  1. This one's a bit of a head-scratcher to me. Sure a DC job with MSU would make career sense, but a lateral move as CB coach? I can't imagine the draw of his alma mater is that strong, especially since we're loaded and MSU is in rebuild mode. Could this possibly be Lanning giving him the nudge?
  2. Well the good news is that if he doesn't take this job we can feel pretty secure about his loyalty going forward. Here I though it was going to be a boring off-season and we still haven't heard what Harbaugh is doing.
  3. I think this has legs. I'm sure Nicky wanted to go out with another natty, but regardless he's still the GOAT. The timing fits, he's getting older and NIL and the portal are completely changing the game. Not saying he can't rebrand himself, but he really doesn't have anything left to prove at this point. I guess we'll see soon enough if DL was blowing smoke regarding his longevity in Eugene. Hoping for the best, but he's obviously on the short list, probably the main target. That's what Vegas says anyway and they do their homework, although I'm a bit surprised that Kiffen and Sark aren't listed on the current odds sheet.
  4. First of all, I'm a DL fan and I absolutely think we've got the right guy, but to quote Bill Parcels, "Let's put away the annointing oil". We routinely bad mouth Cristobal (myself included), but he had a winning record in rivalry games, won the conference, the Rose Bowl and beat tOSU in the Shoe. What's DL's biggest win? Sure 2-0 in bowl games but against an unranked UNC team and a badly overmatched Liberty. Yes we've beaten up on some decent teams including USC, Utah and the rodents, but where's the big win? The best team we've played we lost to twice. Next season we play Michigan, tOSU and the fuskies, not to mention a few teams that can trip us up if we let our guard down. We'll find out soon enough if he can win the big one.
  5. Always warms my cockles to see the fuskies lose!
  6. A fusky win just makes us little brother of the NW. Frick that. Won't do a thing to change East Coast/SEC bias (well Georgia would have beaten them both blah blah blah). Grudging respect for Penix and Deboer, at least they're not Huard or New-Weasel or Lame-Fright. Still wouldn't make me pull for them if you put a gun to my head. Now ask me how I really feel ha ha.
  7. Yeah that. Never ever ever root for the fuskies unless a win somehow benefits us. In this case it clearly doesn't. Sure I feel a little bile coming up pulling for a cheater like Harbaugh, but not nearly as much as a fusky fanbase with a real natty under their belt.
  8. I can't believe I clicked on this thread!
  9. I was pretty shocked when I read that. This really hurts his credibility in my book, I wonder where he finds these supposed Pac-12 "fans" that feel this way. Controlling the direction of the conference is one thing, taking all the proceeds earned by the 10 departing teams is another. Seems to me he's just making stuff up, either that or he's just completely tone deaf. I never would pay for his content anyway but I just unsubscribed to his free stuff.
  10. Personally I'm glad it's still on. Granted it won't be the same as before, but what is in college football going forward? As for the money grab, we would have done the same thing in their shoes. Besides, this isn't going to fly once you get it out of an eastern Washington courtroom IMHO. At some point cooler heads will prevail and a negotiated settlement for the distribution of P12 assets will be reached and we can all move on.
  11. Bit of a disagreement here Jon, as I understand it third-party NIL deals cannot make the player contractually obligated to play for a specific school. There's all kinds of gray area in the current NIL environment; players have had their deals revoked and conversely there is no real protection for the schools if a player bails. Why not get it all out into the open and let the schools negotiate directly with the athletes for NIL deals tied to playing? If a player can negotiate another side deal with Dr. Pepper or Google Shop, then more power to them.
  12. From Yahoo Sports: NCAA proposing new college athletics subdivision rooted in direct athlete compensation SPORTS.YAHOO.COM The NCAA will introduce a proposal that would grant certain schools more power to compensate athletes in a new way. This proposal specifically exludes "pay-for-play" but the schools would directly control their NIL deals. Seems like an inevitable next step to me.
