  1. TCU will need to play a perfect game to win. I think they already played their perfect game against Michigan, and I don’t expect another against Georgia. While I want to see a close game, I am expecting that Georgia covers the spread in this one.
  2. Probably more of a hybrid OLB/S they want for the 4-2-5 scheme. They need players with the speed of a safety for pass coverage, or blitz packages, and stout enough to stop the run.
  3. Tattoos are definitely a personal choice. In many cases the art work will make or break what that person is trying to achieve. However, this is a tattoo that is not on full display 24/7. A private tribute, and celebration of the road that has been traveled.
  4. I suppose we should remember the draft analysis on Justin Herbert from some of these geniuses.
  5. The harsh reality of film study.
  6. At his height and speed he is a match up nightmare for DBs whether he runs mid level, or deep routes. The safeties would definitely have to keep an eye on where he lines up. Bodes well for running plays to take a DB and S downfield. The guy is still pretty darn “fast” out of the blocks to clock 10.28 in the 100. If he has the athleticism to make adjustments on deep balls he definitely stretches the field for the offense.
  7. The 2022 roller coaster ride is over. The season began with the question of whether we are that bad, or is Georgia that good. The offensive scheme resurrected interest and excitement, which was sorely missed, at Autzen. The defense had it’s moments, they stifled Utah, and fell flat against the pups and rodents. Going forward, I am excited about possibilities. If I created a wish list I would want a few DL guys that require extra attention at all times. DT’s that need to be double teamed frees up other players. Add in DE’s with the quick twitch speed needed to set the edge, or upset the timing of passing plays, and now we are starting to cook. As always, I look forward to the next chapter.
  8. Definitely an interesting hire. Peeks my curiosity. Oregon has a good networking pipeline to find coaches. I can’t say that every hire has always panned out, but we have had pretty good luck hiring coaches on the rise. With the way DL started his coaching career, it doesn’t surprise me that he is giving an unknown an opportunity to be on staff. These type guys usually know they need to outwork the guy next to them to advance. There is a process to get new hires approved, I trust the process.
  9. I know what you are saying, but it didn’t take too long for Nix, Irving, Cota, and Whittington to not only add depth, but also make an impact in a brand new offense. If DL and staff add players with the same type of impact on the defensive side…could get very interesting much faster than expected.
  10. Lanning and his staff’s use of the transfer portal in such a short period of time is a game changer. Landing Burch, Williams, and a solid linebacker would replace/upgrade players who opted to enter the transfer portal. Top ten recruiting class, coupled with top ranked portal transfers…definitely a “Wow factor” happening here if they pull this off.
  11. There is a level of excitement that a live crowd generates that can’t be duplicated. The CFP has changed the Bowl landscape forever, and the interest level in attending non CFP games really comes down to location and matchup for me. With a12 team playoff, a team on a CFP run, with Conference Championship game, could easily cost in excess of $25,000 to $30,000/person to attend all games. Preferred seats/comfortable flights/nice accommodations. Assuming I had the energy and patience for that scenario(i really don’t) that would be a memorable experience if your team wins the last game ; )
  12. My crystal ball has Novasad leading the Ducks to the CFP, while Moore is mired in 7 to 8 win seasons with UCLA before he suddenly transfers back home to attend Michigan State for his junior year.
  13. Nice play. The LG can be a wrecking ball of sorts. Having an OL with a full head of steam lead blocking through the gap is not exactly what the DBs are hoping to see.
  14. The NCAA enforcing rules by sanctioning teams that tamper with players seems black and white. The problem is that the NIL landscape is brand new territory. Laws governing NIL start at the state level and the laws differ from state to state. If you sanction a team for tampering with players, and a very wealthy booster is allegedly involved, the evidence and understanding of the laws better be iron clad. I could easily see the NCAA being challenged by a lawsuit with a legal “dream team” representing that booster. Money started the problem, and unfortunately, a lot of money may very well end the problem.
  15. Shifting gears into a 4-2-5 defense created issues for the team this year. The defense has numbers inside the box, good for running plays, but it requires the OLB/S hybrid player. That position needs players with decent size, speed, and intelligence. The OLB/S hybrid position needs to be the field generals helping the defense make adjustments as the offense comes to the line of scrimmage. They should be some of our best athletes. Our defense will improve just by players being more familiar with running it next year. We are bringing in some defensive players that will have an impact, but it will take time for the new recruits to be game ready. When this defense finally has nasty DTs that require extra attention, outstanding edge players, OLB/S hybrid guys, tall and fast DBs, that’s when you start to have a “Georgia” type defense.
  16. Riley continues to lose bowl games. Just another reason USC deserves Lincoln Riley. He bailed on Oklahoma because he didn’t want to compete with the top programs in the SEC. Kind of heart warming to watch USC collapse with Riley as head coach. Same story, just a different team and year.
  17. Targeting rules are necessary for any governing body of football. Lawsuits due to injuries incurred while playing happen all the time. A governing body must try to mitigate injuries by establishing rules. If penalties were to be decreased in anything dealing with head trauma injuries…good luck defending against all the class action lawsuits that follow.
  18. The completion he throws at the 20 minute mark of the video was sick. Must win game…not many QBs are capable of making that type of throw.
  19. Playing DB at this level is difficult. Fast receivers, and competent QBs expose young DBs often. With that said, Trikwese’s improvement has come with in game experiences, some not so good, that are vital for our team and his growth next year. Looking forward to seeing more from him in the future.
  20. I can’t root for teams with fans that wear purple. I have excluded that color from my wardrobe. I also will only wear orange when required by law ; )
  21. The last game of the college football season is the most important. Winning that game is the goal for all the boosters backing Oregon. I am hopeful that I see us attain that goal.
  22. The Pistol can be effective when coupled with RPO Options for the QB. If the QB never runs , and rarely passes downfield, then the pistol just signals to the defense a high probability of a run, or short swing pass. I think if there are RPO plays from the formation, a smart QB will run, or pass, and be able to exploit the defense that tries to stack the box all game. My take is that we have a QB, and capable WRs, that can “stretch” the field and possibly exploit a defense that doesn’t adjust. Also, after reading Charles comment, the QB will be more shallow, with the RB the same distance from the LOS as they are in the normal shotgun formation. Different style of play from Will Stein’s version vs the “not the pistol again” version from our past. I hope.
  23. Adrian Klemm left the Pittsburgh Steelers to join Dan Lanning’s staff. I kind of figured he would struggle with recruiting in first year back in the college ranks. If we see his offensive line come together this next season, the talent that will listen to him will include the top guys in the nation. That bodes very well for future recruiting cycles. I agree that our offense looks fun for the OL. Watching our OL flatten DB’s downfield is highly entertaining. Being the DB getting flattened, not so much.
  24. Love the tweet about how they should be selling current players about how successful they were 20 years ago, or all the big games that their coach almost won while he was at Oklahoma. Too funny.
  25. If he wants to start, he probably will not come to Oregon. However, if he and his brother truly want to be on the same team, and we have offered him a spot….bring him in.
