No player or coach is going to say anything other than what was said regarding the potential next man up. Saying anything other than that, whether you mean it or not, destroys the team culture. That being said, I can't imagine a guy making a comment like Hutson's if Ty wasn't already taking the majority 1st team reps in practice; or there was any doubt as to whether Bo would be starting this weekend. Here we go Ducks fans. 75% or more of you wanted Ty to get his shot at starting this year and it may well happen this weekend. Here's to hoping the big moment is just what he needs to light the spark that starts the fire.

I am more inclined to think that, given the versatility Dillingham is showing with his offense, he has a set of legitimate plays intentionally designed to give TT opportunities to read the pre/post snap defensive looks and make the appropriate choice with the ball. These are plays that can easily be called to keep the offense rolling while also not giving away too much (if that is indeed the goal). It looks to me like TT is just not getting it. It seems like he is just guessing at what the defense will do and running with the first look in his progression. A screen pass is his first play nearly every single time he starts a drive; followed by a handoff, which inevitably leads to a 3rd down and distance pass attempt. To me that doesn't seem like a coach intentionally hiding their cards, that seems like a player unable to take the next step in the program. DL and KD clearly see something in him or they'd have moved on to Butters by now. It's all very hazy/odd/interesting.

One of my good friends is currently a defensive assistant for the Wet Mutts from the annoying neighbor to the north. The Ducks can be the Dodge 3500 rolling through the neighborhood at about 35 MPH while he plays the neighbor's puppy that tries too hard to sniff the tire... Dedicated to Erik!

Auburn, Dan Lanning have mutual interest in Tigers' head coaching job WWW.SI.COM Our making the case series continues with Dan Lanning, who has interest in the Auburn coaching position. Is this all smoke or is there substance to this? No way we he bails after a season.... Right?

Keep wishing they'd roll out the Chrome Domes with this combo.

Seven McGee Entering Transfer Portal
Babyjesus615 replied to Babyjesus615's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Agreed. I think Cardwell is gone already (mentally) but staying on the team to practice and preserve redshirt. I think Butters is gone next year and I could even see him as a Beaver. The Beavs are a QB away from being a very serious threat in the PAC. -
Here comes coach Prime!

Oregon Ducks receiver Seven McGee no longer with program, will enter transfer portal WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM McGee, who did not travel with the No. 8 Ducks to last weekend’s game at Cal, is not with the team and will enter the transfer portal when the transfer window opens I think this was more or less coming; as sad as it is to read. We have an abundance of wealth at the two positions he plays. What other positions can you think of where losing someone to the portal is almost guaranteed?

Canzano: Pac-12 Plotting on Media Rights and Expansion
Babyjesus615 replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
What comes to mind with "splashier" that can also coincide with "making sense for the PAC?" My first thought goes to BYU for "splashy" but not necessarily for "makes sense" because of the religious complications. Do we go further east into Big 12 territory? Then we get into some of the same travel nightmares that are brought up in regards to USC/UCLA going to the BIG (doesn't make sense). IMOH there is no NEED for expansion beyond any school not named San Diego State at this point. Any other school would need to be additive financially while also not overly burdensome on the student-athlete. It's a tough line to walk. -
Dan Lanning Talks Growth From Ty Thompson
Babyjesus615 replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I would like to see Dillingham dial up a few real-game scenario drives for Ty so we can get a better assessment of where he's at. I'd want to see him put Ty into the same sort of opportunities to create explosive plays as Nix is getting. Maybe keep the 1st string O-Line out there until they at least score a touchdown with him under center. 4th quarter against CU, if I'm Dillingham, I am on the headset with Ty saying "OK here we go, I don't care what the score is, we need this touchdown; go get it". Now if that version of Ty comes out and still struggles or can't move the ball, I'll want to see what we have in Butters. We just haven't seen Ty operate the "real" version of KD's offense yet; so it's tough to get a read. -
If Butterfield transfers up the road next year he wins that QB battle easy. They are a QB away from a title shot and he would give them that. That would make for a heck of a Civil War!

I'm saying 4 years before he's coaching Bluefield State College or Judson University. I think the university will give him a shot with Jake Garcia. They are going to want to see what their investment does with a 5 star QB. If Josh Gattis sticks around for at least one season with Garcia and gets production out of him that may stretch him to approximately the 4 year mark. What I see happening is Jake Garcia starts out promising and then starts to regress under the prevent offense. Josh Gattis gets a head coaching gig and MC brings in another OC. The fans and the university will, at that point, see the offense remaining the same and understand the root of the problem lies not with his supporting staff but MC himself. MC should have a roster full of talent that is going absolutely no where. By year 4, Manny Diaz gives a slight chuckle when he wakes up Monday morning of week 6 to read that Mario Cristobal and Dan Radakovich have been relieved of their positions.

With the UCLA crowds these days I'm pretty sure Washington is considering it a neutral site game!

BSU QB Hank Bachmeier Enters Transfer Portal
Babyjesus615 replied to Babyjesus615's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Avalos as a defensive coordinator at Oregon was in the same position Chip Kelly was at HC. They both inherited a lot of talent (players and staff) which, in turn, caused their strengths to shine and their weaknesses to be overshadowed. When both were given the task of forming their own team with their own identity, the flaws began to show. I want to see Avalos succeed. Hopefully he can snag an up-and-coming OC to right this ship. Montana State and Southern Alabama come to mind. -
Boise State QB Hank Bachmeier to transfer in wake of Broncos firing offensive coordinator, per reports - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Bachmeier was a four-year starter, but turmoil at the start of the 2022 season led to his departure The wheels seems to be coming off at Boise State in a hurry! First the OC is given his walking papers and now Bachmeier wants out! He's looked bad this year but lets be honest; the play-calling has been more to blame than his actual performance (i.e. Anthony Brown, Justin Herbert). Let's see where he winds up.

OBD Prediction Contest vs. Washington State!

By the time Taggart comes back to the Power 5, football will look like it did in Starship Troopers (maybe the most ridiculous part of that movie). He might just end his career coaching Pop Warner in Alaska. He burned the equivalent of Golden Gate Bridge with that stunt he pulled on the way out of Oregon. This is not lost on ADs around the country looking to replace P5 head coaches.

Harsin makes the most sense IMHO. Auburn is a meat grinder for all coaches who don't immediately place them in CFP contention. He is a great coach with about as many west coast ties as all the governors of the Pac 12 states combined. and he'd make ASU immediately dangerous again. They'd give him Jonathan Smith-style carte blanche for the football program.

Kenny Dillingham is one name ASU will look at in its coaching search DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM ASU will look across the country for its next head football coach, and Oregon’s Kenny Dillingham could be among the top candidates. The coaching carousel is off and running for the year in the PAC with Arizona State looking for a new head coach. This article includes Kenny Dillingham, as it is his alma mater. Does it make sense? Avalos did it, Crist-no-ball did it. Does he become another Ducks coach to answer the call of his former school if offered?

Is “Win Now” Culture a Problem For QBs?

Is “Win Now” Culture a Problem For QBs?
Babyjesus615 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
BYU has always been my measuring stick for what happens at QB going forward for the season. I wanted to see the starter take care of the ball and not make huge mistakes against a Georgia team I expected we'd lose to. And then against BYU I want to see a QB who built off of Georgia and takes the next step in efficiency, accuracy, and all around performance. I think if we see Bo do bad Bo things in this game then it is time to make a change. I have seen the comments about how Ty looked robotic and lacking leadership qualities last week. Those can be developed. That'll come with comfortability in playing with the starters. Lanning needs to be ready to roll the dice.
