Not the least bit worried...

Very, very cool. Goes to show how the staff identified his full upside, and got the job done in recruiting. I am behind the news cycle, but over on On3 was quite a bit about how Zac Stascausky jumped up massively in final rankings of 2025, to not only be one of the best tackles in the class, but the No. 45 player among all positions. He was a 3-Star originally, and the staff worked hard to turn him from Washington, and then he jumped to a Rivals 4-Star as the season progressed, and now he lauded as a very athletic offensive tackle. It would be a terrible waste of his recruiting skills, IMHO.

Rueben Droughns would have KILLED IT in a Spread Offense... The late Jerry Thompson, a great friend I loved as a super Duck-Buddy, and miss, wrote this great FishDuck article about Droughns.

I have business associates that are Huskies, and I hold my nose when talking football with them. After we're done with that part of the conversation, I will tell them that since I uttered the "H" word, please pardon me while I turn to spit. It is funny, but there is some truth to it! You ARE in the first group, and frankly among the rare souls who are reasonable. I thought this forum would be five times bigger than it is at this time, but what I painfully learned is that most people do NOT want civility. They will leave as soon as they are simply "notified" that they broke a rule. I wasn't warning them, or banning them...just notifying them that they broke a rule and please be more aware going forward. Now let's forget about it and move forward...but they want to fight it. Sigh. So they leave because they love everyone being polite and respectful to them, but they want exceptions made for their behavior. Meanwhile we pick up great new people who love what we have, so the fun continues. So we have a small but very savvy community that I just love. You fit in wonderfully, and I wish we had another 30 or so people like you here. Thought you might enjoy this...

The B1G had four teams that finished in the top-ten with Indiana at No. 10. Pretty cool...

This topic I've given more thought to, as I may have been a bit too flip in an earlier post. David makes a great point about the defense being "Not quite right," and some of the information and discussion in this thread has been extraordinary. It is this community at its best... When I began writing about the MINT defense three years ago--it was acknowledged that it required three "freak" athletes of which are hard to find, to recruit and develop. Clearly, Lanning has good athletes, but not the freaks he needs yet. There are other signs that point to David's premise, for example when players do better when they leave Oregon and go to the NFL? I never thought Evan Williams would even make an NFL roster, let alone be a star for Green Bay. He was a good college player, but not THAT good. Hence it makes you wonder if our defensive alignment did not hold him back?

You know...even if the Private Equity makes a boatload of money....the chances are excellent that the athletic departments will make more with their minority share than they are now. Because if the ADs did not see the opportunity before...how would they have the expertise to capitalize on it now?

Usually it is Oregon, but this year with their embarrassing loss to the Cougars...

Boy isn't that the truth. I would not want to be in a top-heavy conference if I was not one of the heavyweights, but fortunately--we are.

If private equity wants in....that is a terrible reflection of college athletic administration management. That means ADs have SO MISSED so many opportunities the outside investors not only see, but believe they can make huge returns on their investment. PE does not want a nice return; they look for B1G returns, and that means a TON has been left on the table by ADs in the B1G...

In the pondering for this article....I completely changed my views. For the reasons in the articles--I want a Top-Heavy conference, and never thought I'd feel that way.

This supports what Jon Joseph stated the other day, (I believe it was him) that our defense was good against the non-elite teams, but when faced with top-5 teams...it was not good against Penn State (No 5 in the final poll) and Ohio State, who finished No. 1 for 2024. So it wasn't the Flu?

Lanning has made a commitment to this defense, and recruited the players for it, thus I believe he has to stay-the-course as they mature into their roles.

If you are NOT an Oregon fan and you are on this forum? You guys have added so much interest these last few months, and it really helps me to see opinions and perspectives outside of my Eugene, Oregon blinders. Oh sure, there are occasional issues with the other CFB fans, but not any different than with Oregon fans. Bottom line is that there are great, reasonable people at all schools who love college football as we do. And not only do I want to say "Thanks," but wish to encourage you to continue posting your thoughts and...send other fans along! Fans from all schools are welcome here! As long as you abide by our rules...and you all do--we would enjoy your thoughts, and feedback on the coming season. Know anyone who is a B1G fan? I'd love more of them here to give us their thoughts... Fun times coming!