  13. Shocker. In other news, water is wet.
  14. Annie, I appreciate the enthusiasm but's it's hard for me to get excited about this game. This just isn't a good matchup regardless of the stat lines. That said, if Bo and some of the other draft-eligible players choose to don the Oregon uniform one last time then I am honored to support them. Of course I'll watch!
  15. Gotta love Bo! That's character, doing what's best for the program instead of what's best for himself. Thanks for the memories Bo, I'll be pulling for you wherever you wind up in the future.
  16. Not much to say, Liberty gets their participation trophy hurray.
  17. We could do worse I suppose, but we could definitely do better. I'd take Cam Ward over him any day. That said, I'd really like to see someone in-house EARN the start next year.
  18. Nope don't see it diminishing the regular season at all. Sure in some cases both teams playing for a conference championship may already be in, but only one can be top four with a bye. That's a really big deal IMHO. Besides, look at the bubble teams. If we were at 12 teams this year, Iowa, Louisville and Okie State could get in with a win in their conference championship games. That's a whole lot of incentive, and Michigan, FSU and Texas would all be playing for a first round bye. Tell me that wouldn't matter to the teams involved?
  19. Texas is the one that concerns me. They are unlikely to lose to Okie State so will probably be a one-loss conference champion with their only loss to Okiehoma and a win over Alabama. Hopefully Alabama will be a two-loss team if Georgia beats them, but if Alabama wins then all bets are off. That said, control what we can control. If we don't finish then all the hypotheticals are irrelevant.
  20. Throw a banana in his boat when he's not looking.
  21. The Civil War is an Oregon tradition. I grew up in a house divided. I'm with you JB89, the CW is good for the state of Oregon, I'd hate to see it go away. I feel the courts will square the $ part of the equation and everybody can move on.
  22. Personally I hope he gives USuC the middle finger and holds out for an HC job if he's so inclined. I totally respect what they've built at Utah and hopefully for them they can hang on to him.
  23. FWIW- Sir Charles you're quite entertaining when you have your knickers in a knot about something. Beavs and Wazzu are in a tough spot, I get it, but in case they haven't figured it out it's every man for himself in this current realignment. I hate having the networks control the direction of college football with their divide and conquer strategy, but it's adapt or die and for now that's just how it is. The market has indeed spoken. It is reasonable for OSU/WSU to control the direction of the conference, they're the last ones standing (or left out, however you want to look at it). The then-remaining 10 did the same when they boxed the LA schools out of the board meetings. What is not reasonable is trying to abscond with the earnings of all 12 schools while they are still active members. That money has already been earned by the entire conference and each school still deserves their full share, even the traitorous LA schools. A bit of irony here, we're using the same argument against OSU/WSU that the Spoiled Children used against us in that our media brand is propping up the conference and it's bottom tier. As much as I hate the condoms and their entitled fan base, they did make a fair point here (we found out when we could only get $25 million/year without them). Touche, I guess the shoe's on the other foot now, but I'll always hate the way they burned it all down on their way out the door.
  24. On Tyler Schuck, not a chance. That ship has sailed, time to move on and I doubt he would consider it anyway. Looks to me like ASU is in desperate need of a QB. Best case is we already have next year's starter in our QB room (including 2024 recruits). This might seem unlikely, but it would be a real positive in my book to be able to recruit and develop our own talent. Maybe that doesn't matter as much any more with the transfer portal, but championship teams don't seem to need the portal much. Of course Bo was a transfer, but I think as a first-year coach DL was looking for his own guy to build a ream around. Once he has a few years of his own recruits in the "progrum" this shouldn't be needed as much IMHO.
  25. Sorry I don't have a link for you Jon but I read on one of my feeds that there are "substantial" penalties if the Pac-2 do any kind of a merger without all of the current MWC members. I guess we all suspect that relegation is bound to happen at some point, but it looks like the MWC has this covered for now.
