  1. True that. A little bird tells me the Midwestern schools on our schedule next year are not going to put up with 7:30 pm (PST) starts. Just guessing.
  2. OBE, I gave you a bad recommendation in my previous post above. The Ninkazi Better Living Room has closed as of the 29th of October. The news came as a shock to a lot of us, not the least of which were the employees who worked there. 4 days notice is all they had before Ninkazi, one of Eugene's most famous craft brewers, shuttered the 3 year old building, or lat least the pub portion of it. Too bad, it would have been a bit of a treat for you guys to explore, esp. if you're into metallic sculptures made of old Harley Davidson parts. But there's still the Beer Stein, the Steelhead Brewery, Hop Valley, Oakshire and a ton of others in Eugene/Springfield. Sorry about the misleading advice. Have fun!
  3. My thoughts (and worries) as well. But my friends have been known to call me 'Eyeore' on occasion.
  4. Late night starts are even bad for us in Oregon. I mean, going out to Autzen for a night game that ends around 11:30 pm local presents a lot of logistical issues, not the least is traffic. I live almost 90 miles from the stadium and that means an over-night stay is almost mandatory. But good luck getting a room in Eugene on nights like tomorrow when USC comes to town. Or, the Civil War game. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see a good number of vacant seats Saturday night due in part to the weather but largely due to the problems above. It might still be a "sell-out" but I learned years ago, that doesn't necessarily mean 'all seats full'. The last night game I attended we weren't out of the stadium til after midnight. But, oh! Are they fun to watch! Autzen under the lights can be magical. GO OREGON!
  5. Hopefully, Oregon has had their single (and only) slip-up in Seattle. It's also a testament of how good they are that it hasn't yet proved fatal to their championship chances.
  6. Could be Tez just won the position outright and Kris is wanting to preserve his red-shirt. either to play again next year as a Duck (Troy Franklin my leave) or transfer. His production on the Scout team is both a testament to his willingness to help his team but also his smarts because he probably knows he's got to progress and learn more, get better, stay sharp, if he's to generate the interest needed to have another good team want him. I wonder if Kenny Dillingham would be interested in having him come play for ASU and if so, if Kris would be willing to go to a team in the rebuilding stage? I'd rather he stay at Oregon and be a Duck for the remainder of his career. He could still be very productive for them.
  7. But that would mean the commentators differed on who they think are the "best" players vice the D.C. actually on the field coaching. I don't know about this being the case. But, like you say, I guess we'll see. I do not see this game as an easy one for the Ducks to win. In fact I can see this being a game they could lose if they don't play their best game yet.
  8. From what we've seen and from what we've heard, the Pac-12 is one of the top, if not the top, conference in the country this year. The way we all play 9 in-conference games results in records like they are as good teams beat good teams and records tend to even out. In other words, the Pac-12 eats itself. To be 5-1 in THIS conference is saying something. To finish 8-1 would shout something. Beating UW in the Conference Championship game will absolutely scream something. Likewise, should UW finish 12-0, then 13-0 means they are probably #1 or 2 in the nation. A 12-1 Oregon would certainly be in the top 4, imo.
  9. Coach, I don't suppose this is the play that the Ducks were running when the ball was snapped early hitting Tez Johnson's hip and resulting in a TD by Cal, was it?
  10. If Oregon, Texas and Alabama all win out: well, there you are. Oregon #4, Texas #5 and Alabama #6. What's so hard about that?
  11. But do carry some rain ponchos in green or yellow. They make nice Fall Colors for the Trojans to gaze at. You can wave 'em on 3rd and long while the sound meter goes off the scale.
  12. I can honestly say I never, in my entire adult life, EVER thought I'd be reading about a college football player's Rolls Royce getting booted in a campus parking lot! R we kidding? $2000 bicycle, maybe. But a Rollie?!! Onward & Upward. Go Ducks.
  13. I remember how depressed I felt when Mario left so soon. Not 'cause he was so good but because it was right on the heels of Taggert's departure and I worried Oregon was gonna be trapped in a revolving-door coaching situation. If I had known what we were getting in Dan Lanning, I'd been doing handstands and somersaults. And as everyone on this site has said: What a trade UP we got!
