Will Lanning Pop Some Trick Plays on the Bulldogs?
Tandaian replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I guess what would be considered a trick play? A flea flicker, a double reverse, a WR pass, a fake FG/punt? I personally don't think a flea flicker or double reverse are trick plays, even though they are not frequently run plays. A trick play is one of those things that look great when resulting in a positive play, but look terrible when they don't get the result needed. For a 1st game, I wouldn't run a trick play, unless he knows of a tendancy that he can take advantage of. If it doesn't work, it will be a stigma that could haunt him for a while. -
The Oregon Ducks have a history of putting forth a strong and extremely respectable group of running backs. From LaMichael James to Royce Freeman, from Jonathan Stewart to DeAnthony Thomas, the Ducks are known for having a stout stable of RBs. That doesn’t look to be changing under the new coaching staff, with RB coach Carlos Locklyn at the helm. Oregon Football: Carlos Locklyn discusses running back’s progression DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Oregon coach Carlos Locklyn believes he’s the best RB on the Ducks. He brings that confident mentality to a loaded RB room.

Despite the relatively young age on Oregon’s defensive line, it’s not like Taki was coming into a defensive room that is lacking experience or production. Interesting fact about USC QB Williams. Yes, Caleb Williams is an upgrade at quarterback and I love all the new weapons, especially Biletnikoff Award winner Jordan Addison and Oregon leading rusher Travis Dye. But Williams struggled against top-70 defenses, beginning with when he took over against Texas. He finished with 21 TD passes — but 17 came against weaker defense. He had a 4-3 TD/INT ratio and absorbed 4+ sacks per game against top-70 defenses. The 2022 NBA Summer League season ended with the Portland Trail Blazers bringing the inaugural championship rings home to Oregon. The Blazers roster saw no former Ducks, yet a handful of familiar faces competed during the 11-day campaign, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Seven former Ducks are on NBA rosters while others remain hopeful, competing in pre-season competition. Only two of those seven played in any summer league games, joined by four other Oregon alums still on the brink of an NBA roster spot. https://www.dailyemerald.com/sports/how-did-oregon-alumni-stack-up-in-the-2022-summer-league/article_3f1c8c56-159f-11ed-95c6-efc07966b42f.html
