  1. Maybe but we've seen a lot of QBs with extremely high draft stock come back for their senior seasons and NIL helps even more now.
  2. Anthony Newman was raving about Harmon during this week’s episode of Talkin’ Ducks. Said he has an explosive first step and is beating double teams.
  3. While I agree that a program cannot build a sustainable program through the transfer portal alone, it is an invaluable tool to plug holes in a roster for a program to have the opportunity to compete for a birth in the playoffs every season. Top programs will continue to rely primarily on high school recruiting, developing talent and retaining players. However, there will be holes in a roster for a multitude of reasons - high school players not developing as expected, unexpected transfers to other programs, career or season ending injuries, etc. A coach would be irresponsible to his team, if he did not try to address those gaps by bringing in the best possible players to compete. Identifying talent through the portal is less risky than high school recruiting, IMHO, because the players are older/more mature and you have tape and seen how they perform against college level competition. Yes, you have to do your due diligence to make sure that the players are a good culture fit and can play in your system but you also have to do this for high school players and I have complete faith in Coach Lanning and staff to do this work. While Oregon has had success with transfer QBs, given how complicated it is to learn a new playbook, Oregon appears to be trying to develop the position long term in-house with Dante Moore's transfer (he'll have 3 years to play at Oregon, if I'm not mistaken) and high school QB recruits. Another positive that the author doesn't mention is the benefit to the transfer players. It's great that players like Noah Whittington and Tez Johnson are able to transfer from smaller programs and show that they have the ability to succeed at the highest levels of college football, or players like Bo Nix, Dante Moore and Traeshon Holden to get an opportunity for a fresh start. P.S. - Florida State is struggling because they have DJU as their QB. Anyone who knows anything about football and have seen him play over the past few years could have seen this coming. I bet Clemson is laughing their butts off...
  4. Oregon was the lead on B1G Network's Final Drive...
  5. Does Florida even want JF? I think they have better options...
  6. And no bad snaps or penalties! Kudos to the offensive line and coaches. Heck of a turn around on the o-line.
  7. Game ball goes to the offensive line. What a turn around!
  8. Moore time?! If so, hopefully they let him throw some passes...
  9. Oregon's defense has played better in the second half. Tacklers wrapping up, eliminating YAC. Would like to see more sacks and TFLs from our defensive line.
  10. Offensive line has come to play. What a turn around! Can't wait to see Charles' weekly OL analysis, if they can keep it up....
  11. Can the defense hold Oregon State?
  12. Tough time to miss your first pass.
  13. It could be worse. Washington is down at halftime in the Apple Cup...
  14. The offensive line is playing terrific. DG has been perfect both throwing and running the ball. Glad to see Holden catching some downfield passes. He has a great attitude.
  15. Oregon State fan: "NOOOOOOO! GET HIM......"
  16. Why play that soft coverage on 3rd and long?
  17. Nice job by the offense, especially the offensive line, on that drive. Keep it up!
  18. Bend but don't break defense? Terrible open field coverage by the leader of our defense on 3rd and long...
  19. I'm cautiously optimistic that the Ducks found a combination that worked during the second half of the BSU game. We just need the offensive line to be decent/good (i.e., not get blown up) against Oregon State.
  20. Not to mention, if Boise State runs the table, that’ll be a pretty good win at the end of the season (regardless of how Oregon looked or had to win the game).
  21. Bill: And why couldn't Oregon State and Washington State done the honorable thing and just have joined the MWC? I can't wait to hear what the MWC commissioner and the schools being left behind say about this. Hopefully the media also does a behind the scenes look at how it all went down, like they did for the Pac-12.
  22. Honestly, I’m not sure what you can do about the first turnover (fumble). The BSU defender put his helmet right on the ball. It was a great play. However, I agree with you. The offense has to clean things up and execute more efficiently. The penalties are killing drives and taking points off the board.
