OSU Beavers Claim Pac 2 Championship
While I don't disagree with anything posted, I do recognize that beating the Beavs was more enjoyable when they were a G4 team. Now it's like beating up a 1st grader. I almost feel like a bully! (Almost) To me the saddest thing is even their fan base doesn't go to their games. They've had loads of empty seats every game except against us. Have y'all noticed how much green & yellow have been at all our away games?! Not only are our fans traveling, but apparently we have many fans in B1G cities! I did love what the WSU coach said about them not being 'buddies'. He is right. If given an opportunity, the Beavs would have left them in a heartbeat. Though they brought about their own demise, we can afford a little generosity. It was a very entertaining win for their faithful. And for those Beaver fans we all work with, we can congratulate them on their only Pac2 championship, as we celebrate our Natty win!

Can the Ducks Peak? How Many Losses for Oregon in the SEC?
It seems that we have all been so inundated with how great the SEC is all these years that we believe that exaggeration unquestionably. Remember, they only play 8 conference games. If we had played Mercer instead of WU last sat, we'd be thinking how great we were. The "playoff" structure has favored the SEC since the BCS days. That's why they have won so many titles. Imagine if they played 9 conference games, half would have 1 more loss. You would end up with a lot more 8-4, 9-3, even 7-5 records. The result, fewer high ranked teams. If Oregon played the SEC this year, I believe we would beat everyone except maybe Georgia (always tough to beat your former headcoach). We've had some issues, but since OSU, we've been rolling. The offensive letdown at WU can be written off as 8 in-a-row fatigue. Every team has a game or 2 each year like that. Remember, we beat tOSU without Burch. WU without our #1 receiver Tez. We may not be undefeated in the SEC, but I'm sure we'd be playing for the SEC championship. Our team is special this year and DL is finding creative ways to keep them motivated and focused. I for one don't buy the SEC hype. Our Ducks are the real deal. Thanks Darren for a great conversation starter.

OBD Prediction Contest Winner Wasn't Even Close!
For the record, I predicted the correct score for Wisconsin, I was just off by 23 for the Ducks. 🙄

Kirby is Smart and He Has a Point
It is frustrating. What, indeed, are the criteria?!? Does anyone know? Indiana blows out Nebraska on the road, tOSU struggles against Neb at home, but the Bucknuts are better? Boise keeps winning and they drop out of the top 12? Clearly the ACC and Big12 don't look as tough as other conferences... Wisconsin loses to teams with worse records than ours, but we need a 4th qtr comeback to win?! I would prefer the committee to post open guidelines preseason to avoid the look of bias and favoritism.

Dan Lanning is Playing the Long Game
Great article David. I believe no doubt that Lanning is playing the long game. 12 regular season games, (8 in a row!) and then the potential of 5 or 6 more games in the playoffs?! When you realize all the little play calls they have planned, prepared and executed: fake punt, crazy line up to kick a punt, drawing a penalty, the 12th man penalty, and so many more, I gotta believe that Lanning and coaches are very detailed oriented and have not only a master plan for the long season, but specific plans for each game. He will have them ready for the championship run.

Wisconsin Could Beat Oregon, Brian Jones Says They Will.
Didn't he pick Michigan to best us also? This is just wishful thinking on his part. They don't like the idea of the "new kids" of the B1G coming in and dominating. No worries. After last week our boys will be more focused than ever.

Somebody Is Spanking SUC!
I guess probation could be problematic for a team that thinks they are above the law...but otherwise it seems like very silly, non-affective penalty. The extra coaches just get 6 days of vacation. I do enjoy a good piling on of USuC!

Stewart Mandel Predicts Ohio State as B1G Champion...
It almost seems to me that Mandel and others have put $$$ down on tOSU to win it all preseason. That would explain the bias and blinders. Oregon doesn't play their best and immediately we're the problem. Alabama lost to Vanderbilt and almost to a UGA team that's struggling. tOSU almost lost to Nebraska after losing to us (when we left 8-12 points in the field). Why are we the only team to get down graded after less than perfect game?! All I can say is, bring em all on. Lanning is prepared for a 2nd season. Is anyone else? Maybe having a late bye will end up being a blessing.

