I don't suppose anyone knows the answer to the doctor's question, do they? My guess is not very many 4 stars and fewer, if any, 5. Kayvon Thibaduex was a 5-star but he dun gone.

Official Uniform for Husky Game Announced...
Mic replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
LOL. Do we have the choice? -
As long as Oregon finishes the game with more points than the opponent I'm happy. If Lanning can build a defense that can pitch a shutout or two later down the road - so much the better. Baby steps. Except on Offense!

15-2 is nice. But the historical over-all isn't so nice. Just chipping away at that one game at a time.

Official Uniform for Husky Game Announced...
Mic replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
These will give a good contrast for Bo to see when going thru his progression. I wonder if the Fuskies will wear purple or white? -
I think (don't know) that this happens because it's what (in Oregon's case with Kelly & now Lanning) it's what the team has, player personal-wise. Charles has a nice image and the quote along the lines of "give us three more years". The hope and expectation being Lanning will build a Defense to match the Offense we have now. Wouldn't that be sweet?

Pathway to Playoffs? Win Out. That's it. The only pathway Oregon has and the only one they need. Win Out.

Official Uniform for Husky Game Announced...
Mic replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Ah ... thanks Charles & David! I've been waiting for the announcement all day. I might be going out to the game Saturday, nice to "color-coordinate" things!! These yellow uniforms are my personal favorite, but with the chrome helmet instead. Very nice! -
WATCH: Coach Lanning Meets with Media Prior to Washington Game
Mic replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
He's getting 'better' at giving vague answers and deflecting the media's questions. I suspect the media are starting to get just a little more frustrated while at the same time gaining a real measure of respect for Dan Lanning. I think he carries his naturally competitive nature with him in all walks of life including the Questions & Answers game all coaches have to engage in. Not as vague as Chip Kelly or Bill Belichiek, not as flippant as Mike Leach (certainly) and not as revealing as the media would wish. In other words, just about right. -
For what it's worth I did watch the entire post-game interview with the Washington staff (post OSU) and Kalen DeBoar was pretty respectful as well towards Oregon when asked. He seemed a bit unwilling to dive in too deep about the rivalry but was quick to let the listeners know he was aware of it. I think he's a pretty straight-shooter and Washington probably has found a decent coach that will make Oregon stay awake at nights. Fans are the ones who push the rivalries the most, of course, because the players come and go with the majority of them from states other than Oregon and Washington. Same with our respective coaches in recent years. Rivalries are good for ginning up the fan base and excitement, for selling tickets and NIL items. The media capitalize of them as well for similar reasons. I think, by and large, both Lanning & DeBoar are probably above all that except for maybe motivating the kids to play hard and take practice a bit more seriously. It's fun to have the rivalries but they can be overstated and over exaggerated at times - even over acted when certain idiots get carried away with their chanting (BYU) and throwing objects and insults around. I hope the crowd at Autzen Saturday is excited, motivated but somewhat respectful. I'll probably be there with them and we'll see how they behave - at least in our little area of the stands. Go Oregon!

5-Star DL David Hicks Visiting the Ducks this Weekend

No, I understand. I was just being factious and kidding, hence the winking face. Please don't take me too seriously. -
5-Star DL David Hicks Visiting the Ducks this Weekend
Mic replied to DuckIt's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Thanks Charles. I'm kinda thinking along the lines of why not just drop the verbiage "officially committed" and just call it a "maybe" instead? -
My thinking on this is: 1) Lanning & Lupoi are giving up the underneath stuff (behind the Linebackers but in front of the DBs) to prevent explosive plays. 2) Lanning & Dillingham are figuring on out-scoring the opponent and don't either care (not likely) or aren't expecting to be able to keep the opponent from scoring but instead slowing them down to limit the number of possessions they get for scoring. If you can outscore your opponent who cares how many 3rd downs they get? I know he 'says' they want to limit the 3rd down conversions of the opponent (interviews) but I think it takes a back seat to the above situation. Stats are nice - but the one that matters most is the final score.

