  1. I guess the real issue isn't just losing that first game, but how bad they looked playing the game. Those issues clearly look like coaching issues too. In the modern era of CFB, being an "old blueblood" isn't enough. The best players are demanding huge sums of $$ to play. NIL deals make any school look attractive. The SEC doesn't mean more if they aren't willing to pay more. Before all the $$, getting to a Bowl game was the sign of a good season. Something more than 60 teams could do every year. Now it's all about making the playoffs. Something only 12 teams can aspire to. So early seasons losses to teams you're supposed to bear, just mean more. 'Bama is no longer "the" place. And besides, whoever coaches there will always be compared to Saben. That's an impossible act to follow. We are so blessed to have coach Lanning. Gotta admit it's a little fun watching the mighty blueblood 'Bama realize they may just be average, or worse.
  2. Those Bellichec memes were hysterical! Thanks for sharing. 🤣🤣
  3. Regarding arm strength, Dante fired 2 balls Sadiq couldn't get his hands around. He zipped those balls too fast for Kenyon. KS needs to practice with the jug machine turned up high!
  4. Hey JJ, A win is a win. 😉 Just ask Boise. Remember our last year start? I'm glad to see the 4-0 start. Can hardly wait for Sat! I think MSU Bobcats may be tougher then most think. Sorry, I'm just anxious. Go Ducks! Crush them 'Cats!
  5. https://youtu.be/ks9ooB0DMoM?si=b_kGWW7rJQUTZMSm Check out this awesome video!
  6. I love the walk from campus to Autzen. Over the river, and through the woods... "You'll hear it, long before you see it"
  7. Thank you Charles for this site. I am so ready to read and learn more from all the intelligent followers here. It seems like it's been forever since last season. I'm tired of reading about politics, let's get to what's important, DUCK football!!! Let's sco!
  8. I read somewhere she is pregnant. Wowser.
  9. I see some potential issues with the new delay of game against defense as refs adjust to trying to call this. Oregon D moves a lot presnap. Looks like it is a pretty subjective call. Also diving on loose balls. That always creates pandemonium. Will late guys in to the pile get called? Oh well. Bring it on. Let the games begin!
  10. "Are you ready for some F O O T B A L L?" YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I realize it's a new era, but it's hard for me to think paying kids to play football in college is OK. I'm not wanting to get into it, I've read all the reasoning, I get it, this is what it is. The real issue for me is jealousy. I went to college. I worked 45 years, 50-60+ hrs/wk. Split days off. Not once did I come close to making 6 figures in 1 year! I would have played for free at Oregon, course I wasn't near good enough. Oh well. Is it Saturday yet?
  12. Was great to see. Nice flip too! Several Ducks had great showings this past weekend. Hope they all survive the cut to 53.
  13. I expect both Cal and Stan will kill football program before too long. Paying athletes goes against school's ideology. As for the Pac(S)8, they have made themselves all but irrelevant. Fresno St got hammered by Kansas? Those 4 teams OSU, WSU, Cal & Stan were seldom more than mediocre. They each had a season or two of success but little effort to grow or sustain it. They've earned their current position.
  14. It is what it is. And will always be thus. Just win baby. Just win. Frankly, I don't care what they think. Except when we need votes for rankings purposes. The defense in the post season is still being held against us also. No doubt we will surprise a lot of so-called football gurus this season. Sco Ducks!!
  15. This will be helpful for teams to schedule better teams, maybe help push the SEC to 9 conference games. But it's why I hate preseason prejudicial rankings. They influence mid-season rankings and make some teams look better for early wins, or now losses.
  16. I surmise like most of you that Dante Moore will get the start. I also expect the team will know going into next week's practice as it is game week and the starter will need reps with the 1's. Not naming a starter publicly says 2 things to me: Both Austin and Dante are ready to lead this team DL is respecting both players right to the end of fall practice. This should be a fun year!
  17. Seems to be working now. Thanks Charles.
  18. This is precisely why I hate preseason polls. ESPN carries water for the SEC and it's obvious. I thought playing the games meant something. You know, settle it all on the field! Not basing positions based on recruiting and last years results. We must demand all D1 teams in P4 conference play 9 conference games. Make a level playing field for subjective vote casting. "It just means more"? Right. More $$$ in their coffers. Only if we, the B1G let them get away with it.
  19. Montana St. is no guaranteed win. We start a new qb, new wr's, and a young unproven bunch of linebackers, not to mention a new safety. Sure, these guys are all studs but still have much to learn at game speed. The Bobcats are very well coached. Football is a team sport. A missed read, a missed tackle or a missed block, could lead to this game being much closer then we would like. Btw, do we even know for sure who is starting qb?
  20. Preseason rankings won't even get you a coffee at Dunkins! No rankings should be allowed until at least after week 5. But, it is what it is. Starting in the top 10 is nice. It reflects DL's recruiting prowess. But this year's success will be determined mostly by how successful the QB position plays. We look solid on D and the O-line. The RB room is very deep. But we are very unproven at WR and QB. This will be a season where coach Stein earns his salary. Can he design game plans to let our qb's and wr's shine? That's my big question.
  21. I remember those early years. You have helped me learn so much about our Ducks and the game itself. I wear my Fishduck polo with pride.
  22. Thanks for the chuckles, Charles. It's fun living rent free in their minds!
  23. Definitely a great get! It's a little hilarious to think a month or two back people thought Oregon was losing it on the recruit trail. I'm laughing all the way to the playoffs!!
  24. Awesome. Now we have a 'tank' to go with our 'Jett'. We also have a 'Messiah' to go with our 'Immanuel' And we have a 'Prince' to sing along with our leave it to 'Beaver'. Whom did I leave out?
