  1. "But it is just a game". No truer words ever spoken. Thanks for a great inciteful article.
  2. A new wrinkle and an interesting question poised by Matt Prehm (paraphrased) at 24/7 in regard to keeping under classmen with NFL potential . . . Could Oregon's NIL collectives put together good enough packages to (players with eligibility remain) that one or more decide to come back for another season?
  3. That is a big if . . . If Bo plays, If the transfer portal doesn't take too many players. If most of the pro-bound players don't opt out. (I personally don't have any problem with any player who opts out for their future.) This is the problem with lower tier bowl games these days. But on the bright side, it does give the back-ups valuable practice and game reps.
  4. Can't blame you at all and I don't think you're spoiled, just fortunate. Those of us who have lived it, wish we hadn't. That is what makes this forum so informative, different generations, viewpoints and opinions.
  5. I'm not sure whether I agree or disagree with that phrase. I guess it depends on what is the "standard"? 9 wins, that is a nice standard. Especially in a coach's first year. If 9 wins is the standard, then I'll gladly stick around for when we exceed it. The Pac 12 with 6 teams in the playoff poll, that's not the standard either. But when it is, a 9-win Holiday Bowl team might be the standard. Losing to ewe dub at home while being a double digit favorite or blowing a 3 TD lead with 20 minutes of football left, that is surely not the standard. We all would like to have the 'Bama standard, but I think that is a unicorn of a past non-NIL era.
  6. Here, here, totally agree. Been a Duck since '68 We lost to (simplified): An undefeated national champion A ewe dub team with an NFL QB, due to our QB being injured. An OSU team, again mainly due to an injured QB and a dropped punt. We didn't coug it against a vastly inferior team as in prior years, although it will happen again someday. I wear my Duck gear a lot probably like a lot of you here on the forum. However, I also make sure I wear it after a loss to show support for the team I love. GO DUCKS!
  7. Boy oh boy Charles, I hope your crystal ball doesn't turn into a pumpkinesk Cristobal.
  8. It is probably an interesting dynamic how the coaches "don't communicate" with the 3rd parties involved with NIL deals. Do they use the wink system (x number of winks is how bad we would like the commit or number of zeros to put in a NIL deal), Morse code, semaphore, emojis, etc.?
  9. THANK YOU: Free Day for Oregon Duck fans at DuckTerritory is Live! 247SPORTS.COM On this Thanksgiving week of 2022, the crew here at DuckTerritory has so much to be thankful for. And it starts with the greatest fan base in the nation, who has
  10. I agree with your premise, but . . . I think De Boer is mistaken when he said they were ready for the onsides kick. We I saw the replay, the closest husky was backpeddling. Had the ball not gone 15 yards, then maybe we we recover. Plus, this was a game like UCLA where we needed to steal possessions. Was a 25% chance just as good as watching Penix carve up our non-D on the day? Gambling was Chip's DNA and resonated with recruits. So, I think these young coaches aggressiveness will do so also. And, as you said "I understand they are open about being in a “learning-mode,” this is a very good sign to "know when to hold 'em".
  11. Opps, my bad. Dang, another game, sc v nd, where normally wishing both could lose.
  12. Plus, we need a new rule this is the last time it can be posted.
  13. Seems pretty reasonable that an L to usc in the Pac 12 CShip would vault sc to the playoffs and the Rose would be ours. Of course, we would all prefer sc take the L and knock them out of the playoffs. They would still get a NY6 game and good $$$ for the conference. GO DUCKS.
  14. Good news, the only ones who we "Boy were we all off" were the one picking the Utes.
  15. I think they only solved the Nix can't hurt us with his legs offense. As for our D, got the win, only gave up 10 points. But also lucky on 4th down passes to the feet of Kincaid and the later slant over the middle that Thorton or Bucky would have caught. Of course, kudos for creating those 4th downs with GREAT 3rd downs. On a night where our O was playing Mari-ball score wise, better to be lucky than good.
  16. Remember, St. Saban: 1) Called for outlawing hurry-up offenses for player safety . . . until he got the players and coaches to use it. 2) Is calling for a 9 game league schedule . . . that can't be implemented until after he retires due to current scheduling.
  17. "That was poor. It didn’t work out well, obviously. I’m glad that didn’t cost us the game, but great learning moment for me and our staff." DL Glad to see that quote and I guess the coaches "medicine" this week wasn't as nasty tasting as last weeks.
  18. Didn't/don't see that coming. Hope you are right, but I worry about a one loss BIG runner up. If it is Michigan, I think their loss to osu would still have them a few spots ahead of us with no games to play. Same with 'Bama whose only losses were 3 pts to Tenn on the road and OT at LSU.
