  1. Oregon came back and took the lead before losing 34-31.
  2. Let me give everybody a little perspective since it seems the torches and pitchforks have already made their appearance with regard to our coaching staff. Tennessee lost to Ohio State just as bad as Oregon did. Sure, it was cold, but it was just as cold in Knoxville during their practice week leading up to the game. That said, Tennessee’s defense is in the top 10 in every defensive category in the nation. They also play in the toughest conference in the nation. Yet, none of their fans are calling for Tim Banks’ head. In fact, Tennessee is in danger of losing him to another program. Texas has the best defense in the nation and Ohio State will score 35+ points on them and win by 2+ TD’s. Take that to the bank, you heard it here first, print the newspapers now, etc. Ohio State will embarrass every defense they play from here on out.
  3. He has only been blown out two of his six losses. That’s not half of his losses. It actually comes out to 33.33 (repeating, of course) percent.
  4. Let’s give this guy another shot.
  5. I totally disagree. Go look at Twitter and the Bleacher Report boards. Oregon is getting trolled hard. Not just by the usual subjects from UW, USuC and Beavis. It’s coming from all over the country. That doesn’t happen if you’re not nationally relevant. It happens when people are relieved because they’re scared s***less of you winning and taking their failing grip on the power they once held. Lanning is consistently recruiting top 5 classes and PK will pay for top transfers. Oregon has had two top 10 finishes in three years under DL and he is just now collecting a roster filled with 5 star recruits. The future is bright. That’s all of the therapy I’m giving on this forum today. I hope it helps. Remember, the first session is free. The next one will cost you.
  6. Winning championships is hard. Look at Ohio State. They’ve had stacked rosters for over 20 years and have two championships to show for it. With Lanning’s recruiting and coaching prowess, Oregon has a realistic chance of winning the big game. It also takes some good fortune to go along with the skill and hard work. I can count at least two Bama championships that don’t happen without another team losing late in the season. In 2011 they got in because Oklahoma State lost to ISU and we all know how they got in the championship game in 2012.
  7. Boise State is unbeaten in the Fiesta Bowl. They stay unbeaten. 31-27 Broncos.
  8. Herbstreit is looking more like a pud every day.
  9. I get that it’s a bowl game, but Beamer should have kicked the FG and then used his timeouts and two minute warning to get the ball back.
  10. This game should be a lesson for every coach. Put shock collars on your players and hit the button whenever one of them thinks about celebrating. There are referees out there who are actively looking to change the outcome of a game.
  11. PSA. Keep in mind that most hotels in State College are already sold out for that weekend. Altoona might be the closest place to get a hotel room at a reasonable price. Pittsburgh is 2.5 hours and Philadelphia is 3 hours depending on where you fly into. A day trip from those two cities might be an option. I will be driving up to northern MD Friday to stay the night and then driving in on the day of the game.
  12. Time to break out the Webfoots jerseys to go with those helmets and pants.
  13. We have never won a Rose Bowl wearing white pants against Ohio State. This isn’t a good choice.
  14. Cam McCormick finally used up all 9 years of his eligibility. For context, I was four years from retirement when he was a Freshman. I am now five years into retirement.
  15. Colorado can score very quickly. If their defense can force a couple of stops the Buffs can still pull this out. I’ve seen bigger deficits erased in the Alamo Bowl.
  16. This game has been a fecal extravaganza from the start. It should be called the Lack of Focus Bowl. Seven penalties in the first quarter, two dropped passes that would’ve put BYU in scoring position, an onside kick recovery where Colorado was caught sleeping, a dumb trick play that led to an interception, and a mad scramble by Shedeur that took his team out of decent FG range.
  17. Yes he is. And his star players are limping off with injuries.
  18. Mario impressed me by taking the points there. He knows that if ISU scores a TD he can run the ball into FG position while milking the clock and kick the winner.
  19. Not likely. 1-3 and beyond would be”bought and paid for with Uncle Phil’s money”.
  20. If Ohio State gets through their gauntlet (Tenn, Oregon, Texas, UGA/ND/PSU) then they will undoubtedly deserve the championship trophy.
  21. Some of the first round teams have an easier path to the semi finals than does Oregon, but at least one team (Texas) lost multiple starters due to injury. Oregon could also get Harper back with the time off, but nothing has been announced yet.
  22. There is a myth being perpetuated by ESPN and their gang of mouth breathers that the CFP should have the “12 best teams” competing for the championship. That’s very unlikely to happen because of the automatic bids for conference champions. There are a couple of things that have come out of the chief mouth breather, Kirk Herbstreit’s, pie hole that I would like to counter. Best vs. Most Deserving: He said this in reference to Indiana and SMU after their playoff performances. It’s not about who is best or more deserving. It’s about who “earned” their way in through their 12 game regular season performance. The three 3-loss teams that Herbie was honking for didn’t earn their way into the playoffs. Ranked Wins: Whenever I hear this I like to counter with the term “unranked losses”. These are obviously losses against unranked teams. Bama had two unranked losses and Ole Miss had three. A few playoff teams had one unranked loss (Tenn, Clemson, OSU and ND). The only way to overcome multiple unranked losses is to win your conference which is what Arizona State did. Who you beat is more important than number of wins: This was probably Herbstreit’s most idiotic comment. By his logic, NIU, Michigan and every mid-tier SEC team should be in the playoff. This is proof that lobotomies should be considered for SEC bias. I agree that the SEC is a very tough conference, but so is the NFC East (historically) in the NFL. I don’t see them getting the benefit of the doubt for beating up on each other. If the SEC teams feel like they should get special consideration because their conference is too hard then they should find another conference to play in. I know of one on the West Coast that has a few openings.
