  1. What I don't get is the gushing over tOSU and Texas or even Alabama and Miami. These teams have all struggled against weaker opponents in recent weeks. Oregon, with a new qb and injury bothered O-line stumbled a bit in the FIRST 2 WEEKS of the season and it was held against us even after beating tOSU. Boy, bias is a tough thing to overcome I guess. Btw, anyone notice that most all the top teams are heavily invested in NIL. Just one man's observation.
  2. Great read. Their joy is a direct result of Lanning's "family" attitude. We at my house have loved watching players celebrate together. It's our joy.
  3. Thanks JJ for posting this. The officiating is a very serious problem. Every fan thinks their conference refs are the worst. But this year there really seems to be glaring issues everywhere. I like some of his solutions. Maybe the head refs should be made into full-time jobs. There seems to be a lot of $$ involved in college football these days, maybe it's about time to invest some of it into the officiating. It's hard to expect part time employees to be the best. If something isn't done, we may end up with more disgusting events throwing debris onto the field.
  4. Fan bases are all the same, lose a game they think you should have won, and they become unhinged and call for heads to roll. I remember hearing rumblings after Lanning lost to UW and OSU. And then again last year after the 2 losses to UW, 'can't win the big one', 'not ready for the big leagues', but boy am I glad we got him. It is funny to watch/hear tOSU fans crying...and Day is such an immature 'nut' on the sidelines, I'll enjoy their tantrums.
  5. Not even sorry here. They made their own bed, they can lay in it. Years of mediocrity, leadership that was a major supporter of the horrible Pac12 leadership, an athletic budget regularly in the red, delayed NIL support, too many issues to list. They are where they deserve to be. And personally, I'm tired of their fans holier then thou attitude. Some day they may be competitive again, but for now, I am thoroughly enjoying their melt down while we rise in rankings. Now, bring on those Wolverines! Beat them down!!
  6. Because the reviews go through ACC office, not just on the field. In a way can't blame them. FSU did get hosed not making playoffs.
  7. It seems if the home crowd is criminal and unruly enough to throw cans and bottles they can now intimidate the refs. This is not a positive move for sports. I hope the ruling bodies can find a punishment severe enough to stop the nonsense.
  8. Let's not forget 4-4 Beavis of Corvallis. They may not win 6 games!
  9. I know it's been commented on already, but coach Day sets a really bad example. I used to not like the Stoops family of coaches cuz they yelled at players and acted ridiculous on the sideline for every call they hated, but Day is pretty bad. I'm so glad our coach Lanning has better character.
  10. Oh paleese!! Not hardly, not this week!! Go Ducks!! Show all them pundits who's the boss!!
  11. We knew this was coming. Title IX and using football/bball revenue to finance all the sports has shown to be a poor model. I don't know what the answer is, but spending tons of $$ on sports that few people watch or follow is costing someone somewhere. The success of football has covered the craziness of supporting so many sports (m & f) that not only don't generate $$ but cost so much to have. I'm thinking tv revenue might slow down as well if streaming continues to increase. Well in the meantime, we have few Olympic sports and a football team in 1st place. I'm good for now.
  12. Great reminder Charles. We need to enjoy this year's run. I too noticed the plethora of seniors at the beginning of the season as I tried learning the new names and numbers. The caveat is we are also stacked with younger talent, and the future looks just as impressive with recruits. I agree that many other teams are also senior heavy do to extra covid year eligibility. Also, there doesn't seem to be a clear cut "best team" in the nation. Several leaders, including our Ducks, so now is a good year to make a run. Next year will be a reload, not a rebuild. Some of those 2025 verbals look ready to play right away. But mostly, live one day at a time. Enjoy the moment. And Sco Ducks!!
  13. I could say rankings don't matter except to fans, but they do. If we don't win the B1G championship then where we are ranked will determine making the playoffs. We not only deserve #1, we've earned it. I can't believe how so many are hung up on our first two games. We have only improved vastly each week. We have had to find a new offensive line and work in a new qb. Many key starters are transfers learning a new defense. This team is really finding themselves and gelling as a team. We are peaking at the right time. The talking heads in the media are all prejudiced against Oregon for different reasons. Think about it, just 2.5 seasons ago, Lanning and our Ducks lost 49-3 against Kirby Smart and his Dawgs. How could we be #1 already?! To them it's unbelievable. Well, here we are. Awesome. Now we face a real trap game. At home, we're ranked #1, just shutout a team who scored 49 against this team, we better come ready to play. Go Ducks! Destroy the Illini!
  14. I know some Duck fans like(d) Wilcox, at least as a DC. Not me. His coached teams injured 3 of our qb's on late hits. We don't need that kind of coaching in Eugene. But I'll cheer for him this next game.
  15. Next week should give us a 3rd top 20 win. Scoooo Ducks!!
  16. Great play so far from Justius Lowe and Kenyon Sadiq. Great opportunity to show their stuff.
  17. I hear Lincoln Riley may be available by seasons end...😉
  18. My wife suggested maybe he's "self soothing"... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  19. Coach Lanning will always have that "river boat gambler" in him. And we as fans will rejoice when it works, and heavily sigh when it doesn't. But it will always be exciting. DL is still learning how to coach and boy I'm glad he's a Duck.
  20. I feel you Charles, but the play call should have worked. Tez was WIDE open....9 of 10 times DG makes that pass.
  21. As we bask in the afterglow of last week's big win, and ponder why so many in the media seem confused that Oregon is really "that good", it occurred to me as to why. There are too many old timers doing sports. Retired players, former coaches, many who have been doing it for 25, 30, even 40 years! Think about it, how long has tOSU been a powerhouse football program? Or Penn St.? Michigan? Their whole lives. 40 - 60 years! We at OBD agree, we weren't very good in the 70's or 80's. But we've been one of the best the past 25. All current players in CFB or high-school have known Oregon to be good their entire lives. But not the sports writers, broadcasters. Add to that the incredible Dan Lanning, accompanied with NIL support, best facilities and excellent coaching, why wouldn't every kid want to play at Oregon. Lanning is working his tail off, and we are finally seeing the fruits on the field and with recruits. He really is an amazing young man. Btw, the first branch of his coaching tree, ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham has his team 5-1 in their new conference BIG12. Surprising all the pundits. Proving once again DL knows how to pick em.
  22. After rewatching the game, I thought we did fairly well at times getting pressure with 4 rushers. Howard was pretty much on his game. When we rushed more Howard was less effective. Blitzing against such a potent offense is a high risk/reward move. Over all, I thought our D was excellent. A couple bad, broken plays, but in the end, good enough.
