  1. I don't envy the position Kliavkoff was put in having to take over after the Larry Scott debacle. But even a guy of his experience/expertise seems to be struggling mightily to get this ship righted. The networks want two Power 5 conferences to drop off and they don't care which ones go. The fact that the Big 12 raced ahead to get their deal done shows that they can see the writing on the wall. All conferences not named Big Ten or SEC are in self preservation mode, and the Pac 12 just can't seem to get enough momentum going to move the needle on a favorable deal. It feels like nearly all of our leveraging ability as a conference is gone. The Big 12 and Big Ten no longer have to hurry. They can sit back and wait for teams to jump ship and run to them. Predatory conferences can offer Pac 12 schools less money than their respective media deals but more than whatever Pac 12 deal materializes. In survival mode, who is going to turn that down? If the Big Ten offers Oregon/Washington a deal in the $40 million range they are gone and soon after the Pac 12.
  2. https://www.si.com/college/usc/football/big-12-totally-out-maneuvered-pac-12-by-getting-early-media-right-deal-done It is sure looking like the Big 12 is trying to get out ahead of the Pac 12 before attempting to poach some schools. Another report has CBS/Turner backing out of Pac 12 negotiations today as well. I sure hope we aren't watching the demise of our conference play out in real time.
  3. Bye! You want to bring that kind of baggage to our school? Nah! We're loaded at WR anyway and now better off by trimming some fat!
  4. Nix also got hurt going head first and between the tackles.
  5. I wonder where viewership is with a team like Texas Tech added to the mix as well? Would give a West Texas footprint and a decent in-state conference rivalry matchup. We don't need an even number of teams. The PAC no longer has divisions. We just need the right mix of viewership and competition.
  6. Lanning should be on a plane to Salt Lake City as soon as yesterday. Jim Harding (offensive line coach at Utah) has the line playing as a top unit in the country, and my guess is he would be in for a substantial pay bump to bring his services to Eugene.
  7. BREAKING: Oregon’s Adrian Klemm leaves Ducks to take coaching job with New England Patriots SPORTS.YAHOO.COM Per a report from ESPN's Pete Thamel, Adrian Klemm is leaving Oregon to take a new coaching job with the New England Patriots.
  8. The donors in Miami have to be looking at this like the lit fuse on a firework that just fell sideways pointing towards the rest of them. While the fire from the fuse is small, it is very visible and there is likely little anybody can do to stop it from eventually blowing up in their faces.
  9. I have witnessed some of the most entertaining and egregious Duck football "news" of all time in a bar. A guy told me once he was the uncle of Tyler Shough and that Mario Cristobal personally told him he was the second coming of Mariota. A girl told me she loved being in classes at the U of O with Justin Herbert in 2021. I asked if she meant 2019 and she said "No I only was enrolled for 2 months but I had classes with him in '21".
  10. Not sold on Rashada at all. His loyalty holds about as much weight as my keyboard. Wouldn't at all be surprised if he sits a year, watches the team not make bowl eligibility, then splits for greener (money reference) pastures.
  11. First the "men" of Troy whimpered about their 2023 schedule. Now the boys are crying about losing a recruit out of their backyard. I guess not every skilled kid from Cali wants to be fed to the meat grinder of Big 10 talent and Big 10 weather in 2024!
  12. My hope is that Gattis takes a head coaching job in the ACC a few years down the road. Just in time to deliver the loss that puts Cristobal on unemployment!
  13. Chargers' hefty price tag for Justin Herbert extension revealed BOLTBEAT.COM The LA Chargers have some business to take care of with Justin Herbert and just received the bill. 10 years $510 million! Justin Herbert is looking like he's headed towards the largest football contract ever conceived. Perks of moving the team to Los Angeles I guess. But if you are Herbert do you really want to hitch your wagon to the Chargers for the next decade? What are your thought?
  14. I mean come on, our boys can't be out there twisting ankles! - Dennis Reynolds
  15. These guys are absolutely in his league and will most likely beat him and USC this year. And guess what? We don't even have to wait for the Pac 12 Championship game to see it. All 3 QBs play USC in the regular season. 2023 will definitely not be kind to USC's win total
  16. Everything I'm reading sounds like the Patriots are going all out for Bill O'Brien. He and Belichick are close and it sounds like the interest is mutual. I don't mean this to sound insensitive but the Rooney Rule applies to offensive coordinators as well as head coaching searches.
  17. Gebbia has said multiple times he wants to coach. This would be a way to get his foot in the door for a Grad Assistant position when he exhausts his eligibility. The guy will have been around college football for 7 years by the time he is done playing. He's not afraid of losing the battle to be a starter, he's more concerned with seeing how the big boys play. He'll be coaching QBs or calling plays by the end of the decade.
  18. Texas A&M is probably driving a bank truck to his house as we speak. No amount of money is off the table in East Texas. Those boys would buy Christiano Ronaldo if they thought they could kick 20 field goals a game and win.
  19. Justin Herbert is still playing in the 2nd half of a game that is completely inconsequential. As a matter of fact, all of the Chargers starters are. Locked into the 5th seed in the playoff (most likely against Jacksonville). Is Staley actively trying to get himself fired in order to collect unemployment? If Herbert gets hurt I'd oblige him...😡
  20. I don't buy it. Speaking in hindsight about your commitment to Oregon is very easy and expected if you are Dilly; no one would know otherwise. Do I believe he was committed to the Ducks until the second he walked out of Reser? Absolutely. However, only a robot could sit in the box while calling a game and not have thoughts of a new head coaching gig, getting introduced in 24 hours, meeting players, etc... At least he didn't give up on his team like Cristobal did when he found out 2/3 of the way through the season that he was going to bail
  21. Sark must be back on the rye again 😬
  22. Kid saw Matayo sign with Oregon as was like, "well I never got to feel Thibs hit me at 100% while I was lined up against him, here's my chance!"
  23. So excited for Herb! Short of getting to the Super Bowl, one thing is very clear, Joe Lombardi needs to be gone next season. Heck, Shane Steichen did more with Herbert in one season than Lombardi. He is trying too hard to pretend this is 2018 New Orleans. The Chargers have way more offensive talent than that, Herbert has a better arm than Brees, and the team is in a brutal division. I vote Frank Reich for OC!
