Impressive resume. If he accepts the position there can’t be too many distance coaches that are much better at the job. I think It would be a nice gift to Phil Knight and his family to have Oregon dominate T&F. With that said, considering the type of support that Phil Knight has provided, I would love to see Oregon win a few National Championships in Football and B-ball as well.

Justin Herbert has exploded onto the NFL scene. He is such a class act, and a great ambassador for the Oregon Ducks. The guy had three head coaches at Oregon, and could have easily bolted for the NFL after his junior year, but instead came back for his senior year. It is laughable that so many NFL talent analysts predicted that he would be a bust. He is looking more like a generational talent that has the opportunity to rewrite the record books.

Congratulations Dante. Ducks are alive and well.

Unfortunately, it is part of the new era, and this is our reality. Poor PAC 12 leadership led us to this situation, and we certainly can’t rely on it’s leadership to save us. The future health of sports at Oregon relies on our next move. Because of the work of Phil Knight, and other generous donors, we have a National presence that can’t be overlooked. However, the most important negotiating chip at the table when selling TV rights are these numbers being presented. Some traditional rivalries are going to be replaced with contrived rivalries that the networks will force feed fans. The new era now includes Universities, coaches, and players chasing the mighty dollar. It is a revolving door watching the coaches, and players switching teams. The game is quickly changing, and not for the better. Will fans stay tuned to their teams who are constantly losing the top players and coaches to the highest bidders? I doubt it.

Huskies fans are pretentious. They generally tout themselves as conference champion favorites before every season. Then reality hits them right square in the nose. Oregon State fans pretty much hate on the Ducks, and for the most part we kind of hate them back. Personally, I NEVER have considered a bark gnawing rodent as a little brother.

Might as well make it a package deal….Dante Moore, and include RB Richard Young. That would certainly grab some national attention. Huge recruits from both BIG and SEC territories. (So easy to spend other peoples money)

NIL $$$ will end up a major deciding factor. The turmoil in the PAC is an issue, but the narrative that creates a vision of the Ducks future and commitment to winning a Championship has not changed. In the end, if the Ducks land Moore with a larger commitment of NIL $$$$, then that will be a big indicator that the Ducks are going all in for Lanning and his staff. This recruiting battle may be part of the elixir needed that will move the Ducks forward.

The controlling factor is money. The landscape is changing quickly, and many people are worried, myself included, about where this ends. However, most players will not make their living in the NFL, or NBA, etc. Most need the educational opportunity that sports scholarships(NIL $$$$) provide. That will not change. Money decides whether you compete at the highest levels. Not sure that has really changed that much, but the amount of money involved to compete at the highest level is staggering. The money machine will change lives, for both the better, and worse. The means that “educational” institutions use to pursue that money, whether it is voluntary, or forced upon them, is what Oregon and other PAC 10 members are faced with at the moment. Our biggest issue is the fact that Oregon wants to compete at the highest levels. With that said, fans will have to endure the process whether we like it, or not. That’s the part that really stinks.

The BIG has gutted the PAC12. They grabbed the largest TV market from the PAC 12 and will use that to enhance their conference. Ouch. I think in the long run it does make sense to have more than two Universities on the west coast in an expanded conference. From a financial standpoint, the BIG does not need to make any other additions at the moment. They are in the drivers seat and have the ability to watch what happens within the SEC, PAC, ACC, and BIG12. Ulitimately, they probably have the ability to “cherry pick” teams they want if they choose to move towards more of a “super conference”. However, do they want to dilute what they already have in place? Sad to see long time rivalries with others in the PAC 12 end this way.

Larry Scott is the type of guy that is all show and has little substance. Many financial decisions that he made enhanced his lifestyle and did little to enhance the members of the PAC 12. If you blame Larry Scott, I think you also need to blame the people that let him keep his job. Anybody that has owned, or run a business knows that oversight, and review of work needs to be done diligently. Under no circumstances would I have allowed the expenses that Larry Scott incurred. Overall, this is not just one persons fault. It’s now time to get to work, make difficult decisions, and secure the future of the University of Oregon, and it’s sports programs.

The way I see it is that Oregon will be part of the solution to keep it viable, or ultimately expedite it’s demise. The worst thing that can happen is to start making irrational decisions. However, decisions do need to be made, and I certainly don’t envy the people that need to make those decisions.

Rob Mullens will need all hands on deck to keep Oregon afloat. With the recent defection of marquee names from the BIG12 it seems that these types of moves should have been somewhat anticipated. All I can say is that abandoning, or disbanding the PAC 12 saddens me from a fan’s standpoint. I understand that these changes are all about TV revenue and a bigger piece of pie. Still flipping stinks…. Oregon will be forced to make changes to remain relevant. Ughhhhhhhh.

Sisters Peaks refers to the Three Sisters mountains in what we refer to as Central Oregon. Depending on the location it is 2 to 3 hours from Eugene. Remember that there will have been fishing pressure all summer on trout. I still recommend Chinook salmon fishing at the mouth of the Umpqua river on the coast. (Less than a two hour drive from Eugene). The fall run of chinook has consistently yielded fish in the 20 to +40 lbs range. Winchester Bay Is the harbor town for the Umpqua river. Contacting a fishing guide service vs. “Charter boat” is recommended. You want to fish from a smaller boat, not in a large group, and use a much lighter pole and reel than what they provide on larger charter boats. Which is more fun and challenging. Generally, that time of year you are fishing less than 1/4 of a mile from the mouth of the river in the ocean. Therefore, a larger charter boat is certainly not necessary , and cumbersome to maneuver amongst other boats. I grew up in that area and my family kept a 26’ boat docked at Winchester Bay for years. I have literally caught hundreds of salmon in and around that area. Not recommending this guide (I have not fished with him). I think yes is the correct answer. We have a veteran OL, and solid QBs. QB1 will have available to him some of the best receivers we have had for quite some time, and the RBs should have a very good season. The only thing stopping this offense is themselves, and maybe Georgia…

The entire coaching staff has been on campus for less than 6 months, and haven’t coached a game yet. They finished very strong with 2022 recruiting (that could have been a disaster) and also kept some talented players from transferring out of our program. I think our coaching staff is going to bring in several highly ranked recruits for 2023. This staff is young and energetic, and I believe that they will work their tails off to deliver the goods.

Compelling thoughts on Big 12 teams. TV revenue definitely drives the bus. Any expansion needs to be a win/win situation for all involved. However, I would have a team of analysts work through the numbers and look at best/worst case scenarios to see who and what could make sense. Last thing needed is a diluted pool of revenue that generates less money for everyone involved.

The purple mutts fans always predict that their team is much better than the actual team that takes the field. The insults they toss at the Ducks are not going to change the outcome of their teams debacle of a season from last year. I think that DeBoer is a solid coach. However, recruiting is still going to determine his teams long term success. Time will tell if he can recruit at the level necessary to be relevant in the PAC12. If DeBoer is unable to recruit at higher levels, then the pups definitely will be just like Cal.

Would love to see us snag a few more big boy OL recruits. From there, anything becomes possible.

The puppies can lay claim to having the second best football team in the state of Washington. That has to count for something.

Track Town USA. Build it and they will come sounds good. However, recruiting T & F athletes requires more than a tour of the facilities. Don’t know any of the back story on this, but I have to agree that hiring a new coach should not be a huge issue. It would be great if Oregon once again reclaimed the distance races. Kind of put us on the map. Winning National titles require top notch athletes in more than a few events. This will be interesting to see how this plays out. I hope there won’t be a bunch of immediate transfers out of the program.
