  1. Maybe not a shoo-in but certainly more than just a mention. It's a whole team effort and a whole lot of politics to boot.
  2. I'm not certain this is still true and it may be reflected in Dan's decisions to go for all these 4th downs when in FG range. Nothing, of course, can explain Dan's willingness to go for 4th downs in Duck territory, but that can probably be summed up by his large set of kahunnas or his total disregard for danger!
  3. Not if Mario insists on calling all the shots, offensive and defensive. Nor could I imagine Bo willing to play for someone like that. We all remember what Stein said about the willingness of he and the staff to give Bo his head at the line of scrimmage. That is not something MC has ever shown the willingness to do. (IMO).
  4. Fair enough. I also remember what happened to team morale and some of our players when he did leave. Can you imagine what would happen to this team if Dan let his name stay out there?
  5. In all fairness to Miami, they did give FSU at least as tough a battle as USC gave Oregon last night. Mario might just be a good O.C. away from a legitimate playoff team. He does recruit well. He just has to learn to hire the right O.C. and then LEAVE HIM ALONE to call the plays. I'm not sure that's in Mario's DNA to be able to do that. Btw, USC did hold Oregon down in scoring from their average but had Camden managed to kick the FG 39 points isn't that far off their average. O also held USC way below their's.
  6. Bingo! Have we already forgotten what happened to Oregon's recruiting AND morale when Mario was in the process of being poached by Miami? Heck, he even took some of our players and recruits with him, didn't he?
  7. The TV pundits on Pac-12 After Dark were right, "with the exception of the Kicking game, Oregon is about as complete a team as there is in the Pac and maybe the country". The Kicking game is more than suspect. It's a liability. It's not just missed field goals at critical times in the game (Washington & USC) but kickoffs out of bounds when what the team needs is one thru the end zone and un-returnable. Camden kicked at least 2 out of bounds last night. And this was in his home stadium in front of a home crowd. He's got to get this under control just as the rest of the team has to get penalties under control or this team isn't the "complete team" everyone is thinking or hoping it is. Both can and eventually will get you beat.
  8. Crime-i-ninny. This translates to a 65% winning percentage. Their next coach had better think this one over carefully. This also translates to about 10 wins per 15 outings, just about what a team will be playing if they get into the post-season. Dan, please stay put!
  9. Yes they did and if continued against the Beavers they could lead to an upset. The Beavers are kinda up and down this year but right now they're playing lights-out. We all know how many times both teams have ruined the other team's post season hopes. Reign those penalties in Oregon, please!
  10. Penalties, imo, will be the Duck's un-doing when they get to the post-season. And if they don't reign them in, maybe against the Beavers which will severely impact what that post-season looks like. I know a few were "bad calls" but many were not. For some reason, this is becoming an alarming trend. One game: few penalties. The next game: too many. Just my opinion. Happy for the win.
  11. I'd have to say Oregon didn't pass the eye test with this win. Over 20 penalties, failed to cover the spread and never put USC away til the very end. I'm afraid they've given ammunition to their critics and as I feared last week, Texas is the dark horse that could displace Oregon in the #6 slot. Plus, if O doesn't get the penalties cleaned up and play better, the Beavers are going to take Oregon to the mat. The Beavers are flat out scary.
  12. Even tho I think it would be best for UW to win this, I am rooting SO HARD for Utah to steal this win. 35-28 UW with about 10:10 left to play.
  13. Sounds like the meet up was a big success. Congratulations Charles. GO DUCKS!
  14. I guess they didn't need him much. Penn State had almost zero Offense.
  15. Watching the Mich - Penn St. game makes me even more thankful for coach Lanning & Stein. Penn St. has a defense that can play with anyone but their Offense really sucks. Plus, there was no adjustment away from what wasn't working. That was the most un-imaginative play calling I've seen in a long time. Yeah, Michigan has a terrific defense, but my Gosh. Penn State had no clue how to do anything but run the ball and when that didn't work - they ran the ball again. And when that didn't work - run it some more! This isn't even counting all the bad decisions Franklin made by going for two points twice when they didn't need them to stay in the game. The last one took any slim chance they had of making a comeback.
  16. That. I didn't mean to say Oregon was "weak" because clearly they are not. But passing D, imo, is the one area that is the weakest. Let's say "least strong".
  17. Yep, it's still in limbo. College Game Day just now (7:25 am PST) announced Jim won't get his hearing on a stay of his suspension. It's scheduled for next Friday. Michigan had a private jet on the tarmac warming up to get him to Happy Valley Pennsylvania in case he got a stay. So, no Harbaugh on the sidelines today. Seems like a slap on the wrist but ... you know he has to be fuming right now. The ruling just came down.
  18. Wouldn't it better for UW to win big vs. Utah (like Oregon did) and THEN lose to O in the Championship game? The higher the ranking for O's opponents, the better the win for O. Of course, there's a lot of assumptions here that both UW & O will be able to win out and that's far from certain even now. Even today, I'd have O on upset alert because it certainly could happen. USC is most dangerous in just the area O is the most vulnerable, imo.
  19. This whole thing is a real mess. Who's the regulatory authority, Michigan University, The Big-10 or the NCAA? It's not like there's a Commissioner over the CFB like there is in the NFL. As I understand it, the University is claiming that they should be the ones to determine if punishment is due and what it should be and how it should be administrated, if at all. It's a mess all right and some are even saying nothing wrong has been done. Not me, I have no opinion on this other than to say, it's a mess....
  20. What's a guy say when football talk devolves into the height of dead Dictators? lol Maybe we're all getting just a tad nervous ahead of this last Pac-12 matchup with USC?
  21. Yes it is. and that's the sad reality these days. Whatever Kris does, I wish him well and good luck. It would still be nice to see him remain a Duck.
  22. Yes, and 'their' "intelligence" is highly artificial. 'Garbage in - garbage out' was the saying at Nuclear Power school when I was a young man.
