  1. Charles called it a couple of weeks ago!!! Gabriel and Moore to Oregon… “Though the Ducks were able to land Oklahoma transfer Dillon Gabriel earlier in the month, they still managed to convince Moore to come to Eugene and develop under one of the best young offensive coordinators in the nation, waiting in the wing for a year with the promise of taking over one of the most explosive offenses in all of college football in 2025. In terms of wins in the transfer portal, it’s hard to image a bigger victory for the Oregon Ducks at this point. With Heisman finalist Bo Nix heading off to the NFL, Lanning and the Ducks now landed two of the best passers on the open market this offseason, setting up his team for as bright of a future as you could imagine.” BREAKING: UCLA QB Dante Moore to transfer to Oregon Ducks SPORTS.YAHOO.COM History repeats itself. Dante Moore is going to be a Duck.
  2. Kobe Savage has the potential to be the best safety Oregon has had in years. He is a hard hitting safety, who makes plays in open space, and has good ball skills. Oregon’s safeties have been mediocre in pass coverage the past few years. I didn’t get a good sense for Kobe’s coverage abilities in the below highlight video but he looks plenty fast and athletic to be a good coverage safety.
  3. Jay Harris runs a lot like Bucky Irving, IMHO. Great balance and runs tough. Not sure he has Bucky’s top-end speed (we’ll see). Very good pickup. This is one of the things that I like about the transfer portal - the opportunity for a talented player to show what he can do at the highest levels of college football.
  4. Herbert should have signed with another franchise, who knows how to build a championship team around him. The Chargers have no fans (Cacker Guy might be the only one left!) and are a joke of an organization.
  5. The difference is that Moore played early and came to the personal realization that if he wants to become the QB he is capable of becoming then he might be better served sitting behind a veteran QB and learning (a very mature, thoughtful approach). Malachi had that opportunity last year and now wants to see what he can do on the field. I definitely don’t blame him for wanting to play and I do not blame Riley for pursuing a transfer QB, if he believes that Malachi is not ready and someone gives him a better chance to win in 2024. It’s a lot like Oregon’s situation with TT.
  6. “Terms of the amended game contract were not immediately disclosed, but a source with knowledge of the matter told The Oregonian/OregonLive the total payouts from UO to BSU for the two games will be $2.6 million. The existing contract called for the home team to pay the visitor $300,000 in 2024 and 2025 and UO to pay BSU $800,000 in 2026, with $1 million for breach of contract.” Oregon is reportedly paying $2.6M to Boise State to shift around the schedule to play the Civil War the next 2 years. That’s a lot of money to pay especially given the team you are trying to help is trying to stick it to you financially.
  7. Want to see their heads explode? Go on that thread and tell them that Oregon recovered the onside kick. LOL.
  8. I have PTSD watching NAi’s defenses. His defenses were very good when he had experienced, lock down corners but it was painful to watch when he didn’t. I still remember two young but very talented CBs getting absolutely torched and NA not making any adjustments. He refused to play zone or have safeties over the top, and insisted on leaving his corners on islands. In other words, he didn’t adjust for the talent he had. I always knew the opposing offense would pick up a 3rd and long (and consequently hoped for a 3rd and short instead). I love Nick but Dan Lanning is 1,000x better as a defensive coach.
  9. I don’t think it’s an either-or. Oregon should continue to sign high school QBs in the hopes they will strike gold with one. If the coaches aren’t convinced they have a QB who can compete for a conference championship and spot in the playoffs, then they should hit the transfer portal for a proven QB. If Oregon had a young Marcus Mariota or Justin Herbert, we wouldn’t have needed Nix or Gabriel.
  10. That stinks. I liked what I saw from him in the limited carries he had last season.
  11. It’s apparent that OSU and WSU are desperate to keep the PAC-12 conference name alive, even if everyone knows that it’s a shell of its former glory. I’m assuming that the PAC-12 would be liable for any damages awarded and not the individual member schools? If that’s the case, then the PAC-12 could just declare bankruptcy and liquidate. That is what they should do. OSU and WSU could join the Mountain West or form a NEW conference. I’m sure that this will be litigated.
