  1. Good lord. This is what happens when the nation decides to give 17-18 year old kids the media spotlight. He already said about a month ago that he wasn't sure he was going to sign during the early signing period. If he announces a "signing date" that is as good as him saying he is going to be considering other schools. That's the only reason to push it out; and if that's the case, byeeeeeee! We are stacked at WR already and Ashton Cozart will be a dude. The only question that remains is whether or not he actually wants to play for a team that will compete for conference championships every year (and by extension playoff spots) or a bad team in ASU that might only taste success in his final year of eligibility.
  2. I get the feeling that Ty knows he needs the development; otherwise he'd have been the first QB gone from the "progrum". This, to me, actually says a lot about his mindset on the team. He wants to learn as much as he can, develop the chemistry needed with the players, and hopefully become a leader. As for everything else, I believe the pieces will fall in place. We are a destination school for QBs and that's not lost on prospects. If Hudson Card is totally fine with sitting another year under someone, knowing his prospects the following season to be the starter are good, then by all means bring him on board. Even with the transfer portal circus I still believe a team needs to take a prep QB every year. A guy from a high school developing into a starter is the calling card of a truly good OC/QB coach. I am excited for what Will Stein may bring but I want to see him earn his money's worth.
  3. 30-0 Beavs right now. They are going to get a transfer QB in the off-season to compete with Gulbranson (who looks good). This team is going to be good next season.
  4. Seems like the staff is trying to stay as quiet as possible regarding the transfer portal at the QB position until early signing day. I get the feeling Dante Moore wants to think he has a solid chance to start next year. Pulling the trigger on a big name transfer could be the deciding factor if he truly is weighing his options. Hudson Card, I believe, would do very well in the Will Stein/Dillingham offense. However, I think Dante Moore knows that bringing a guy like Card in to play with the current talent on offense all but assures he sits as a back-up for a season (which is usually a good thing). In this day and age, freshman are getting handed the keys more and more often. I see Moore as a guy who wants the keys now. This is the equivalent of trying to find the thick ice on the lake to cross as you walk but you're too far out to turn back. 😬
  5. This is the closest that Slick will get to a Power 5 program again. He might as well drink up every moment of it. Going to love seeing his face as a full blown Lanning defense shreds the Colorado offense and gets him relieved of any meaningful responsibilities on the team.
  6. My thoughts went to Hudson Card coming to Oregon as soon as he went into the transfer portal. If our offensive identity in 2023 remains similar to this season's, he would light up the PAC 12 the same way Bo has. Now that Will Stein is on board this makes as much sense as bringing Bo in when Dilly took the OC job. Card has proven he's not afraid to take downfield shots and is also excellent when scrambling. Dante Moore gets a year to fill out and learn under a genuine QB developer. This should happen.
  7. It was said by someone else before; but I feel as though we've entered the Era where a transfer QB is required every year that a freshman QB comes in. The days of raw (but talented) prospects developing over a few seasons is going the way of the dinosaur. Teams need to know they have an experienced option on the field, ready to take the reigns should one of their youngsters get tired of waiting. This is systemic at almost all positions; through all divisions of college football now. No one has the patience to put their time in (a lot are chasing NIL money). Compounding this issue is the reality that most QBs who start their college career rarely end with the same OC that recruited them. OCs are bolting for their first head coaching gig these days faster than ducks from the sound of a shotgun; rather than staying multiple seasons to develop their system. This has led to players leaving and following the coach to their new landing spot (Lincoln Riley/Caleb Williams). In short, we'll need a transfer QB because the status quo dictates that we do. Until that changes it's reality we live in.
  8. Hate to admit this but I have a good friend who works with the DBs up in Seattle and they are all pretty confident that Presley is theirs. I guess we'll know when the early signing period starts if he elects to extend until February or not. Erik Hamburg, if ya'll get him you might be catching these hands!
  9. I'm on board with this sentiment. Thompson was recruited by a guy who required vastly different things from his QB. So much has changed offensively since then. Time to officially wipe the slate clean from Crist-no-balls and look to the future. I'll wish TT luck at ASU and hope he winds up on the receiving end of a few sacks when we play them next year.
  10. A team like Tampa Bay would fit Nix's strengths great. They've already built an offense around a QB who is not mobile. They require an advanced level field general who can make accurate throws and protect the ball. Bo has shown he has the chops for both.
