Did Oregon State Slide Into an Ideal Spot After All?
DanLduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Let's admit the hard honest truth: OSU has always been a G5 team. Along with WSU. I always have believed that if BSU and WSU or OSU exchanged conferences, WSU(OSU) would play in a bowl every year and BSU wouldn't. So making the Pac12 a G5 conference, makes OSU and WSU top of the league, as long as their recruiting stays at a Pac12 level. That's not likely. I believe BSU will rise to the top. So yeah, OSU is in a "good" place, for a G5 team. Good for them. -
I'm not trying to be critical, but I thought Dillon Gabriel was a little off in the game. Many of his throws were a little late or behind receiver. Tez did slip on the INT but DG was hesitant and late with the throw. I like how well we played considering it wasn't DG's best game. I look forward to Fri night.

We have yet to play a full 60 minutes of "Oregon football". But we've finished Sept 4-0. Each week seems to be different issues. So we are moving forward. If Tez's pass to Patrick had not been so overthrown, and if his slip in the endzone not helped the pick 6...that's 14 points and we're not talking about not being tough enough. We are one-third through the season, ranked 6th. A good place to be. Now we continue to improve each week so that come late Nov we are at our best. It's impossible to play your best every game for a whole season, especially when the team you're playing is so less talented. To me only Texas looks tough. UGA came out flat, and Bama disappeared 2nd half. tOSU hasn't played anyone as tough as BSU yet. No one has peaked yet. I think we OBD fans are expecting too much too soon. This Friday night will be a great test. A short week with a night game will show if coaches can have the men ready. This game also has all the signs of a potential trap game, so how we play will show us a lot. MSU lost to tOSU last week 38-7. That will be the standard. Our goal is to better that score. And to keep improving each week.

So Ferguson Had to Leave the Game, and it was NOT Targeting?
DanLduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Because of the chippiness of the game, I think it was smart not to play Dante Moore. No need to risk injury with a cheap shot. Plus, Novosad has earned playing time. -

UCLA did play chippy all night. Some play was worse than others. It is very disconcerting when a player lays a big hit and the player appears injured, to see any type of celebration. Not a good move by Addison. And no reason for "revenge" or proving anything, he's the one who left! Anyway, karma may have bitten him back as he suffered what appears to be a knee injury later in the game and didn't return. Good for Dillon to stand up to bullies. Next time he should bring an O-lineman with him. -
Holy Scrap-12!! I love the title of this post! Well done HDuck! And " butt dialing". Oh my word, I can't breathe!

Elite Recruiting Mountain Too High for Ducks’ Lanning?
DanLduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The state of Oregon has never been a hotbed of football talent. 2025 is a down year, usually we get 1 or 2 and some 4☆. We have always relied on CA athletes, thus we say "sco ducks". In my opinion, Lanning & Co are doing an amazing job! We have landed the #1 recruit out of all the western states; ID, WA, AZ, CO, NV, and many of the top CA. Also top players fom MI, MN, NJ, FL, MO & more. And that's when we were Pac12. Being in the B1G should only help. I don't know if we will ever become "top 4" every year. But we certainly will be in the running for every player DL wants. Winning the Natty and being an NFL pipeline will also help. I am curious to see recruiting for the next few years. NIL monies are playing a huge part, bigger then we realize. Will that continue? How will the House case settlement effect teams and spending? Will new coaches at Bama and MI change anything? Can Sark actually coach a winning season for an entire year? Is Lanning going to develop into the next winningest coach? I believe we are already recruiting at the elite level. We need to just win, baby. -
Pig-2 Getting Receipts, and NOT Liking Reality...
DanLduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
How much you wanna bet, that at the end of the day, Osu and Wsu join the MWC. That's really their best option. But, denial requires trying every other door first. We shall see. -
Pig-2 Getting Receipts, and NOT Liking Reality...
DanLduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
"The Pac12 used to be something, now we know the truth, IT'S NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE". This is the kiss of death for the Pac. To get the best MWC teams will cost them $20M/ school. To join the MWC will cost them the $300M in Pac12 $$ left and only let them keep 1/12th. And they still need to find a media deal that will pay, and at best they can hope for is maybe $10M/yr. Or, maybe the original Apple streaming deal, for $15M? And they will never be considered a "Power" conference. What's the attraction to join them? What gets me is that even Beaver fans don't like the Beavers. The game with Purdue wasn't close to a sellout. And their stadium only seats 37K! I too find this all quite enjoyably humerus. I am so tired of all the crap talk coming from Canzano and Oregonian writers! I will look forward to 1 game a year from the Beavs, the "Left Behind Bowl" against WSU. -
Are You Feeling Snookered by the B1G Yet?
DanLduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
We knew going in they wanted us for that late time slot. I'm not surprised. I just hope no games in Autzen will be that late. With any luck the game will in essence be over by halftime. -
Sheesh, the B1G Has Some Very Weak Teams...
DanLduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Seems like most conferences have a few great teams, a bunch of middle teams and a few stinkers. Maryland has been improving each of the last few years, but Illinois has been a bit of a surprise this year. Is Nebraska really improved or CU just bad. I think Wisconsin is having an off year. I've been wondering if the portal is helping to make more teams improved, or make more teams mediocre. There seems to be more parity among the mid-level teams. Btw, Purdue was on the road 2 weeks in a row and had been beat pretty bad by ND (66-7) so a let down could be expected. Udub is in a rebuild. But WSU is the surprise team to me. I'm very curious to see how they do this week against BSU. I guess Charles, I don't think the B1G has any more or less "stinkers" then any other conference. Unless you're in the SEC. As everyone knows, ALL their teams are top tier. -
Oregon wins a close one against a top 25 team, BSU. And drops to #9 in the polls, 6 spots. Georgia wins a close one against unranked Kentucky, and drops 1 spot. Who said life is fair?
-
I don't think either wsu or osu can qualify unless they become highest ranked G5. Most likely that will be a G5 team that wins their conference. Currently the Pac? is NOT a bona-fide conference. They need a minimum of 8 teams. So until the 2026 season, they can qualify for a bowl but will miss out on playoffs. They were given 2 years to figure things out by NCAA. Whatever teams result in being in the Pac, they will never be granted an automatic spot in current playoff format. They need to be highest ranked G5(or 6) conference winner. The powers that be, SEC and B1G, will not give a renamed MWC a place at the playoff trough. Besides winning conference, they will need at minimum, one major ooc win. Just another reason to not schedule them every year.

Cam Ward Has Turned Miami Into a Contender...
DanLduck replied to Just Ducky's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I do agree. Cam Ward not only is talented, but experienced. We know Mario can't develop a qb his only hope is to get a decent transfer. Miami will have to get by Clemson to win ACC, but could qualify for at large bid. They don't have a strong SOS so we will see how committee votes at season end. Meanwhile, they will get generous rankings in weekly polls. That's the benefit of being an east coast team with a high ranking recruiting class. We need to keep improving each week. -
USC Fans Blame the Officials for Loss to Michigan
DanLduck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I agree about travel and game time being an issue. We're going to see how well our coaching staff prepares our guys for those stresses this year. This will be a real learning year for the staff. After the tOSU game, we travel every other week. -

Seems to my eyes that B1G refs allow alot of "contact" for DB's. Our guys better be ready to fight through holding. And yes, I think the refs in the B1G give preference to the bluebloods of the conference.
