robinson. They were pretty much ignored under Smith and Hackett, and universally loved under Helton. But, without even playing a game under Riley, USC is Enemy No.1 There's nothing the talking heads like more than a story with a built in audience and that's what USC and the Dallas Cowboys have. Both have tradition and glory. But the glory is in the past. 17 Bathrooms hasn't won a game yet, but the Trojans are headed to the playoffs? I personally hope that their new RB, he won't have his name on the back of his jersey, but I'll know who he is, has an awful season. I

Oregon Fans: "They Were the Worst," But Now?
Well, gee, I wish I could buy Mr. Caldwell a drink, to make up for all the all the horrible things all of us Duck fans have done to him and everybody all these many years! It's just so wrong, how we have carried on with callous disregard to all the other schools, teams, mascots and fans. I frankly don't know how we all live with ourselves. Shouldn't we know our place? The Huskies are fine, noble dogs, the Trojans, well yes, a product bought in the back of drug stores, but before then, gladiators and their mascot is big horse! We have a Duck. To Softy, and Ryan Appleby, and Jake Browning and all those other Husky legends, I can only say, 'how great thou art!'

How the Ducks Can STUN the Bulldogs
Joshua, I agree, for Oregon to win, or Georgia for that matter, it has to control the game, and the foundation of that is it needs to stop Georgia's running game. It's that simple, and that crucial. Get Georgia consistently in 3rd and long, and have not that be just what they want against the Ducks D anymore, and the Ducks have a great chance to come out with the W. Of course, that means the Ducks need to be able to run the ball themselves, creating manageable 3rd down situations, and as you noted, tossing in some explosive plays as well. A turnover or two by the Bulldogs would be great, too. Touchdowns of course. But absolutely no empty drives. Missed field goals are a downer every time.

What's Better Than to Start a Season Watching Scott Frost Lose a Close One?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Frost The Colley Matrix recognized the 2017 UCF team as national champions,[8] and the school claims a national title despite not winning the college football playoff. This remains Frost's only winning season as a head coach.

Predicting Oregon: Is Russo Crazy? !!
I remember listening to an interview with an "expert" on the radio a while back. the host introduced him by saying that over the last 5 years he had correctly predicted at least 3 of the Final Four teams! My Aunt Gertrude also did that. He came on and went through the analysis he had come up with and after10 minutes it was reduced to that the teams with the most talent and best coaches have the highest probability of winning!

College Football Returns with a Flash? No, a Flush
Et tu, Carol? It's hard to look at her words and actions and see anything else than a snake and that feckless foursome, Marc Kulkin, Chris Arledge, Erik McKinney, and Greg Katz? Can we be surprised by the collective drivel? USC, right now, before any games have been played is where they love to be, in the spotlight. Imagine the squeals of delight after they cover against Rice!

Can Dan Lanning Fail?
At Alabama failure is not winning the Natty. I don't know, perhaps one of the Georgia fans posting here can say if not repeating as Champs will be viewed as failure by the Georgia faithful? So far Lanning and staff haven't missed a beat, it's impossible that they won't trip up somewhere. But that won't signal, Fail! He has a lot of pressure on his shoulders now. Head coach of a dominant brand in college football. Expectations are through the roof. He hasn't raised his arms to bring them down, nor has he promised to run the table. He's handled everything like he's been there before, even if he hasn't. After the game he's going to look just right in that big chair the Oregon coach sits in and I expect he'll handle every question, spreading praise all around, taking all the blame. I'm so happy that he's our coach!

Gonzalez the Next Lockdown Corner?
As good a weapon as possible for a defense. Deion Sanders made the HOF's and maybe made 5 tackles in his combined college and pro career's.

Any Bets (Gentlemanly) on the Outcome?
Whoever it was that mentioned Georgia's TE's needs to apologize to the rest of the people living in my apartment complex as the UGA TE's have caused me to scream uncontrollably day and night. Aside from their presence what I also see affecting the o/u is the pesky turnover early in the game.

What B1G Football Road Game Would You Like?
Definitely at Penn State. I have a memory of being seated right behind Ki-Jana Carter when took the handoff in the first play of the '95 Rose Bowl. I need to replace that!

Oregon Ducks Football: No Half-Measure in 2022
I agree with this completely. The kid was a class act every minute he was a Duck. Watching it frustrated us, imagine how it felt to go out there play after play? Yet after every game he was a leader as much as were Marcus or Justin, never came close to throwing anybody under the bus, and he heard the booing.

Is Lanning Taking Secrecy TOO FAR?
I'm with you. When the game starts on Saturday, and I see who the QB is, or the WR's or TE or whoever, that's fine with me, and if it keeps the opponent in the dark, then absolutely it's the right move.

Trojans Wire: 'We Can Debate USC vs Utah, But Trojans Are Clearly Better Than Oregon'
Blitzing and booing is what USC needs to face at every road game this season, nonstop. They won't get booed at home, SnoopDogg will just stop driving the bandwagon and the Coliseum will look like Autzen, 1972. A great point was made earlier, Oregon doesn't write articles about how much better they are than USC and UW, it's Scoreboard, baby. Riley is the big shiny jewel that Cowherd can lap up, Lanning is boring, all he did was lead a historic defense to a Natty. Every time that Williams gets knocked down and that Transfer RB gets stood up, a bell will ring, and we can smile.

Oregon Football All-Time Roster: Defensive Starters and Backups
I have far fewer problems with this than I did with the offensive list, of course Ngata is there, and yes, TJ Ward!

How Loyal Will Dan Lanning Be to Oregon? (Here is the Answer)
I already think Lanning's a great coach and he hasn't even coached a game yet, and his first game is only against his old team, the defending champion. This is the story I'd have written in the sixth grade. Chances are he could make a mistake. He hasn't yet, and I don't feel like losing to Georgia would be one. But sometime Coach Lanning might make a mistake. As Canzano mentioned, the other coaches all had specific characteristics, haven't picked that up in Lanning yet. But I feel safe in thinking that he'll have the Ducks ready ay kickoff and whether the game starts great or goes off track, he'll deal with it. I hope he's the last Oregon football coach I'll see.
