  1. These questions could be asked about all the coaches. Someone might get an offer and leave, it's a great staff. This includes Lanning regardless of what he said the other day. Lanning was never offered aTm job, pretty easy to say what he said when no offer was extended.
  2. I would never give any kicker, longsnapper or punter a scholarship. I would hire a great coach and if they want to get developed for the NFL they will come. Specialist wouldn't get a scholarship untill there senior year at best.
  3. That one played a part for sure. Would have been 6.
  4. The pac2 is toast. They will probably never compete at the top levels of college football again. They will be held afloat for a couple years then sink under their own weight. As the revenue dries up so will they.
  5. Ducks smoke the Devils. No way ASU hangs with the Ducks. 42-6
  6. The Ducks, specifically Dan Lanning and Bo Nix, put themselves in this situatuon on Mont Lake. Win out an cross your fingers about sums it up.
  7. I mentioned this before the USC game. I thought this was the biggest key to the game. Teams like UW, USC, Utah and UofO (prior to this year) were exhausted this time of year. While teams like UGA, Bama, tOSU were getting stronger. If Ducks make the CFP they will be able to hang with the big boys because they have built the team in the same way. The lack of injuries is not an accident. If UO can get into the CFP they will be mostly healthy and ready to compete against anyone.
  8. I agree, except the sorry part. I think they look great. It's really about what the players want anyway.
  9. IMO, Bo Nix is the best player in college football. In order for Nix to have elevated to the position he is in requires having dudes who can play at a high level across all position groups. So many on this team are really good players. And they make really good players next to them really great players. Bo is no exception. He is a really good player with really good players making him a really great player. Thats a football team. 1%, main thing the main thing, go to the doctor, all of this is done as a team. From coaching to players, these guys seem bonded in a way we haven't seen at Oregon. Ducks have a legit shot at a national championship. They are built to do exactly that. If they can get that done it will be an amazing accomplishment. Super hard to say who the MVP really is. To accomplish something like winning a NC will take everyone doing their job at an elite level. Whats more valuable? The axle, the wheel or the pin holding the wheel on? As is with a team. Nix is THE best player in college football when you break down all the moving parts that go into that. But this is just my opinion.
  10. And if Beaves narrowly beat the fusky, then beat the Ducks, Ducks play for nothing. No 2nd crack at fusky. I would much rather get another shot at fusky, cfp or not. I think AZ would get the nod if Beavs lose to fusky and beat the Ducks and AZ wins out. The senario of Beaves beating Husky and losing to Ducks is spliting hairs. I want both Ducks and Huskys to win out and the Ducks to throttle an undefeated UW in Vegas. I doubt either scenario with Ducks winning out matters to cfp seating. Super thin argument imo.
  11. Chip Kelly is washed up. He will always be a sub .500 coach. No serious program will hire him. His best bet is a mountain west program.
  12. How about " Prop me up beside the goal post if I die: Joe Diffie"
  13. Lincoln Riley needs to learn a lesson from Jimbo and jump to the NFL or A&M. The jig is up for Jimbo but Riley still has a chance to stay out in front of his ruse.
  14. Men like this are rare. The response was thoughtful and thorough and precise. This was addressed quickly and for the most part, we can move on without much worry. Untill A&M makes a hire not named Dan Lanning they are still a threat. But the odds of Dan being the guy has dropped to about .05%. That answer is about as good as we fans could have hoped for.
  15. Does Lanning use this as an opportunity to increase his salary? How hard does he push Oregon without crossing the line? Does A&M come at Dan around 12 mil or more to put pressure on him? Is Lanning worth top 3 pay? He really hasn't won anything yet. He hasn't even beaten a rival (0-3). He is however 19-4 as a HC. Thats a pretty phenomenal record out of the blocks. Also, Dans cealing seems to be super high. So do you pay Dan more money on a possibility he will get Oregon over the hump? I have a hard time thinking you pay him on a "what may be". Lanning just got a huge bump in pay and an extension. This is a very tricky situation and both sides need to be careful. If Dan demands a match he could lose support of boosters and the fan base. I have way more questions than answers. And most of my answers are more just thinking out load than hard opinions/beliefs.
  16. Lewis made 87ish percent of his fg last year. 64ish percent this year. He was perfect through first 5 games. He has to make these from 45 and in or Lanning needs to try someone else. Penalties and the kicking game will cost Ducks again if it isn't fixed.
  17. Some will end up in the B1G and big12. But isn't it a product of leadership. Hopefully the officiating leadership in the B1G is much better. It's a hard job for sure.
  18. I think it depends on timing. If it's a few years down the road and Lanning has established Oregon as a national top 5 power in the B1G with a trophy in the case, I don't know if any program at the college level will be a threat. At that point Lanning will be fully entrenched as an Oregon Duck. Probably looking to build a legacy as Saban did at Bama. I think Lanning is capable of Saban status, only needed element is time. But A&M is coming at him early in his HC career. That makes them a threat.
  19. I also think the Oregon job is better than the A&M job. But I am a Fan. I think my team is the best job in the country. Oregon is definitely a top 10 job in my view. Doesn't really matter what fans and analysts say or think is the better job. It matters what head coaches think. aTm is a highly coveted job in the coaching circles of college football. This is a real threat to Oregon. I hope Lanning views Oregon as the better job but am not sure he does. I hope Duck brass has a long talk with Lanning today. Puts it on the table and Lanning concludes its a no brainer. Go Ducks!
  20. Tranfer portal should be ripe. aTm had a #1 class a couple years back. A ton of talent on that team. How many jump?
  21. I don't disagree with any point you made. aTm is a serious program though. And that will require Lannings due diligence. But this will come down to a family decision and rightfully so.
  22. If I were Lanning I would take a close look at the aTm job. I would have indepth conversations with the brass at both universities. Oregon is solid but aTm checks all the boxes. Every coach in the country knows this is true. It's why Jimbo took the job. Lanning owes it to his family to look at this job more that just casually. I hope Lanning stays put but I have my doubts. Oregon is a great program that is up and coming as a CFB power. aTm is different though and should be taken seriously. Just one mans opinion.
  23. Josh Pate will be in Corn-valis. So thats respect from someone who is actually legit.