I absolutely agree with your rankings but I snipped out these two in particular. You've nailed it, David. OSU could very well be in your "Top Tier" and not just one slot below Washington in the Middle Tier were it not for the unfortunate situation with their QB. This will probably be a year where the Beavs will look back and say "Oh, what might have been"! They clearly have a defense to compete at the highest level in the Pac-12. And for those who remember all the friendly "arguments" we had back in the day on Glenn Hanna's Duck Dugeon about what wins Championships (Defense Wins Championships - No! - Offense Wins Championships) the Beavers are the poster children of why a team must have both to win Championships. To say "Defense wins Championships" is really only seeing half of the picture. After all, at the end of the game, the team with the most points is the "Winner". Always has been, always will be.

Garbage Time Reps for Back-Ups Don’t Matter
Mic replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I went back and watched the game film and he was definitely tackled behind the line of scrimmage. I guess it was ruled as a "loss on a run" instead? But if so, then shouldn't Bo's (sack) have been ruled the same? Must be some serious grey-areas here in how sacks get counted. I have to say I agree with David Marsh - it looked like a sack to me. Happy to be wrong! -

Certainly A&M has to be a disappointment, Okla too, for that matter. But that's this year, not next. Perhaps a coaching change in the works for both schools will factor in to his decision. But David, I don't understand: if he's "officially committed" doesn't that mean he's "committed" and made his decision? Or is "officially committed" meaningless nowadays? -
Canzano, while assessing USC's path to the Playoffs mentions this: "You can argue that USC’s path is cleaner than Oregon’s because it doesn’t involve making anyone forget a high-profile blowout loss. But I’m still looking for a signature win by the Trojans." No, but they do have a loss - to Utah, by one point. So, is a loss in week 7, followed by a weak showing against Arizona after a bye week for preparation, better than Oregon's loss to Defending National Champion Georgia, in Atlanta followed by an 8 game win streak by blowout margins (sans one game on the road to WSU) ?

CFB Playoff Rankings: Top 25 for Week 11
Mic replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think most of us know the path to a Playoff berth: win out. Anything less = no cigar. There will be teams above them to lose - there have to be with the schedules and conference championships the way they are. If the Ducks can hold serve and win their championship I see no way they won't be involved in the Playoffs. It's not rocket-science; Canzano seldom goes out on a limb. -

That's the disconcerting part - we haven't seen anything yet from Ty. The sack he took last weekend was a blot against the O-line more than just a "safe play". I'd hoped he would have had more grit and pride in his team then to let that happen needlessly. -
The young man was really special.

Something has to change for those of us who live so remotely that cable tv is not an option. This weekend's game is on Fox once again, like the UCLA game. This means either I'll be out at Autzen with a friend that has season tickets or in town (25 miles away) to see the game at a pub. Yes, I know I could stream Fubo TV but I'm already streaming Prime, Sling Orange & Blue, Acorn, and Peacock. How many services can a person keep streaming (and keep track of) before they call it Enuf? I'm almost there now. If Amazon can solve this then perhaps I'll have a better option than streaming every service out there just to see 12 games a year of my favorite team.

Ducks vs Washington: Game-Prep Article Thread
Mic replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
More than any other game since WSU this game will show everyone how well Oregon can cover (or not) a pass-oriented Offense with a pro-style, or pocket QB . Not that Penix is totally 'pro-style', but probably more so than others O has seen so far. I'm hearing anywhere between 60-70% of all Wash's offensive plays will come from the pass and that there will be multiple long shots over the top, deep - like the one that gave Colorado their only (81-yd) TD. I'm expecting Coach DeBoar to sneak a few QB runs into the Offense to catch Oregon off guard while attempting to cover all the passing he going to do. Even the pros have to run the ball occasionally, if only to avoid the sack and force the opponent to defend against it. -

Haasenritter was the only bright spot - he usually is - when the backups come in. To me, he epitomizes the statement made by RB Coach Locklyn "Effort don't take no talent." Not to say the young man isn't talented, because I think he is - but more than just about anyone else (certainly of the backups) he gives it the effort. Very glad to see David make mention of him and very hopeful Kilohanna stays around to get his shot as a starter. He's a lot of fun to watch run the ball. -

CFB Playoff Rankings: Top 25 for Week 11

Two reasons for wanting Oregon to win out and make the Playoffs. 1) It's Oregon, our OBD's. Our team. 2) To hear the football analysts lose their friggin' minds as they try to rationalize over and over about that first game loss to Georgia. Multiply point 2 exponentially should Georgia stumble and not make the Playoffs but Oregon does. That controversy will never die out, not in 100 years. lol