  14. Kind words Jon. Thanks. I'm shaving this morning so I'll have my game face on by Saturday evening. I'm even rolling over and signing up for Fubo so I can watch the Ducks throttle Tommy Trojan live. No animals (horse or otherwise) should be hurt in this throttling. (Unless said horse tries to run thru the Duck D-line at the 4). What a game this one should be.
  15. USC will be a challenge for out Defense, esp. the DB's. Their QB is one of the very best in the nation and he has fast, talented receivers who can make amazing catches. This won't be easy for Oregon but O has the coaching, the talent and the momentum to get this done in a deciding fashion. Finishing these last three games to earn another shot at UW is going to be exciting to watch.
  16. Welcome to Eugene. I wish I could report you'll have good weather because Eugene in the Fall is lovely with all the changing fall colors. But then, if you're from the Midwest you probably see that each year too. Alas, it looks like it might be a bit wet & gusty. Well, that's Oregon... You've picked a great time to watch the Ducks play USC. This is an old rivalry that, quite frankly, USC has the decided edge going back many years. But recent decades have seen th Ducks win many more of those matchups. This game is always big, but especially now that Oregon is sitting at #6 in the CFB and USC sporting the current Heisman winner. I won't try to answer all your questions, I'm sure you will get responses from others. While in town one one place you and your friends might want to check out is the Ninkazi Brewing 'Better Living Room' out in the Wittaker District off Blair Ave. It's pretty unique for a Brew Pub. But Eugene is full of craft beer pubs, you could spend a week visiting them and never get to all of them Also, check out the topic at the very top of this forum, some Ducks fans on this blog are planning to meet Friday afternoon, evening in town. You might have a great time meeting some of the fellows and the moderators of this forum. Enjoy your visit! And, we hope you are treated to a great performance by the Oregon Ducks! GO MIGHTY OREGON!
  17. This should serve as an illustration to all of us how important the scout team is and why having every single person on the roster all working together as a team to make the Team better. Good for Dan Lanning for calling the Scout team out to the Press and the fans.
  18. I clipped out my two favorite parts: the 1st sentence and the last. Not that those in-between weren't good. This just sums it all up pretty succinctly. Cheers!
  19. Steven has just the candidate selected: Brady Hoke. I think it's a marvelous choice. And I'm sure Riley probably doesn't know him!
  20. My original idea a few years back was for an expansion of 12 major conferences with ALL teams in a conference (that means you too, Notre Dame). Then the 12 Conference winners would go to the Playoffs. This would require the creation of 12 roughly equal conferences or as equal as the CFB could make them. At year's end, 24 teams would vie, in their respective conference championships, for one of the 12 slots with rankings determining the matchups. But that's too many games and unless the top 4 teams get a bye while the remaining 8 teams fight it out for the right to meet them, it wouldn't work. With the expansion of the Big 10 and the SEC, it appears th CFB is moving to fewer and much bigger conferences, with an equal number of teams, roughly, to achieve that 8, then 4, then 2 team showdown that most fans want to see. Or 16, then 8, then 4, then 2. The latter is doable if there are 8 conferences and each conference holds a championship game between the top 2 teams. That's 16, then 8, then 4, the 2. Voila!
  21. Going back and carefully watching just how the Cal running back got knocked out it appears that it was a completely legal, fair and coached attempt to stop progress and separate the ball carrier from the ball (which it did). Nothing nasty or illegal. Just a hard, hard hit and a sudden stoppage of progress. Thud indeed. GO MIGHTY DUCKS. ps: Glad the Cal player is gong to be OK. But I bet he doesn't want to 'meet' Kenyon Ware-Hudson at the line of scrimmage again.
  22. As I said earlier (last week) I'm done with underestimating this team. Before, I'd said 70 points against any Pac-12 or Power 5 team is way too optimistic. Now, I'm not so sure. Lanning, Stein, Lupoi & Co. have this team really beginning to rev things up. While any win is a good win this team seems to be (almost) unstoppable - unless they stop themselves. The only limit on how many points this team can score is the limit on how many possessions they get. USC needs to figure out a way to hold on to the ball. Good luck with that.
  23. Yes! Well, we're 1/2 way there. The Yellow unis are my personal favorite, tho w/chrome helmets. These'll do nicely, though. GO DUCKS!
  24. Assuming O wins, which I think they will. OK, I'll stop complaining about the late start.
