  1. I seem to remember that it was Cusano who used to step to the sideline after a good play and make a giant "O" with his arms--this was before the "O" with hands now.
  2. And I imagine that vomit spewing all around adds to the spread of germs (anything from colds to who-knows-what).
  3. Whenever Coach Campbell was a speaker at Daisy Ducks he always brought 2 or 3 players with him--miss him!
  4. I think there are 7 Freshmen/Redshirt FR, and 4 sophomore O-Linemen, so at least the cupboard is not bare, and maybe there will be commits or portal transfers this fall.
  5. "You might recall the story a player recounted in a FishDuck interview where he stated that Lanning was “brilliant” as the coach called out plays and defensive coverages in the Super Bowl…before they actually happened?" The key being that "they actually happened." For a time I sat next to former high-school football coach who would call out plays--90% of which were wrong!
  6. "In theory, it could offer weekly kickoffs at 7:30 p.m. Pacific on Friday and Saturday night for 13 weeks. That's 26 games, with little or no competition, in primetime windows for the West Coast and Mountain Time Zone audiences." The only night games I watch are Duck games, and then I'm in my jammies ready for the 20-second walk to the bedroom as soon as the game ends. I can't believe that the audience/money for a night game compares to say, a 12:30 start time, especially in the Central and Eastern Time zones where almost no one watches West Coast night games.
  7. Interesting how several of us remember "Only you can prevent forest fires." In 200l the line was changed to "Only you can prevent wildfires," and that is the slogan today. But I grew up hearing "forest fires" and that's what I still think even when I hear the new slogan.
  8. Hope you get to go to the game, and Congratulations to your daughter!
  9. Stanford to South Bend, a short distance? "Only" a little over 2,000 miles?
  10. Looking forward to seeing Dillingham's offense. But I saw that he is only 32 years old--I think I have Duck T-shirts older than that!
  11. “If these (Big Ten) deals go through, then next up will be the Pac-12, which ESPN likes because of its late night windows,” Marchand wrote. It this means more stinking night games, I am not going to be a happy camper.
  12. I think the players have worn pink before, though not sure if it was on the numbers. Otherwise I don't notice any striking differences in the unis.
  13. If this is true, it will be interesting to see what happens if Miami has a so-so season or two. Will the fans give him a chance and stick with him, or will there be some boos in the stands at Hard Rock Stadium? And if there should be boos, how will he react?
  14. My feeling is that since Mario is no longer the coach at Oregon that I don't have all that much interest in him anymore. He recruited well at Oregon, took the team to PAC-12 championships, but sometimes lost games that it certainly seems shouldn't have been lost, and left in a way that left a sour taste in the mouth in that he seemed to be out the door by the middle of November. But for good or ill, he's Miami's coach now. I'd much rather focus on Dan Lanning and the Ducks.
  15. Well, let's see. The Ducks have an entirely new coaching staff, a QB who will be starting for the Ducks for the first time no matter who he is, and the usual number of good players who have graduated/left for the NFL/whatever, so others will have to step up. I'm certainly no football expert, so I'll just say that I'm going to strap myself into my seat for every game, home or away, and see what this team can do. One thing I think is fairly certain is that it will be exciting to watch.
  16. That reminds me of Brent Musburger whenever the camera lingered on a buxom fan in the stands. You could practically hear him drooling and leering. And of course we could hear his lascivious comments! Ick!
  17. It's kind of interesting/funny that none of us have mentioned that some (6) of the cheerleaders are male, although they are listed as Stunt Base members of the cheer squad. 10 women are listed as Stunt Tops, and 15 women listed as Dancers.
  18. It's about 33 minutes, covers a lot of ground. I found the talk about the rise of San Diego St. of particular interest.
  19. It's not related to the Ducks, but two Al Michael's calls. First, of course, at the Olympics, "Do you believe in miracles?" Second, the World Series in SF, "I think we're having an earth--"
  20. I am not interested in seeing pictures of cheerleaders. I don't watch them at games, haven't for years. They pretty much stopped leading cheers years ago when they started doing bump-and-grind dance routines instead. To each his or her own, but I have no interest in seeing photos of cheerleaders on FishDuck.
  21. Let's hope that, among other things, Lanning can get the defense to really improve.
  22. I remember years and years and years ago there were Duck fans who wanted Oregon to switch to the Mountain West Conference, I think it was, so that the Ducks "could win more often." My, how times have changed.
  23. What if all 35 teams (that, I think, would be the number after USC and Ucla leave the Pac-12, and Big 12 without TX and OK) are one Super-Duper Conference? Divide it up with sub-conferences and divisions?