USC Losing 5-Star QB Commit?
It appears CU is willing to spend more NIL $$, or whatever it's called now. Plus CU is trending up where as USuC is in a death spiral. Add that the Big12 is easier then the B1G.... And, C. Williams is struggling in the NFL, maybe Riley isn't the qb whisperer everyone thought. The times they are a-changin.

Oregon vs Maryland Post Game Discussion Thread
I'd say toss the film of this game and move on. The previous 6 games have all mostly been very good. Just reset for the Badgers. All teams have a game like this, and we still won by 21. It could be much worse. It is hard to get 'up' every week. I do think that losing Tez makes 3rd downs more difficult. And as pointed out by Charles, our backup O-line men are not as excellent as the starters. So we deal with some adversity, and recover and clobber Wisconsin. Don't dwell on this one poor outing.

Indiana offense looks like ours. Their d line is giving UM O-line fits. Could they be the real deal? Still got to get by tOSU though.

Forget the "Six Million Dollar Man" Michigan NIL Deal for Top Player in 2025 is Closer to 10 Million
Moves like this are not good for anybody. Can't make the NFL too happy either. Remember, MSU was one of the first schools to sign a 10 year 95M coach contract. How'd that work out! What is wrong with this state?!? Brain freeze from the cold north winds? Oey vay!

Should the Heisman Award Date be Moved?
I think differently. How can you be the best player if your team isn't at least considered one of the best. I understand your point, but to be the best, you must play against the best every week. The BSU kid is great, no doubt, but the MWC is not the B1G or the SEC. The Colorado kid, the BIG12 is weak! Ward, the ACC is less then weak!! Great players, probably great NFL careers, but today's best college player plays against the best every week. Dillon Gabriel.
-
Should the Heisman Award Date be Moved?
I agree with your premise David. But the Heisman is for the regular season. Including the playoff isn't fair to those who don't make the playoffs. That said, if we are going to have such a long extended playoff, maybe things should be reconsidered. Surely the best player will be on one of the 12 teams. Or, come up with a new award for the playoffs. I know I'm prejudiced, but only one candidate of these 4 players is in a top flight conference each week. I think even Purdue would look better if they played in any of the other 3 conferences. And doesn't character count for something? Gabriel has just been cool, calm, accurate, consistent and the consumate leader week after week. And in his first year on the team. He makes his playing look effortless. Yeah, he's had a few misses, but look at those victories! Oh yeah, that team is not just ranked #1 but playing the best football right now too. Until they change it, the best player in CFB is on the best team. Period.

Remember: NO POLITICS, No Reference to It, No Innuendos....NOTHING
C'mon Charles! It's national election day! You need to allow some leeway.... ...OK. maybe not. I get it. I LOVE my Fishduck! Go Ducks! Destroy Maryland!!

Oregon Back On NBC for Wisconsin Game at 4:30 PST
They didn't think tOSU would have issues with noise in little ol' Autzen. They didn't think we could go into the B1G house and roll Michigan. Now they think making us play a night game in Madison, with those chill north winds, will be too difficult. Once again, our boys will show them. 8 in a row. Night game. No worries. Besides, if they don't already, Nike will come up with the gear needed to keep the boys warm. C'mon Ducks! Badger the Terps! Terp the Badgers!

B1G Football: Some Say “Physicality.” I Say “Bad Offense.”
Maybe it's just a down year for great qb's. Seems a lot got drafted last year. To have a great offense, need a great qb. And a good O-line. And good receivers. Oh yeah, a run game too. Like our Ducks!

Oregon Unanimous No. 1 in AP Poll for First Time in School-History
Apparently the media storm (drizzle) against Wilner paid off. First week he has put us at #1.

Evan Stewart's TD Catch Was Good
The call that canceled the amazing catch by Evan was the correct call. It was unfortunate because he wasn't blocking anyone, no defenders close. He just took 2 steps too many and was standing watching DG throw. Was a ticky tacky call, but couldn't argue it. Truly an amazing catch anyway.