  11. Hudson Card transfer portal destinations: Potential fits for Texas Longhorns QB 247SPORTS.COM ... This was highly expected and now that he is in the portal, should Oregon go after Hudson Card to bolster its QB ranks? Does bringing in a guy like this help or hurt the existing QB room?
  12. 2023 NFL Mock Draft: Buccaneers land QB to replace Tom Brady, Chargers get stud TE for Justin Herbert - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM The Buccaneers have to look to the future at the quarterback position
  13. I won't be surprised if Ty Thompson is the next domino to fall. He's the much more logical option to follow KD down to ASU. I could see Butters exploring his options (one of those being 40 miles to the north). 😐
  14. I think Mullens needs to write up stronger contract language that could stipulate a potential OC stick around a little while longer before he doesn't lose money for bolting. None of this "zero percent buyout if he gets a power 5 HC job in his first year". The contract needs to be both enticing to the potential employee but also protect the investor as in any high level business transaction.
  15. This QB list doesn't include Hudson Card from Texas as he is obviously NOT in the portal. However, I can't imagine him sticking around Austin much longer with Arch Manning coming next year. He is an experienced guy that has had meaningful reps at a high level. The fact that he didn't bolt as soon as Quinn Ewers was named starter shows he has genuine care for his team as well. A believe Card would pick up the offense quickly and push Dante Moore but also mentor him, were he to win the QB battle.
  16. I think pickups from the transfer portal at O-line and defensive secondary are definitely in order. This is a tricky line to walk as we want enough talent to bolster the roster and also push the existing players; but also not so many that we see players leave because they feel they are being replaced. I also would not blame Dillingham one bit for snagging a QB if Bo Nix heads to the draft. There is so much that is unproven in the QB room; but if you're a real deal QB coach, someone at some point will begin to stick out. It might be that we have to wait until Dante Moore gets here to see the guy that sticks out.
  17. No player or coach is going to say anything other than what was said regarding the potential next man up. Saying anything other than that, whether you mean it or not, destroys the team culture. That being said, I can't imagine a guy making a comment like Hutson's if Ty wasn't already taking the majority 1st team reps in practice; or there was any doubt as to whether Bo would be starting this weekend. Here we go Ducks fans. 75% or more of you wanted Ty to get his shot at starting this year and it may well happen this weekend. Here's to hoping the big moment is just what he needs to light the spark that starts the fire.
  18. I am more inclined to think that, given the versatility Dillingham is showing with his offense, he has a set of legitimate plays intentionally designed to give TT opportunities to read the pre/post snap defensive looks and make the appropriate choice with the ball. These are plays that can easily be called to keep the offense rolling while also not giving away too much (if that is indeed the goal). It looks to me like TT is just not getting it. It seems like he is just guessing at what the defense will do and running with the first look in his progression. A screen pass is his first play nearly every single time he starts a drive; followed by a handoff, which inevitably leads to a 3rd down and distance pass attempt. To me that doesn't seem like a coach intentionally hiding their cards, that seems like a player unable to take the next step in the program. DL and KD clearly see something in him or they'd have moved on to Butters by now. It's all very hazy/odd/interesting.
  19. One of my good friends is currently a defensive assistant for the Wet Mutts from the annoying neighbor to the north. The Ducks can be the Dodge 3500 rolling through the neighborhood at about 35 MPH while he plays the neighbor's puppy that tries too hard to sniff the tire... Dedicated to Erik!
  20. Auburn, Dan Lanning have mutual interest in Tigers' head coaching job WWW.SI.COM Our making the case series continues with Dan Lanning, who has interest in the Auburn coaching position. Is this all smoke or is there substance to this? No way we he bails after a season.... Right?
  21. Keep wishing they'd roll out the Chrome Domes with this combo.
  22. Taking Beavs and the atmospheric river by 10. Penix is going to have a long night with his receiving corps in that rain. We'll be smelling wet dawg all the way down here in Bend.
  23. Agreed. I think Cardwell is gone already (mentally) but staying on the team to practice and preserve redshirt. I think Butters is gone next year and I could even see him as a Beaver. The Beavs are a QB away from being a very serious threat in the PAC.
