  1. Also, we might not like it sometimes, but spreading out the offense and throwing screens to the outside opens up the running lanes too. This is what Chip Kelley did. He sent folks out wide to open up the middle (fewer people in the box/fewer people to block). CK's offense was a running offence primarily, but the passes outside made it easier.
  2. If I am remembering correctly, I believe that's what they did on that play. Tuioti (44) was in the middle, behind the defensive line a couple of yards. When the QB ran to the right towards the end zone, Tuioti ran fast to intercept him, but he ran into the back of one of the Ducks on the line, (I assume because he was pushed back by the offence). Tuioti fell down and the QB scored. The defense was called just as you described.
  3. It was probably influenced by the #9 last Tuesday in the one that counts. This Tuesday they will probably move up one.
  4. I certainly hope not.... because if he is, that means that Moga and Novosad are also below average. We have already said that Novosad and Moga could easily start somewhere else (something I agree with). I take all this to mean that BT could start somewhere else also. Will Stein and Dan Lanning didn't all of a sudden forget how to assess talent.
  5. You support your nomination well, but they face stiff competition from Mario Cristobal and Miami.
  6. Certainly sounds reasonable... And Charles agrees with you... 🤔 But I don't think I know enough to have an opinion.
  7. Thank you Mike, for all the work you put into this.
  8. Sounds to me like Lanning is saying that the only way he is leaving is if he is fired. I like that optic. Maybe we'll have to force him into retirement in another 50 years.
  9. THAT!!! I wouldn't feel bad at all if Indiana won it all this year. Cignetti is an awesome coach who wins! (Google him.) Dan Lanning is still learning. We have compared Dante Moore to Nix and Gabriel and concluded that Moore needs Moore experience to be on their level. We can't say the same thing about Lanning comparing him to coaches who have had a couple decades of winning coaching practice??? I am rooting for the Ducks all the way... but if Indiana wins it.... GOOD FOR THEM!
  10. And I think we should too. If Dante had stayed in the game, would the score have been much different? There is no way to know.
  11. Brock Thomas was a 3* walk on out of Sheldon High School. Justin Herbert would have been a 3* walk on Sheldon High School if Oregon had not offered him a scholarship at almost the last minute. I don't think we should think of Brock as "just a walk on". I think we should look at him as a very talented young QB that is on the rise and capable of leading this team.
  12. The first thing I thought of was Bill Walton. He would have loved it. Of course, he would have loved it more if the whole jersey was tie-died. It would have turned Bill into a Ducks fan.
  13. This totally disgusted me. Over and over again you could read the lips that said, "F... you." I couldn't believe that the two men were taunting a kid in this way... And I couldn't believe that ESPN never went to another camera. Very disappointed.
  14. Louisville teaches Mario how to take a knee.
  15. In his own words, Kenjon "had to vent" about the Indiana game, and does so for the first 40 minutes of this Ducks of a Feather podcast. Great stuff!!! Find it here. (I hope this works because I have never linked anything before.)
  16. I wonder when the Ducks will reach the level of physicality that they need to compete in the B1G.
  17. Careful GatOr. The Ducks can grow on you. Welcome to the dark side.
  18. Ducks 34-31 1 Turnover 3 Sacks 307 Passing Yards
  19. A related thought that crossed my mind this week: There is a possibility that Hughes will decide that the room is too crowded and that, as good as the two freshmen are, he might never make it to RB1 at Oregon. What if Hughes decides to redshirt himself this year and then hit the portal for greener pastures (a la Bear Alexander last year)??? I'm pretty sure that someone came up with a whole lot of money to bring him to Eugene, but the guy wants to play too.
  20. We know that different teams would want Stein to be their HC. What we don't know is what Stein wants. Before DL came to Oregon, he definitely wanted to be a HC. He even had his notebook of hot young coaches that he wanted to recruit to join him. One of the things that he said when he got here is that he didn't want to take just any head coaching job. He wanted to go someplace where he could win a national championship. He didn't want a stepping stone. He wanted a destination. He wanted a place where he could settle down and raise his family. He didn't want to be moving them around every few years. His actions over the last 3+ years have proven that this was his intent. DL stated that he was willing to stay at Georgia until this type of job opened up for him. Then the Oregon job came open. I wouldn't be surprised if DL called up Oregon and told them he wanted to apply for the job. Dillingham wanted to eventually be the HC at ASU. That is why he left after only one year at Oregon. If it wasn't for the fact that ASU came calling three years ago, Dillingham might still be a Duck. Back to Stein. What does he want? Does he want to take just any P4 job? or does he want to go where there is enough support, or at least the possibility of drumming up enough support, for competing at the highest level? What I'm saying is that Stein might want to stay at Oregon until the right job opens up, not just any job. He has a pretty good job now. Maybe he wants to slip on a championship ring before he leaves. That would get him some really good job offers... and it might not be a very long wait. So, I am not going to worry or even think about Stein leaving until it happens. Rumors will always fly. I don't need to get caught up in them. When/If Stein leaves, I trust DL will find an adequate replacement, hopefully someone who will also be as successful leading the QB room.
