The transferees could only guess at who was being recruited and who would actually sign on. No, I think there were other reasons for their departure and many of them were personal. Playing time was a big part of it as well as schemes and roles within that. We haven't see any really big names (recruit-wise) in the RB room yet and I'm getting a little concerned about that.

It's Miami. There are a lot of reasons kids from around the country want to play in the Mecca of College football, Florida. California had it once. So did Texas. Right now, it's Florida and even a moderately good recruiter has half the work done for him. Mario's good enough to be above Moderate. Doesn't mean he will be able to keep them on the team if they continue does the usual path of Cristobal ball. There's this thing called Transfer Portal.

Who Fills Out Oregon's QB Room Behind Bo Nix in 2023?

Bringing Hudson Card in would be admitting TT is a bust. -
How Many Quarterbacks Can One Team Sustain?
Mic replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If there was ever an understatement regarding the college football recruiting landscape this is it. The only way I can see more than two or three QB's is on a team everyone wants to be on because they know their chances of winning the National Championship are so great nobody else has a chance. And with the CFB Playoffs expanding to 12 teams now - those days are gone too. -
Quaaack! OG Junior Angilau is a Duck--A HUGE Target

And a few very good backups - injuries being the nasty party-poopers they are. Depth is important and Oregon's going to add more to back these up. Any idea on a RT in the portal you're high on? -
Breaking: 5-Star Edge Matayo Uiagalelei has Committed to be a DUCK!!
Mic replied to Ktmguy2018's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This is a good start to a possibly very big day for Oregon. -
I'm a long-time Bears fan, never too much interested in Pittsburg but you had to hand it to them for the SB runs they had. Franco was one of those guys that was easy for fans of other teams to like even in they weren't Steeler fans. I'm sorry to hear of his passing. Nowadays, 72 isn't that old anymore.

Where Bo Nix fits into the 2023 Heisman Trophy picture
Mic replied to DiscoDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Was a chance to appear in NY for the award a factor in Bo's return to Oregon? I haven't hard him voice that, and I doubt he would. But it wouldn't surprise me if it was. With an essentially new O-line and receivers core it would take a real Heisman performance to get him back in the picture, imo. -
Hard to tell and I don't want to knock a young man I don't know but he does seem like the type to jump into the Portal if things go south for UCLA. One thing I haven't seen mentioned enough is that players going to UCLA may be doing so because Chip, a former NFL head coach, would have some pretty solid connections to several NFL team organizations. This is something Dan Lanning would lack because of his youth and non-NFL experience.

If that's what it came down to then he went to the right school. Last thing Oregon needs (imo) is to get into a bidding war with a school with the assets and endowments of the likes of UCLA. Either he wants to be a Duck under Dan Lanning or he wants >$$ to be a Bruin under Chip Kelly. Good luck to him - cause I think he's going to need it after UCLA makes the big move to the B1G. I had a feeling from the get-go that this NIL thing was gonna wreck havoc on collegiate sports and I think we're beginning to see that now. Just the tip of the iceberg.

And am I right in thinking DTR's gone too?

Oregon’s NLI Signing Day Could be Insane
Mic replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
All this news, re-news, un-news and flip-flops makes my pointy head hurt. I'll wake up Thursday morning and sort it all out - trying not to be too disappointed or (dare I say it?) too jubilant. GO OREGON! -
Ducks Signing National Letter of Intent...Hooray!
Mic replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Nice to have the hometown kid sign on. Eugene/Springfield have given Oregon some pretty 'fair' players over the years. Somewhere, someone has a running score card on who and how many ... -
Well we do know this - it's a whole different brand of football being played in the Midwest than the West coast and big, strong teams can be very hard to beat, esp when playing in their home states in October and November. Of course, Chip should know all about that.

Canzano: Bo Nix, Dante Moore, A Swirling Pac-12 Picture
Mic replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Well, some kids are. You remember how Bo Nix looked the first year he played at Auburn. It's one of those mysteries of Life why some players do well and some do not given seemingly equal amounts of talent. It might be what's between the ears that really matters. Bo had it. TT didn't. At least, not yet. -
I'm no great prognosticator but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say UCLA is going to find the sledding might tough in the B1G next season. They looked great this year (til Oregon upset their apple cart) but I don't see them looking much better than mediocre next season. I could be very wrong, of course and they still have Chip Kelly leading them - and if that's what Moore wants, that's what he got.

Mic replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Frankly Jon, I'm not really disappointed about losing him to UCLA. We have our own 5* QB sitting right here in Eugene and he's never panned out - at least not yet. 5*'s means some scouts think the potential is there. It doesn't mean that it is. If Donte Moore turns out to be Heisman material, we'll all lament "what might have been". If he doesn't, we'll forget all about him. Time to move on to the next prospect. And we still have a legit Heisman candidate in Bo Nix. -
I'm ecstatic that Bo's returning - this is big for the Ducks. But I'm kinda puzzled by it. Didn't Bo think the Pro teams were interested in him enough to declare himself for the Draft? What's he got to gain by risking another season? But I'm happy he's staying on ...

Transfer Portal: Players Ducks Have Offered
Mic replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
A pretty serious injury from the sounds of it. O may be playing this one cautiously. Teammate of Hudson Card. Could be a get but why the transfer when he was a solid starter before the injury? Most kids transfer due to not enough playing time Not so with Angela. -
It might be interesting to see how many transfers Oregon is losing as compared to Miami and ASU.

UCLA might have him now but after they fall on their butt next season O will get him back in the Transfer portal. -
We'll get him on transfer next year when he finds out how much UCLA sucks and how they fall to the bottom of the B1G.

Austin Novosad: Duck's Plan B at Quarterback?
Mic replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
6'3", 180. Definitely needs some beefing up in the weight room. But he's just a kid so that can change. -

8-4*'s, 4-3*'s & 1-5*'. Not bad at all. Add to that Bo Nix's return (when it could have been otherwise) and Oregon's looking pretty good.
