How Should Duck Fans Remember Mark Helfrich?
I feel like the roles of the two teams were also flipped compared to when we played them two years ago. in 2016 we were the undisciplined team that was all about flash and then the wheels fell off. In 2023 they were all the college football world was talking about until they stepped into Autzen...

How Should Duck Fans Remember Mark Helfrich?
Someone said in another topic that the 2015 and 2016 seasons were when OBD had officially Jumped The Shark with the uniforms and I have to agree. Oregon's design team and Nike had essentially been given carte blanche to make whatever they wanted and the result was, at times, absolutely insane. The Lewis and Clark uniforms wreaked of desperation The Green camo for the 2015 Civil War and helmet had zero flow and looked like something the All America Bowl teams would wear The Oregon Duck uniform against Colorado. Nothing more needs to be said... The Oregon Webfoots getting rolled in 2OT against Cal Not saying Helf got fired because of the uniforms, but someone definitely did.

Things Aren't Rosey at QB at Ohio State, Just Sayin'
I'm sure the situation isn't nearly as bad as the media is making it out to be. After all, they are essentially saying the same thing about Dante Moore. We will all know just in a couple weeks when practices get rolling though!

Oh Brother..."New Look" Pac-12 Invites Texas State, But...
They badly need to rebrand their logo as it is no longer even representative of the geographical locations for most of the schools! two total schools in the new conference can be considered as "mountain" schools (Colorado State, Utah State), yet it is one of the predominate features in the current PAC-12 logo. The new logo needs to be as boring as possible in order to properly highlight the generic, no-name places in each state that their respective schools call home! And a name change to the Left Behind Land Grant State Schools Conference should be legally required!

Evan Stewart May Miss 2025 Season With Injury
Sadiq and Dakorien Moore look to be the primary targets. I think Sadiq was already trending that way without the injury; but we'll get to see that Moore-Moore connection early and often this year!

Shedeur Falls, Ducks Rise
Our office took bets yesterday on whether Shedeur Sanders would fall out of the top ten and I was the only person to bet that he would. Not gonna lie though, I figured when he was still on the board at 21 Pittsburgh would snag him up. Instead, they went and got themselves a wrecking ball in Derrick Harmon and should be much better off! Harmon is the exact opposite of what you expect to find in Shadeur. He is the ultimate team player. He is a guy that doesn't care about being the center of attention; he just cares about getting the ball back to his offense to win games. He is a violent, collision loving bad dude in the best way. I am glad that Tomlin and Co. took a few minutes to do what's truly best for their team. Maybe Shedeur is still on the board when they pick today. Maybe he was humbled enough to see that there is still much more work to be done. He is talented, he is athletic, and he was also exposed by the Ducks and various other teams the past two seasons. If he can eat enough crow between last night and OTAs, there is a chance he can develop into something the league wants leading a team. If not, maybe he and DJ Uiagalelei can join forces in the UFL.

Johntay Cook Arrested on Multiple Charges
Just crazy how guys like Johntay can literally have a life of success sitting right in front of him for the taking, yet they still choose to do sketchy things. Talent was right there, a second chance was as well in the form of the Fuskies. All he had to do was occasionally go to class, go to his tutor sessions, play football, and his life was essentially made. Colt Lyerla will always be the Oregon cautionary tale.

Should Tosh Lupoi's Seat be HOT?
It would involve him being almost strictly involved in the day-to-day processes of the defensive side; including constant player development, creating plays, tweaking them for personnel. All of this I am sure he could easily do as he's done it before. However, as the HC of a much higher profile program than lil' bro to the north, I would wonder whether or not it would spread him too thin.

WR Jontay Cook OUT at Washington
Wouldn't touch this guy with a 40 mile pole. He is a walking red flag. Besides, our cupboard is completely stocked at WR. Still hoping Jurrion Dickey can emerge this offseason as our answer to a Jeramiah Smith type weapon. Jontay can go to Miami and be Mari-o's problem!

