This and the pig-headed stubbornness of MC is what did this year's Ducks in. I have to think that's why last night's stadium crowd was 70/30 or 80/20 Ute fans. Ducks fans were just too disappointed and realistic to not waste the $... But bet on this - he will have another game to improve his QBR. Can't be much worse, can it? Sigh...
-
This game is so over that even putting Mariota in won't help now. Alamo is AB's next game. He will keep on ticking...
-
In all fairness, they did beat Wisconsin and Purdue, both were top 25 at some point. In comparison, we only beat tOSU, but managed to lose to Furd that they easily blew out, and we got blown out by UT. So I think the ranking is fair for both teams ATM. But BK is a man without integrity. That's something everyone can agree on.

Would be interesting to see how much Akron will pay him...Although I don't think this move is about $. Sucks for the Ducks, but hopefully we replace him with someone in better health. Also, personally I wonder if his offensive schemes are too tricky sometimes even for ourselves. I heard from a booster who sat in with the players as they learned the schemes that apparently only AB was able to get all of his playbook. That's why we have been stuck with him all season. TT and Butter just couldn't grasp all of it at their young age.

"[Brian] Kelly Move a Product of a Broken Sport"
DuckFan93 replied to Annie's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
As long as capitalism is still in and the boosters are allowed to help pay for coaches' salary, this will just be the new norm, unfortunately. BK is definitely classless for bailing out before end of the season, regardless of what LSU wants. But the real solution may be to require coach salary to be paid entirely by the schools, from their FB earnings, and not from contributions. Otherwise, poor schools like our neighborhood rodents will never have a chance. -
I guess it depends on how far Cincy goes this year. If they win it all, then he can write his own ticket, although there isn't a better destination left right now than ND. OK maybe but it's moving to SEC which can be a con and pro. On the other hand, ND will have to be patient and wait till January if they want him. So that's the X factor. Brian Kelly to LSU -- What's next for Tigers and Fighting Irish (espn.com) Back to the topic here, Fickell's salary is 3.4M this year. So he is definitely a goner when it comes to $$$.
-
$100M will make you do that in a heartbeat. Just like Brian Kelly.

Mario is definitely not at the same level in terms of coaching, comparing to Kelly and Riley. But his recruiting compensates. I think he is fairly paid by Oregon, but then again the market dictates the pay. The question is if MC is interested in a move to Miami or OK. If he is, he will probably get what he wants and there is nothing UO can do about it.
-
I hope ND gets Fickell. Seems natural since Kelly came from Cinci too. Definitely a step up moving that direction. I was shocked at how little Kelly is paid by ND, especially with all the $ from making the playoff twice as an independent. They can and will have to pony up to get the next coach.

More like half of the game. But yeah, I wish we had stayed in the beat-down mode in 2nd half. But I guess the Rodents do have a good coach, stupid 2-pt tries aside. I was happy to see good AB showing up. The problem is it increased the chance of us getting another bad AB this Friday. Oh well, can't have them all. AB is what AB is.

Nothing can totally please everyone. I am curious how many current players and administration from either team find the former name unappealing? Did anyone do any serious fact-gathering before deciding to cancel it? I could be missing something, but it seemed knee-jerked to me. BTW, according to 10 Facts: What Everyone Should Know About the Civil War | American Battlefield Trust (battlefields.org), The North had 22 Million people while the South had 9 Million including 4M slaves. So it's more like at least 2/3 of the country fought AGAINST slavery to me.

Justin leads Chargers to a Thrilling Come From Behind Win!
DuckFan93 replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Same here. Not to defend the coaching disappointments most of us feel, but here are some facts to consider before making comparisons. 1. Most College coaches are NOT as good as NFL coaches 2. NFL players are all best college players 3. Kids grow up to be men and become better players over time Sometimes things are just how they are... To expect too much only makes us grumpy. -
I am still stuck on why Civil War got cancelled. I thought it was a just war that freed the slaves. What did I miss other than that it's not good to memorize any war? Pretty dumb, but apparently I am getting too old.

Playing Oregon State in Prime Time...
DuckFan93 replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
One thing I am curious - so if Beavs and Cougs both win this Saturday, 3 teams will be 6-3 in the North and they all chain-beat each other up. So who will have the tie-breaker? Wouldn't the team with the best overall record, i.e., Ducks, win out? -
Did Beating Ohio State Hinder Oregon’s Progress?
DuckFan93 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Completely agree. It was evident that Ducks was a one-dimensional team easy to beat once someone figured out how to stop the run and KT. We had no answers because we don't have an air game. And that's on the coaches for not developing it despite clear evidence of AB's shortcomings. Having a passing threat alone might not have been enough, but it would have helped with the score and other parts of the game. As I said before, it seems obvious that we should've tried to play a 2-QB system most of the year to help get a young guy who can throw gain the experience they need. I heard that they insisted on playing AB because he was the only QB who could fully grasp the playbook. OK, but surely TT or Butter could grasp part of it if they only play part of the game? Anyway, it's easy to couch coach, but I am not the only one criticizing the coaching. It's been very frustrating to see no change. -
A Different View: "Duck Feathers are Ripe to be Plucked"
DuckFan93 replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Oh that's unfair. What's the PC thing one can do to a Ute? We are just sitting ducks, unfortunately, for this type of disparaging headline... -
CFB Saturday's Breakdown and Prediction for Oregon-Utah
DuckFan93 replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
35-24 OBD wins, as long as AB brings his A game like the WSU one and doesn't throw to the wrong team! -
Dan Patrick: "A 12 Team Playoff is a GO"
DuckFan93 replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Well, it's all about abilities and rankings. So I think it's fair. 12-team playoff will definitely reduce/eliminate controversies - if you are #13, you should only have yourself to blame. -
is this Ridiculous or is Football Really, Really Bad in the West?
DuckFan93 replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
LOL, but seriously, most of these will probably do better than their last guy. They will all look legit with a 9.5M/Yr salary, that's for sure. -
I have the same fear, but also hold out hope that they see that AB is gone and there should be much more passing with TT under center. Again, fingers crossed. We can't just run our way to a natty.
-
Interesting analysis. But like the Beavs, Utes won't think this way at all. They just want to beat the No. 3 team of the land, both times if possible...
-
This is inflation for sure, LOL! Had no idea MSU has such deep pockets. Wow. And everyone is right - he is not worth more money than Saban, that's for sure. SMH...

Not good at all that we are not just losing new WR recruits, but enrolled and seasoned guys too. That's the downside of having a QB like AB, unfortunately. Yes, these guys should be more patient, but who can blame them in this day and age. I am personally very surprised that our QB3 Butterfield and QB4 Ashford have been as patient as they are so far. Fingers crossed.
