  1. In other news concerning former Duck OC's Marcus Arroyo and UNLV are up 45-7 at the start of the 3rd in a toasty 103 degree stadium.
  2. Interesting move that I disagree with. Don't you want the fans involved?
  3. A novel approach, a deep dive by a statistician using facts. Where Should The Big Ten Expand Next? We Crunched The Numbers. | FiveThirtyEight FIVETHIRTYEIGHT.COM Which schools should the Big Ten poach next?
  4. Where Should The Big Ten Expand Next? We Crunched The Numbers. | FiveThirtyEight FIVETHIRTYEIGHT.COM Which schools should the Big Ten poach next?
  5. It hasn't stopped them for the past fifteen years. U$C could be 0-12 and the next recruiting class will make them NC contenders.
  6. Six alumni are in the NFL Hall of Fame, another performed well enough to be the #1 pick in the NFL draft. Only one qualified for a top two place at Oregon? Somebody needs to do their research.
  7. The self described "American Football Insider" from ActionNetwork (whatever that is) has breaking news! Somebody from Oregon asked a question in Chicago, nobody important involved.
  8. John Bosco is a private school with tuition of $15,000 per year. The inequality between private and public schools athletic teams will grow even wider as the NIL money flows to schools with wealthier parents. The sad part is the public school athletes with the greatest need probably won't get any benefits.
  9. From the Canzano mailbag Q: How is Oregon QB Bo Nix looking? — @ShawnVoican A: Mature, calm, and improved over his time at Auburn. Those are the things that people come away talking about when they see Bo Nix or spend time with him. Oregon’s quarterback got married in July, worked extensively with a private QB coach in the offseason, and appears motivated to change the narrative of his college career
  10. $1.2 billion annually is a big number but let's put it in context. I assume that figure is for the final year of the contract, seven years from now. ESPN reports "The Big Ten is projected to eventually distribute $80 million to $100 million per year to each of its 16 members.", the key word being 'eventually'. The $80 million figure and 16 teams is the 1.2 billion, but that may not be happening until the end of the decade. What will be the purchasing power of the $1.2 billion and $80 million per school in 2029-30 after seven years inflation? The US Bureau of Labor Statistics inflation calculator indicates if won't be as dramatic increase as it appears.
  11. There's a disconnect at UW that they're Notre Dame or Michigan. They aren't. They never have been.
  12. This one is big. ASU track and field's 'blueprint' for its growing throwing team - The Arizona State Press WWW.STATEPRESS.COM Arizona State University's independent student-run news organization covering Tempe, Phoenix, Mesa and Glendale.
  13. I wonder how many schools in the semi-pro league would prefer to revert to the traditionalist model. I don't think institutions like Vanderbilt, Perdue, Northwestern etc have any illusion of getting to the national championship game. Wouldn't they prefer to be on an equal footing?
  14. Agreed. Imagine PK endows the athletic dept with 5% of his net worth and that endowment returns 5%. Any media rights shortage is basically pocket change.
  15. This appears to be a good move.
  16. Impressive runner but apparently a neophyte when it comes to coaching. The only experience I find is a volunteer assistant cross country coach for one year (2009) at North Carolina and another volunteer assistant stint at Portland State in 2013. I guess HC Jerry Schumacher knows (coached?) her from the Bowerman Track Club. Where are our track experts when we need them?
  17. I saw that, but then he averaged under 4 yds per carry each of the next two years. Injuries?
  18. If they need a big powerful short yardage back he is already on the team, Noah Sewell. I'm skeptical of players looking for their third team in three years.
  19. Doubt it. How the report is presented may provide a clue but after distribution it will need to be analyzed, discussed, and questions asked with an inherent delay in getting the answers. Then more discussion, questions, etc. Frustrating but probably a good thing. Decisions of that magnitude should be taken with care and consideration, open and transparent unlike what was announced the end of June by the band UCLA and the Backstabbers.
  20. Add another name to the "no on semi-pro" list. I'm like The Kamikazi Kid, a rabid fan of basketball as it once was. Now I seldom pay attention as I have no connection to the names on the Oregon jerseys. Why bother, they will all be different next year. Thanks in large part to "Trader Bob" Whitsitt I lost all interest in the Trailblazers and haven't watched a minute of an NBA game in a couple decades. College football was all I had left and that is on life support. Sad.
  21. To me what stood out from the B1G article---For USC, they are the preeminent football brand out west.
  22. In the NCAA basketball tournament it is readily acknowledged that traveling across several time zones is a disadvantage. Why would football be any different?
