  1. Me too. Given recent history (Bo's performance and TT's struggles) a proven QB transfer could be extremely valuable.
  2. Five 5*'s, wow. And three 4*'s. I'm old enough to remember when Oregon was happy just to get 3*'s committing, with an occasional 4*. How things have changed from 20 years ago. I hope we get some of these players.
  3. I like his focus on the game at hand. He has a lot of time after the bowl game to make his decision. Speaks well of the young man.
  4. Nix staying for one more season would be good, no? A bird in the hand ....
  5. Sorta takes some of the glamour out of playing the game with so many good players (and starters) opting out. On the one hand, it can be "good" news for Oregon increasing their chances of winning but on the other hand raising the risk of a loss to NC looking even worse if O should stumble like they did to OSU. I really don't know what to think except that many bowl games are losing a lot of their luster - if they had any before.
  6. If Cam returns for another (8th!) season it kinda tells me he still holds out a lot of hope for a look-at by the pro scouts and an invite to the combine. He really needs a full healthy season to have a chance, imo, to make a pro roster. TE's are in high demand. But they gotta be able to play. I wish him all the good luck in the world.
  7. One would think (?) that IF Ty Thompson were going to transfer he might have announced it by now. However, this 1st window is open till the 18th of Jan. and there's another one after that. It's sorta coming down to "last man standing" or "last man not in the portal". The whole thing is frustrating.
  8. Forgive me if this is old news but I haven't seen it reported anywhere on the Forum yet: Today it was announced that the starting time for the Beavers to play in the the Las Vegas Bowl has been moved UP to 11:30 am (a horrendous start time, btw) instead of the original start at 4:30 pm. It's due a conflict with the turf differences required by the Las Vegas Raiders who are scheduled to also play the next day. It's complicated. The story is on OregonLive.com as reported by MSN. I couldn't generate a link for some reason (?). The Beavers get screwed again. And neither Oregon or Phil Knight can't be blamed for any of it. Oregon State kickoff time for Las Vegas Bowl moved to 11:30 a.m. due to NFL scheduling issue WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Raiders' game in Allegiant Stadium the following day had a time change, and the NFL club needs extra time to prepare the...
  9. Only if they're good enough to be real Ducks. Then, all's welcome, if they can play great football.
  10. Boy, the Duck's O-line really earned it. Congratulations to the entire Offensive line, staff and crew.
  11. I am going to the Holiday Bowl in that we will drive 26 miles to town and take in the game at the local pizza parlor/pub. I can't get it on my home TV. Does that count?
  12. Oh, you're so Old School! None of that matters anymore, it's all about 'feelings' and wishes and hopes and everyone getting a trophy. Don't you know that? (Of course, I'm speaking purely facetiously).
  13. I daren't go there ... I've been beat up enough already.
  14. My vote would go to Smith because he is managing to "do more with less" than just about anyone else in the conference. But then, DeBoar managed to turn UW into a solid team and title contender in just his 1st season. It's taken Smith 5+ seasons to get the Beavers (almost) there. Plus, DeBoar's team beat Oregon in Eugene at full-strength (till near the end). Congrats to both. Maybe Dan Lanning can win it next year.
  15. Bo's ready to go I think, more so than a lot of other college QB's who tried out for a team position. Plus, he's older and more mature than some who have taken the plunge. In fact, he's mature enough to make his own decision, on his own - this isn't always the case with some of these young men leaving college. You know before they go that the professional meat-grinder is going to grind them into fodder. I think Nix is prepared both mentally and physically with enough tools in his bag to get a real good look at by the Pros. Still, I wish he'd stay one more season - but that's a purely selfish reason.
  16. Both. Try for the win (for pride of achievement and recruiting) and if they get ahead far enough (and think they can hold it this time) let Thompson in the game so he can put that under his belt. The win is important but since Ty's stayed on the roster all season, practiced with the team, not declared for the draft - yeah, give him another chance and let him play in something more than just a regular-season game. Why not?
  17. Mine too, until the United States Navy, Submarine Service happened. I was quickly re-schooled.
  18. Maybe, but how much NIL money can a guy get when he jumps from team to team? Maybe he found out the Pro's weren't doing back flips over him and is blaming it on the team he's on, figuring another change is needed. Good luck with that strategy.
  19. Just a short aside gleaned from Canzano's article: Caleb Williams should not be included as a finalist for Heisman. I'm predjudiced but I think any player displaying obscenities on his fingers regarding anyone, including opponents, on camera should not be held up on a national podium. Leave him in LA where he's better suited and maybe he will rethink his boorish behavior.
  20. He'd certainly be a big 'Get' for any team. And, he'd look pretty good in Duck gear. The article lists BYU as 100% level of confidence 3. Utah should have a good chance, beating USC like they did. Oregon too, for beating Utah. I hope it's the Ducks.
  21. Speaking of D.J. did anything ever come out about what sort of discipline he's facing for that unfortunate incident with the fan at Reser? I wonder if this might not have had some affect on his wanting to sit out the Holiday bowl?
  22. I thought it was 'number of snaps by transfers', but regardless, Nix had a lot. I'd say a lot more than 50% of the offensive snaps, not total snaps, of course. O didn't punt much nor kick many FG's. Extra points, yeah, a lot of those. Gosh, I hope Nix comes back for one more year!
  23. While I can't pretend to understand all this or give advice I'd say that the implementation of the CFP system (and esp. now that it's set to expand to 12 teams) is what is killing the whole concept of Bowl games. Bowl games came into existence largely because of the fact that there was no national playoff system and hence no way to really crown a National Champion other than to just 'vote' one in given their won/loss record. The more wins (and esp. the more wins against high ranked teams) the better the chance of getting "voted" as the NC. A very poor system at best and one that still amazes me that it lasted as long as it did. Getting a win against another high ranked team at a New Year's Bowl game went a long way towards getting votes for National Champion Now that the CFP is expanding, expect to see some of these lesser important bowl games slowly just fade away. The Bowl marketeers will make desperate attempts to keep them on life support because of the revenue they can sometimes generate. But as that revenue begins to shrink, (as interest in them fades) so will the chances of them surviving. Would I go to the Holiday Bowl if I could swing it? Yeah, probably. I'll certainly be watching it on TV. But will it still be around in a few years? That's pretty doubtful imo. There will be a morphing for some of the bigger ones into the playoff system, but that's about it, also imo. Enjoy the trip and game!
  24. Well, then I guess the 'up-side' here would be there won't be a third transfer. lol
  25. Better D = more ball possessions. More ball possession = more everything offensive (but hopefully not punts).