Carson Beck Entering Portal, Miami Looking Like the Destination
Interesting article that names Oregon in the top two for him. Personally, I don't see Beck as a drastic, or even, an improvement over Dante Moore. Sure he has experience, but I think we have already seen Carson Beck's ceiling over two years. Not sold. I'm ready for some in-house developed talent. Oregon Star WR Evan Stewart Returning Next Year!
With the way to ball flies out of Dante Moore’s hands, we could see some serious deep shots. Malik Benson should also be a vertical threat with the speed he has. A 10.4 100 meter dash is pretty quick!

Does Will Stein Hate Running QBs?
I only see two games this season that it was used optimally; but even those looked more like QB scrambles than actual designed plays. Why did Gabriel get to run in the first tOSU game but not the second? Were they genuinely concerned about injury potentially derailing a playoff run? If that's the case then why didn't we see more of it in the second half of the Rose Bowl, when they should have had the playbook completely wide open?

Does Will Stein Hate Running QBs?
This is something that has always perplexed me with the Will Stein hire. Both starting QBs that he has coached during his tenure at Oregon have been described as mobile and athletic; more than willing to pick up yards with their feet. Now, don't get me wrong, I am well aware of the risk that is incurred every time a QB tucks the ball and takes it downfield. But in a program with an offensive mentality that has for the better part of 15 years, in some way involved the threat of a QB keeping it, I find it curious that some of the lowest QB rushing statistics at Oregon have been during the Will Stein era. Let's first look back at Bo Nix. His 2019 and 2020 seasons at Auburn both saw him run for over 300 yards and, if it weren't for injury in 2021, was on pace to post similar numbers. His first season at Oregon, under Kenny Dillingham had Nix running 510 yards! Yes he got hurt, but clearly this was a risk that was seen as acceptable at the time. Then came his one and only season with Will Stein. Although he posted a historical 77.4% completion rate, his rush number dipped to 234 yards. 4 out of 5 seasons saw him posting or at least on track for 300+ yards per year. Now for Dillon Gabriel. His 3 seasons at UCF saw him intentionally put into a passing scheme where QB runs weren't favored so much as a QB's ability to extend the play was; which he did well. Then he gets to Oklahoma in 2022. In a system much more designed to allow a QB to pick up extra yards we see him posting 315 yards and 373 yards in consecutive seasons. He then gets to Oregon for his one and only season under Will Stein (the longest season of his college career FYI). The 2024 season saw Dillon Gabriel rush a measly 149 yards in 14 games. We really only saw Dillon Gabriel snag yards in the most absolute clutch of scenarios (Boise State, Ohio State Pt 1). We rarely saw designed QB runs and when we did they were very far from effective. Bo Nix, in my opinion, only got above 200 yards his last season because he was given absolute command over the offense and changed plays as needed. I hope this is not the beginning of a trend for QBs at our school. We have often done so well and caught so many defenses flat footed by employing ALL of the legs on offense. Again, I understand the inherent risks associated with a running QB. But this school has been taking those risks for 15+ years. My worry is that Will Stein has trouble calling an offense that utilizes a ball carrying QB. We should be adding wrinkles to the offense, not taking them away.

So, They Were Sick on Game Day?
It didn’t seem to me that our defenders had a lack of intensity on the field. When you look back on the game you can clearly see them scrambling to break plays and just getting beaten. I think there is something to what I’ve been hearing that Ohio State may have withheld a decent portion of their playbook anticipating making the playoff. Part of that is a gamble, yes; but when you pay $20 million for a roster there has to be some assumption that you’ll be making the post season. This could have been part of their game plan all along. Even Dan Lanning consulted multiple NFL teams prior to the season in order to better prepare for a longer slate of games and how to successfully navigate their way to the end. He couldn’t have been the only coach taking notes.

Duck QB Signee Sagapolutele to Enter Transfer Portal
We are not desperate at QB, nor are we in rebuild mode. The comments Tez made about Dante Moore's progress and readiness to take over is especially encouraging. It could be that the other guys are also much further along in their development as well and that reality hit Jaron when he started early practices. I feel like we are in good hands with the current QB room. His late commitment was more confusing than anything.

Oregon Football: Ohio State vs Tennessee Score Predictions
In the cold and possibly snow/rain. Even colder after the sun goes down. Neither team generates much through the air. This game will be decided on the ground and the ability of defenses to generate a few necessary stops. SEC teams hate the cold and will complain about these games not being played in covered stadiums after this season. 20-17 Ohio State
