Miami Claims 'Ill Prepared'... Shocker!

Reminds me of when we were ill-prepared and lacking the proper attitude. Strange days, indeed. -
Ducks vs Arizona: Game-Prep Article Thread

As a fan who knows nothing, except what I learn here, I would love to see Bassa at Safety with Sewell and Flowe at ILB's. -
Ducks vs Arizona: Game-Prep Article Thread

Nick Aliotti on PAC-12 After Dark: 1. Oregon has had difficult games in Tucson (understatement of the year) 2. If they start slow with penalties and drops like against Stanford, they could be challenged. 3. If deLaura has a Cam Ward game and #2 happens, all bets are off. My thoughts: 1. I am less worried about penalties and discipline, but still worried, because we have a scoring offense again. 2. I am less worried about penalties and discipline, but still worried, because in addition to coaches who like scoring, we have coaches who can scheme, adjust and motivate properly. 3. Thankfully, our coaches highlighted transfers who make an impact. Without the DL, RB, and QB transfers, we would be toast. 4. Related to #3, if we lose Nix to injury.....fuhgeddaboutit.....so Bo, slide please. Freakin dude plays like an LB. 5. My gut tells me that the amount of plays in a Duck uniform that Justin Flowe ever has will be very limited. Some guys have injury bugs while other guys never get a scratch. Bassa is excellent, but LB health is now an official concern for me. Hope to H, E, double hockey sticks, I'm wrong. -
Amazing the lengths we go isn't it? My wife insists on Turner Classic Movies. And, I pay the extra for that one channel with a big, fat smile on my face.

In the NIL/transfer portal/coach carousel/new media era why wouldn't you take every trip possible? Collect as many swag bags, booster bucks, free trips, and Tweets as possible. Build your brand, TCBin', YOLO and all that is the name of the game nowadays, or so I have been told many times in defense of these changes.

Would Oregon Fan Base Welcome Nix in 23?
idontrollonshobbas replied to Log Haulin's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The old model of "sign and develop" can work if you have a pipeline of talent and coaching consistency. Like a BYU for example. The new model of pay through the nose for a 5 Star is expensive (which comes with opportunity costs) and relies on good recruit analysis skills by coaches. With the portal, you can buy insurance for your QB strategy either way, so it's going to be a solid option until the market dynamics change. Assuming DL, KD and Co. stick around for a half decade, I am cool with them swinging for the fences on 5 star QB's they like (I trust their player analysis chops) but am happy with 4 stars augmented by transfer vets as needed. -
DL has said that the benefit of a deep RB room is that you can ride the hot hand while other guys recharge. Keep fresh legs on the bench. Cardwell and others will get carries....it's a long season.

A Fun Post to Lighten Up Your Day
idontrollonshobbas replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I took an Italian course for travelers one summer. It was packed with demur retirees with soft-spoken personalities. After the first week, the instructor showed us some Italian TV clips and excoriated us to use our hands, feet, and eyebrows to accentuate the every syllable. The level of Italian rose dramatically after that. For help with German, watch Hogan's Heroes and then Downfall. -
There Is More than One Way to Coug It
idontrollonshobbas replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I read your post, Charles and realized "Hey that sounds familiar!" I did the exact same thing that day.....who knows we may have been standing right next to one another. I am ashamed at my behavior when the Ducks are losing. I am an irredeemable quack addict. -
Seen enough yet?

Wait until basketball season when PAC-12 officiating makes 40 minute games last 2.5 hours and kills all game flow. #deargodpleaseswallowyourwhistle

IMHO, Ward and Wazzu played 3.5 quarters of unbelievable offense, abetted by unfamiliarity, a wide open playbook, unbelievable luck to escape losses (Ward's pitch over a defender is a disaster 99% of the time), dumb penalties on our part, crappy officiating, and home field mojo. In Autzen that score is much different. Though the officiating crappiness would still be there. Oregon took Wazzu's best shot and then some.

Recruiting Linemen in Our New System
idontrollonshobbas replied to idontrollonshobbas's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I did notice that Riley and Rogers started on the DL....new transfers in this year. -
If you were a HS lineman who had been considering Oregon before, wouldn't you be even more interested now given the play of both lines through 3 weeks? I think Klemm and Tuioti have these lines playing more cohesively than they ever did under Web Ewbank (our last coach whose scheme antiquity set us back to the 50's) and Lupoi and Dilly schemes make the game fun and challenging, as opposed to pounding sand each play. So, you big fellas out there looking for a landing spot, come on down!

I love that Lanning highlighted having to work on his coaching approach during SHOUT Mentioned (tongue-in-cheek) needing to establish possible performance criteria for players to be eligible to dance because he wants to do some coaching up on the sideline prior to resumption of play. Will the Real Noah Sewell Please Show Up.
idontrollonshobbas replied to jrw's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Short passes to the perimeter and long balls to the non-Gonzo side of the secondary are where we are being attacked. LB's are going to be neutralized somewhat by that approach.....except Bassa, and to a lesser degree Brown, who can cover in space. Bassa was on fire from what I saw -
Will the Real Noah Sewell Please Show Up.
idontrollonshobbas replied to jrw's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Lanning's quote in last week's presser when asked about Noah indicated that they are using NS in different positions within multiple packages. My take on that was they want him to be the focus of the Offense's shifts to allow others to gain keys on the play and disrupt....to decoy and take on 2 blockers essentially. -
Nebraska Fires Scott Frost
idontrollonshobbas replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Scott Frost has epitomized The Peter Principle for over a decade now. Each successor that followed him on his career climb while at Oregon outshined him. I don't say this out of any animosity towards the guy....I was psyched when Chip brought him in.....he just seemed underwhelming to me. Except when he held back LGB from tearing Bryon Hout's head off.....now that was impressive and exceeded my expectations. -
Pac-12 Taking Tons of Applications to Join?
idontrollonshobbas replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Add SDSU, Fresno St., UNLV, Nevada, Utah St. and Colorado St. There is some symmetry there and geographic rivalries could spur these schools to up the ante on their programs. Will it compete with the 2 big leagues? No. But that ship has sailed already. Bring back the (now Pac16) championship game and hold it in the new LA Stadium. Then go beat out-of-conference teams in bowl games -
With so many weapons, distribution will be wide, making a skill player an outside bet. So, a QB, as David Marsh said is the easy choice. For a flyer, I would look at a receiving TE. Dilly's offense will unleash this position. In a feel good story for the ages, I am placing my bet on Cam McCormick. May the Schwartz be with us.
