  1. You know, I'm already tired of trying to determine why the collapse. It's over. There's no going back. Finding someone(s) to blame is truly a needless, pointless endeavor. There will be no "stopping this in the future". It's done. WSU, OSU and the others saw the same 'writing on the wall'. Like everyone else in the world, you gotta take care of home first. One last Pac12 season is left. And by all accounts, it should be one of the best one in decades! I can't wait until we are talking about the games! I mean seriously, the Pac is really loaded this year. Let's play ball! (Sorry for ranting)
  2. It depends totally on what Fox wants. To add the 2 schools requires Fox to pay up more $$. Also, a 20 team league really makes scheduling more difficult. Lastly, is the Bay area really that desirable? They lost a hockey team, a basketball team, a football team and now the baseball team wants to move to Vegas. Attendance at the 2 schools is poor. I would not offer them any $$. Both schools are outstanding academic bastions of learning, but who pays to watch that?!
  3. Lannings buyout, should he leave, is 20M. That's a lot for any team to pay to get a coach, regardless of how good he is. While I wish the Pac could have stayed together, being part of the B1G will only help our football team. Should also help all other teams. Regarding long flights, perfect time for online classes, or even team meetings. Seeing us play B1G teams regularly, without having to wait for Rosebowl, is a dream come true.
  4. Whatever USuC fans think about how great they used to be, all current high school kids have seen how Oregon has been better on the field for these kids entire lives. So the past 15 years is the timeline of influence for all high school recruits. Couple that with coach Lanning &Co recruiting skills, why would any serious kid go to LA?! Think about the current flip, Dakoda Fields, all DL has to say is look how many UGA kids got drafted to NFL. We run the same D. We develop players. We win games. It's a no brainer. I think Trojan fans inhale too much wild-wood-weed to have a firm grasp of reality
  5. If my memory serves correctly, OSU was one of the biggest supporters of Larry Scott, who most give a lot of blame to for contributing to the Pac12 demise. Except for last year and a couple other years in the past 25, neither WSU or OSU have done much in any sport. Baseball clearly has been successful for the Beavs, but it loses $$ every year. Baseball can continue to be successful as many Group of 5 schools currently are. While I feel a little bad for their current athletes, don't we all think that the Beavs and Cougs have always been a better fit for the Mt. West. Maybe the Beavs should paint their field orange and black. They'd fit right in.
  6. I think the major players would prefer the west coast teams to continue to beat up each other. Having UW, USC and UCLA every year would help increase odds of a loss before playing the other B1G teams. Remember, all decisions are what's best for tOSU and UM.
  7. I wonder how long it will take to see the major players in Autzen. I'm guessing we see Rutgers, Maryland, Illinois, and Minnesota before Penn St. or even MSU, let alone tOSU or UM!
  8. If being in the B1G helps the Dawgs, how much more will it help us! We already out recruit them. Adding B1G territory will only strengthen that. Biggest concern for me is travel, especially for all other sports. Even in the pro's, the team that travels the farthest often struggle. With the way air travel has been of late, we could see lots of flight delays and long travel times. If we don't already, best we buy a jet, or sign a deal with a private company to charter our teams. The times, they are a changing. I would LOVE to win one more Pac12 championship.
  9. We now have a hockey team! It's no longer a club sport.
  10. I love listening to these coach's interviews. They make me wish I could suit up for them! No wonder so many blue-chip guys want to come here. Coach Lanning isn't afraid to have smart, strong, great coaches around him. Articulate, intelligent, experienced, what a great group. I'd say we have nothing to fear from B1G competition. Go Ducks!
  11. Actually, he's the Beaver guy. We will hear lots if this kind of talk in the immediate future. We, as Duck fans, need to let it roll off our backs. This really started with USuC, and finished with an impossible media deal. And if the shoe was on the other foot, it surely would end the same. UO pres says the competition with OSU will continue (if they allow it) but life is hard sometimes. Beaver fans have for a very long time been very vitriolic about us Ducks. Even to the point of absurdity. They have a lot of gall expecting us to take it in the shorts to benefit them. When have they ever done anything for us. In fact, when was the last time you read or heard a Beaver even be "civil" regarding us Ducks?! So syonara rodents. Enjoy dominating the Mt. West...if you can!