  12. Fortunately, Dan and the assistant coaches have been closing the gap with high school recruiting and portal transfers. I have much more confidence in this coaching staff’s ability to identify and develop talent.
  13. In general, I wonder if our coaching staff is making room for some potential high school and/or transfer portal commits. I’m not referring to any specific recruits in this thread Of course some of these kids could just be exploring their options. I wonder what percent of early commitments sign with the school they committed to vs. someone who commits later in the process?
  14. I doubt that Georgia got up for any of those games. These are still college kids. Oregon definitely got Georgia’s best shot.
  15. You could have brought back Justin Herbert or Marcus Mariota for the Georgia game last year and it would not have made a difference in the outcome of the game. Georgia was just that much better at every position (Kirby Smart did not lie in his post-game comments). Our defense could not stop Georgia's offense.
  16. I agree with most of your assessment. He is tough as nails but given his size, I'd like to see him get out of bounds or slide more often. Oregon will need Gabriel to stay healthy to make a run next season. While every QB wants to be able to drop the ball over the receiver's shoulder right into the bread basket, on the long ball, it's better to under throw vs. over throw receivers on the deep throws. It gives them a chance to make a catch or get a PI, if the DB is chasing them. I believe that the receivers still scored with ease on those throws in the highlight reel.
  17. LOL. Dan Lanning should sign him up for our kicker next year. He has some power in that leg. Wonder how his accuracy is? Did anyone watch the Dallas Cowboys kicker last night, who was a MLS player? He made field goals from 50, 59 and 60 yards and the announcers said that he hit the crossbars on a couple of kickoffs. I didn’t see the 60 yarder but the 59 had plenty of leg to spare. Dude is insane.
  18. I’m shocked that his/her charm didn’t win you over…
  19. The B1G is an ATHLETIC CONFERENCE, not an academic alliance. Something that the PAC-10/12 presidents and chancellors lost sight of. If the B1G wants to compete with the SEC on the football field then they should grab FSU and Clemson, as soon as they are available. Those are two of only a handful of programs that have been able to go toe to toe with the cream of the SEC and beat them for national championships.
  20. Cam Ward is a heck of a QB and will do well next year. I have heard that he is inconsistent and perhaps that is why our coaches appeared to favor Dillon Gabriel.
  21. And it sounds like our coaches preferred Gabriel over Ward.
  22. I have more faith in Dillon Gabriel than I had in Bo Nix, when he announced he was transferring to Oregon. This is not to say that Gabriel will be better than Nix was at Oregon. However, I believe that Gabriel's "floor" is higher than Bo Nix's was at that time. Bo was undoubtedly a very talented QB; however, he had a number of bad habits that he developed at Auburn (e.g., pressing to make big plays, instead of checking down, leading to interceptions). To his credit, working with the Oregon coaching staff, Bo really improved all aspects of his game and learned to play within the system and trust his playmakers. He will go down as one of the best QBs to ever play at Oregon. Dillon Gabriel is one of the best returning college QBs next year in terms of yards, TDs, passing efficiency, etc. Three of the players who ranked higher than him were in NY for the Heisman Trophy ceremony. Dillon won 10 games at Oklahoma last year, including beating playoff bound Texas. Gabriel currently sits #8 all time in NCAA passing yards. He is a fantastic QB and, if he stays healthy, will do fantastic things at Oregon. This is a hit it out of the park grand slam for Oregon football.
  23. Don't they have a highly rated freshman QB who showed some good things this season before being injured? TT needs to go somewhere that he'll be able to win the starting spot, even if it's a bit of a step down.
  24. FSU (and Clemson) have been extremely frustrated and outspoken about the ACC media deal. FSU is reportedly livid at ESPN and the SEC for being excluded from the playoff. If the B1G is willing to take a non AAU college and FSU has found a way out of the grant of rights this is a possibility. I hope that the B1G takes FSU, Clemson and/or Notre Dame in the next round of expansion.(it's not if but when at this point). Like Oregon was, the ACC schools are worried about the big 2 power conferences dominating college football and they don’t want to be left behind.
