  1. Tyrone caught my eye a few times against A&M....he drives to the hole with some authority
  2. The last staff's supposed expertise was O-line. Maybe it was, but the offensive scheme never used the expertise. Lots of sacks, and RB's in the A gap getting scrummed. The same dudes, with a better coach and scheme are crushing their previous performance. That said, if Forsyth is dinged up and can't go, I am concerned this weekend.
  3. Pre-CFP Oregon had to schedule tough non-conference games to get traction in polls with strength-of-schedule since we played one more conference game to our detriment. At least that's how I remember it used to be....but take me with several grains of salt.
  4. Got my chips cashed in.....like the doo-dah man!
  5. Coach appears to be a rare talent in one sense at least: high IQ and EQ. He knows the game inside and out plus he is able elevate his coaches and players to high level of collective performance. In my time on many Boards, in the for- and non-profit sectors, these are the executive candidates that entities pine for and seldom find. Thanks, Joshua for a fine read!
  6. In this Dillingham interview with Feldman at one point in discussing his creativity, he says "The best coaches aren't stubborn....they continue to learn and grow." I instantly thought of MariØ
  7. Partly cloudy high 40's small chance of rain. Perfect conditions to whoop some Hooskies. Although I find myself with a tamped down hatred this year due to the Jimmy Lake firing. I need to build up my Kaelen De Boring antipathy. Hopefully, Coach KDB will give me some bulletin board material this week. Jimmy had a good trash talk game that he couldn't back up with gridiron prowess.
  8. Same story ever since Seattle entered the NFL......main reason I am no longer an NFL watcher until Wild Card playoffs begin. Nothing better than NFL playoffs in Pro Sports, Stanley Cup is a distant number 2, IMHO
  9. I love a redemption story......especially one that involves a transfer QB for OBD. As an old Duck Fan who has seen some ups and more than a few downs, how great would it be to have Bo win the Heisman and the Ducks get to the CFP in Year 1 of the Progrum? To sleep...perchance to dream.
  10. That would be interesting.....ponderous even.
  11. It looks like Steven Jones may be back now. Plus we will have JPJ, Jaramillo, Harper and Conerly with significant snaps this year. The Laloulu brothers, Bailey Jaramillo, Bram Walden, Michael Wooten plus Silva, and Baker round out two-deep. Most of those guys will have playing experience and/or two offseasons with Klemm. I think we will be solid on the line next year. But they need some bigtime guys in 2024 class for sure. Plus, who knows what the Portal may bring......likely a couple of additions over the next 2-3 months.
  12. MariØ is in full spin mode to try and salvage his reputation. As he grasps for straws, he sees his old squad winning and he wants some cred for himself. Shallow and self-serving, reeking of desperation and not a good look overall.
  13. It's amazing how the outlook has changed around Duck Football from 10 short months ago.....Progrum Management overall is vastly improved and the results are showing.
  14. Based on what I have read and heard (and seen), there is evidence that the LB corps is underperforming. PFF and NCAA metrics are cited by those making this argument. I think Mr. FishDuck has hit on the main reasons why. Like the OP, I was jazzed to see Sewell and Flowe play together and am equally shocked by the underperformance. At the start of the season, I thought "Finally the Ducks don't have talented undersized LB's....we have a tandem of 5-star Monsters of the MIdway!" I guess the good news is that Flowe may come back for one more season at this point....unless he goes ballistic the rest of the way, which wouldn't be bad for OBD at all! Add me to the list of the dumbfounded.
  15. How many more Miami games is Portland's Riley Williams going to watch before he transfers back to Central Catholic from Miami IMG and decommits from Mario? Credit to Matt Prehm at 247 for dangling this enticing possibility.
  16. Beat me to it.....the new-NCAA has a very Peter Lorre vibe about it.
  17. Chip caught a lot of people off guard......
  18. Watching Tennessee-Bama and the officials are leaving the flags in their pockets. While the flow of the game is good, a couple of uncalled penalties were of the targeting variety and fairly egregious. While the flag-happy PAC-12 officials drive me nuts, these SEC guys may be too lenient from a player safety standpoint. To the credit of the coaches and players, both sidelines have remained calm.
  19. Duly noted. And apologies to any offended.
  20. I hope he sticks around and Dontae Moore is his next QB
  21. Giving to OHSU guarantees the money goes directly to research and treatments. Giving to a non-profit pays the salaries of the non-profit first.
  22. This will probably make me persona non grata but... The awareness month schtick has outplayed its usefulness. When every month is labeled (fill in the blank) Month it becomes perfunctory. Also, breast cancer research is already extremely well-funded. But, the deadliest cancers have a fraction of the funding that breast cancer does. So, if we're going to do this, let's just have "Cancer Awareness" and then there's no need for pink uniform embellishments and we can help even more people. Win-win. Many of the deadliest cancers receive the least amount of research funding NEWS.NORTHWESTERN.EDU ‘Embarrassing’ or stigmatized cancers like lung and liver are underfunded
  23. Thanks Ktmguy for taking the time to fill me in.....sounds like an upgrade in scheme and technique is sparking the improvement. This staff has elevated the quality of play dramatically so far.
  24. There were times last night when Gonzo seemed to play a nickel spot with 2 CB's? But I don't trust my old eyes to say so for sure
