Better question: why does the "nations #7 guard" have less than ten offers?
-
One question is will anybody notice the two players mentioned in the article are sitting out? Both have appeared in four games, the sophomore receiver has two catches, both in the opener. The senior safety had three tackles to open the season, a single tackle in game two and no stats since. I'll guess an early decision to hit the portal happens regularly but isn't verbalized. We probably have a couple on OBD team.

Conflicting information available online. My guess is the 95 limit was enacted in 1978 and took effect in 1982. That transition would allow schools to honor existing scholarships without needing to cut players. That transition is hinted at with the further reduction to 85. The NY Times reported the 85 limit in January 1991 "...cut in football will reduce the annual limit of scholarships per school to 92 from 95 in Division I-A during the 1992-93 academic year, to 88 during the 1993-94 year and to 85 during the 1994-95 year."

Are The Early Dismissals Related To Conference Gyrations?

Canzano discusses this today. Canzano: Fire the football coach?! Cheers to one who stayed the course WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM "Someone buy Chris Hill a beer" the text read. -
If the coaches want to shut it down because it is a distraction that is fine. However I would like to see a sample size greater than one. Lanning's commented after the BYU game that the first play of the 4th quarter didn't show attention to detail, therefore they needed to reassess Shout. Shouldn't he have more data?

I am Surprised at the Wolfing and Showboating...Are You?

I hadn't thought of it before but of course NIL incentivizes showboating. The more attention a player draws to himself the more value generated. -
Another Coaching Opening for Dilly . . Wisconsin

Wonder if Barry Alvarez still has his fingerprints all over the head coaching position. I believe the new AD is an Alvarez disciple. -
Another Coaching Opening for Dilly . . Wisconsin

This is getting absurd. One would think 67-26 would earn a bit of loyalty. Bellotti had a few bad years. He went 6-5, 7-5, then 8-4 in 1996-8. In this environment he would have been fired. For a bit of humor it's behind a paywall but a local paper's headline didn't age well, dated yesterday. ‘An approach that has served us well’: Wisconsin AD Chris McIntosh will be patient with Paul Chryst through these tough times -
Did YOU Like Our Uniforms vs Stanford?

Oregon unis are cutting edge but the cummerbund effect isn't designed for football. The colors weren't as bright as Baylor earlier in the day but a bit garish for my taste. How to Wear a Cummerbund - Vittorio Menswear & Tuxedo WWW.VITTORIOFORMALWEAR.COM The cummerbund is a traditional tuxedo accessory that is designed to bridge the transition between your shirt and pants. It is used in place of (but not with) a vest. A cummerbund is always worn with... -
Problem is the new expanded conference will need new officials and Pac-12 officials will need new jobs. I don't think that ends the way we would like.

To me Ty Thompson has the demeanor of a guy who is putting the finishing touches on his transfer application. Maybe I should go back and watch his reps again but last night I really wanted to see Jay Butterfield get a shot, the the results with TT were disappointing.

ESPN has a video clip titled "Tempers flare on Georgia sideline after giving up TD". Maybe they have been reading their own press clippings. -
Coaching salaries and NIL deals are both getting to the obscene level. Jimbo Fisher is now paid $9 million annually for his 3-2 record. Is TAMU getting value for their $50,000 promise to each of their OL? Mel Tucker and Mario combine at a 4-5 record and roughly $175 million total from their contracts. Money like that will be the demise of college sports. Way to great an incentive to lie and cheat. Remember the "good old days" when we promoted Mike Bellotti to head coach at $180 thousand a year? It didn't cost thousands of dollars to have season tickets and a family could actually attend a game.

Mike Leach and Mississippi State are up 21-3 on the best team money can buy, Texas A&M. 5 minutes left in the third. -
Completely forgot about him. Decent DL coach but failed as a DC.

Amazing how fast Penix went from "#1 on my Heisman ballot" to the doghouse at 14/25 with 2 ints. UCLA defense looks better than it has in years. Did Don Pellum retire?

We must be looking at different data. ESPN team stats show Michigan State rushing for 38 yards against Minnesota, 42 yards at Washington. MSU averaged 2.7 per carry vs Minnie, only 1.4 against the mutts. Guess we will know soon enough.

Not sure I agree. Washington defensive stats show them ranked 20th in rushing defense, giving up 89 yards per game, 2.6 per carry. Oregon has punted 9 times this season and has not allowed a single punt return yard Perhaps Coach Joe Lorig is a big upgrade over the last several seasons.
