My thoughts went to Hudson Card coming to Oregon as soon as he went into the transfer portal. If our offensive identity in 2023 remains similar to this season's, he would light up the PAC 12 the same way Bo has. Now that Will Stein is on board this makes as much sense as bringing Bo in when Dilly took the OC job. Card has proven he's not afraid to take downfield shots and is also excellent when scrambling. Dante Moore gets a year to fill out and learn under a genuine QB developer. This should happen.

It was said by someone else before; but I feel as though we've entered the Era where a transfer QB is required every year that a freshman QB comes in. The days of raw (but talented) prospects developing over a few seasons is going the way of the dinosaur. Teams need to know they have an experienced option on the field, ready to take the reigns should one of their youngsters get tired of waiting. This is systemic at almost all positions; through all divisions of college football now. No one has the patience to put their time in (a lot are chasing NIL money). Compounding this issue is the reality that most QBs who start their college career rarely end with the same OC that recruited them. OCs are bolting for their first head coaching gig these days faster than ducks from the sound of a shotgun; rather than staying multiple seasons to develop their system. This has led to players leaving and following the coach to their new landing spot (Lincoln Riley/Caleb Williams). In short, we'll need a transfer QB because the status quo dictates that we do. Until that changes it's reality we live in.

Hate to admit this but I have a good friend who works with the DBs up in Seattle and they are all pretty confident that Presley is theirs. I guess we'll know when the early signing period starts if he elects to extend until February or not. Erik Hamburg, if ya'll get him you might be catching these hands!

I'm on board with this sentiment. Thompson was recruited by a guy who required vastly different things from his QB. So much has changed offensively since then. Time to officially wipe the slate clean from Crist-no-balls and look to the future. I'll wish TT luck at ASU and hope he winds up on the receiving end of a few sacks when we play them next year.

A team like Tampa Bay would fit Nix's strengths great. They've already built an offense around a QB who is not mobile. They require an advanced level field general who can make accurate throws and protect the ball. Bo has shown he has the chops for both.

I won't be surprised if Ty Thompson is the next domino to fall. He's the much more logical option to follow KD down to ASU. I could see Butters exploring his options (one of those being 40 miles to the north). 😐

I think Mullens needs to write up stronger contract language that could stipulate a potential OC stick around a little while longer before he doesn't lose money for bolting. None of this "zero percent buyout if he gets a power 5 HC job in his first year". The contract needs to be both enticing to the potential employee but also protect the investor as in any high level business transaction.

This QB list doesn't include Hudson Card from Texas as he is obviously NOT in the portal. However, I can't imagine him sticking around Austin much longer with Arch Manning coming next year. He is an experienced guy that has had meaningful reps at a high level. The fact that he didn't bolt as soon as Quinn Ewers was named starter shows he has genuine care for his team as well. A believe Card would pick up the offense quickly and push Dante Moore but also mentor him, were he to win the QB battle.

I think pickups from the transfer portal at O-line and defensive secondary are definitely in order. This is a tricky line to walk as we want enough talent to bolster the roster and also push the existing players; but also not so many that we see players leave because they feel they are being replaced. I also would not blame Dillingham one bit for snagging a QB if Bo Nix heads to the draft. There is so much that is unproven in the QB room; but if you're a real deal QB coach, someone at some point will begin to stick out. It might be that we have to wait until Dante Moore gets here to see the guy that sticks out.

No player or coach is going to say anything other than what was said regarding the potential next man up. Saying anything other than that, whether you mean it or not, destroys the team culture. That being said, I can't imagine a guy making a comment like Hutson's if Ty wasn't already taking the majority 1st team reps in practice; or there was any doubt as to whether Bo would be starting this weekend. Here we go Ducks fans. 75% or more of you wanted Ty to get his shot at starting this year and it may well happen this weekend. Here's to hoping the big moment is just what he needs to light the spark that starts the fire.

I am more inclined to think that, given the versatility Dillingham is showing with his offense, he has a set of legitimate plays intentionally designed to give TT opportunities to read the pre/post snap defensive looks and make the appropriate choice with the ball. These are plays that can easily be called to keep the offense rolling while also not giving away too much (if that is indeed the goal). It looks to me like TT is just not getting it. It seems like he is just guessing at what the defense will do and running with the first look in his progression. A screen pass is his first play nearly every single time he starts a drive; followed by a handoff, which inevitably leads to a 3rd down and distance pass attempt. To me that doesn't seem like a coach intentionally hiding their cards, that seems like a player unable to take the next step in the program. DL and KD clearly see something in him or they'd have moved on to Butters by now. It's all very hazy/odd/interesting.

Agreed. I think Cardwell is gone already (mentally) but staying on the team to practice and preserve redshirt. I think Butters is gone next year and I could even see him as a Beaver. The Beavs are a QB away from being a very serious threat in the PAC.

Oregon Ducks receiver Seven McGee no longer with program, will enter transfer portal WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM McGee, who did not travel with the No. 8 Ducks to last weekend’s game at Cal, is not with the team and will enter the transfer portal when the transfer window opens I think this was more or less coming; as sad as it is to read. We have an abundance of wealth at the two positions he plays. What other positions can you think of where losing someone to the portal is almost guaranteed?

What comes to mind with "splashier" that can also coincide with "making sense for the PAC?" My first thought goes to BYU for "splashy" but not necessarily for "makes sense" because of the religious complications. Do we go further east into Big 12 territory? Then we get into some of the same travel nightmares that are brought up in regards to USC/UCLA going to the BIG (doesn't make sense). IMOH there is no NEED for expansion beyond any school not named San Diego State at this point. Any other school would need to be additive financially while also not overly burdensome on the student-athlete. It's a tough line to walk.

I would like to see Dillingham dial up a few real-game scenario drives for Ty so we can get a better assessment of where he's at. I'd want to see him put Ty into the same sort of opportunities to create explosive plays as Nix is getting. Maybe keep the 1st string O-Line out there until they at least score a touchdown with him under center. 4th quarter against CU, if I'm Dillingham, I am on the headset with Ty saying "OK here we go, I don't care what the score is, we need this touchdown; go get it". Now if that version of Ty comes out and still struggles or can't move the ball, I'll want to see what we have in Butters. We just haven't seen Ty operate the "real" version of KD's offense yet; so it's tough to get a read.