  12. Finally!! Football. Is. Back! Now we can talk about actual "football" and not speculation. Go DUCKS!!
  13. Hind sight is always 20-20. When OK & UT announced they were joining the SEC (or rather it was leaked) George K had only been on the job for a few weeks. He had not had time to feel out Pac12 leadership for expansion thoughts, and no one but USC knew about their plans to bolt. The Pac12 seemed destined for remaining strong. So holding back and waiting was not necessarily a bad idea. Expansion was difficult because the main thinking was still academics first. Also, the political climate could make things difficult to add religious based schools such as BYU, Baylor, TCU and others. Rushing into expansion seemed too risky. Now, we wish we had done so. I can't believe Fox or ESPN will risk losing the west coast. But, they do seem to have the leverage. I also believe that any future expansion has to be included for a media deal to bid on. If San Diego or Dallas are to be included, this can only help the bottom line. We are 1 month away from real football. I sure hope we can hang on and stay together until then.
  14. Ouch! and hilarious!! I don't know if my tears are from laughing so hard, or from fear that it's too close to the truth!
  15. Great get! Love keeping the family together. Keep it rollin' coach Lanning!
  16. I hope it's true. Then quickly add SMU to take CU's place in '24. Then add SDSU and one or 3 others. And then finally, let's play football!!
  17. So I just watched highlights from our Fiesta bowl win over CU, 2002, and then last year's win. We dominated both but in 2002 they actually could tackle and looked like they were trying. Last year we scored td's with a offensive lineman, a linebacker, 2 qb sneaks and a pick 6. I don't think I would have been tackled! No wonder DS fired the whole team! See ya CU, don't let the door hit ya on the way out!!
  18. I honestly think this is a relevant question. College ball has always been more regional. I don't think it survives being forced to being national. The forced emphasis on a national championship has totally ruined a team having a good season and ending in a fun bowl game, for players and for fans. Attendance is still important for schools athletic budget, and it's been on a steady decline now for years, across all teams and conferences. With rising costs, families and fans have to be more discretionary with their spending. I think that this $$$ driven realignment push will alienate fans. Especially when coupled with NIL and transfer craziness. I want to stay put, remain Pac12. If college football becomes NFL lite, I think it hurts fans. I think it would be wise for those deciding to acknowledge that. The NBA has suffered greatly in viewership due to fans unhappiness. The same could happen to CFB if fans were riled enough. IE: watching our Ducks play the marquis teams of B1G would get alot of eyes, but against the likes of Rutgers, Indiana, etc, not so much. I want the joy of facing my CAL friends after a beat down, or boldly grinning at my WSU supporting brother after we spank them. And I really get excited at the thought of Lanning starting another 12-0 run against the Dawgs! Beating Baylor leaves me, meh. Come on George K, deliver the goods. Healthy $$ media contract, add SDSU and maybe others and let's go kick some Big12 butt!
  19. Since Colorado left the Big12 for the Pac, they have done very poorly. Same for Nebraska with the B1G. With Oklahoma and Texas gone, the Big12 seems more winnable for CU. The Pac is more competitive even without LA schools. I can see why they might consider a move. But I do not see UW or Oregon thinking the B1G us a better option. I think this is cluck bait. Gotta wait till media contract is announced.
  20. Unbelievable. 52.5 million a year!? Come on Justin , we be best friends!!!
  21. Congrats Justin!! Remember how much good friends we are....?
  22. It's my understanding that Oregon has solid NIL support, but they WILL NOT get into bidding wars. They encourage players to wait for the real (big) $$. Williams would have been nice...lost him to a team playing similar defence and great coaching...we'll get the next one.
