  1. Deep breath Jon. Click bait article. I think he knows exactly what he is writing, but like you I also think after the top 4 every conference is mediocre. Every once in a while, a conference will have more than 4 strong teams, but that is an exception, not the rule. It is kick the PAC while they are in flux over the TV deal for now. If the PAC 12 does what they are capable of doing, the talking heads will be more positive. Pac 12 teams and their OOC record. Arizona 2-1 N. Arizona, UTEP and Mississippi St. ASU 1-2 S. Utah, Fresno St. and Oklahoma St. Cal 2-1 N. Texas, Idaho, Auburn Colorado 1-2 Colorado St., Nebraska, TCU Oregon 3-0 Portland St., Hawai'i, Texas Tech OSU 3-0 San Jose St., UC Davis, San Diego St. Stanford 2-1 Hawai'i, Sacramento St., Notre Dame UCLA 3-0 Coastal Car., NC Central, San Diego St. USC 3-0 San Jose St., Nevada, Notre Dame Utah 2-1 Weber St., Florida, Baylor UW 3-0 Boise St., Tulsa, MSU WSU 2-1 Colorado St., N. Colorado, Wisconsin The Pac 12 top 6 teams in my opinion will go 17-1 in OOC games. Granted, that is only against five P5 teams. If Arizona, ASU, Cal or WSU could get an upset against their P5 team, that would be really nice.
  2. NBC could land 'Sunday Night Basketball' package? LARRYBROWNSPORTS.COM It has been more than two decades since an NBA game was broadcast on NBC, but we have some good news for fans of "Roundball Rock." The NBA's current media The article also mentions Amazon and Apple both looking to buy a day during the week to show sports. The NBA TV deal expires after the 2024-25 season.
  3. I know USC is still in the Pac 12 for 2023, but not for the 2024 season. I'm not sure why any page lists them as a Pac 12 team for 2024.
  4. USC/UCLA and Texas/Oklahoma haven't played a single game in their new conferences, and we haven't moved to the new playoff model. There hasn't been time for them to see the cause and effect of moving conferences. Travel is going to be a bit more for Texas/Oklahoma, but not nearly as much as USC/UCLA. I don't think travel is going to be an issue for Texas/Oklahoma, but not being "elite" in football is going to eat away at those fan bases. The universities aren't going to care because they will be making money.
  5. The first and main reason is Title IX. Universities need to have women receive approximately 75% the number of scholarships the men do at a university. If you look at most universities, the number of men sports is less than compared to women. Football obviously makes a huge impact. You then need to define what an Olympic sport is. Professional sports: Tier 1 Football Basketball Baseball Soccer Golf Tennis Track & Field Lacrosse Softball Volleyball The above sports are all sports where they have professional leagues in the USA. Tier 1 are sports where you could make more than 1 million annually. The top end track and field athletes can make a living with only running track and field. Looking at what sports Oregon offers: Men: Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Tennis, Track and Field Women: Acrobat & Tumbling, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Cross Country, Golf, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, Track and Field, Volleyball Oregon technically only has Acrobat & Tumbling that is an Olympic sport. Let's take away Lacrosse, Softball and Volleyball because nearly nobody can make a living playing those sports. Oregon still needs to offer those sports because of the professional sports they offer the men. The Olympic and non-money-making sports also attract potential students and alumni.
  6. Oregon Recruiting: Ducks pick up predictions to land elite 4-stars DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Ducks picked up predictions to land the No. 60 overall player and No. 175 overall player in the 2024 class on Thursday.
  7. College football Future Power Rankings - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM With future quarterbacks, defenses and offenses already accounted for, it's time to look at the top 25 teams in the Future Power Rankings. 1. UGA 2. Alabama 3. tOSU 4. Michigan 5. LSU 6. USC 7. Clemson 8. Penn St. 9. Tennessee 10. FSU 11. Ducks 2023 Future QB ranking: 10 2023 Future defense ranking: Not ranked 2023 Future offense ranking: 13 2022 Future team ranking: 13 Scouting the Ducks: Oregon is another team well-positioned for the expanded CFP. Coach Dan Lanning has sustained the pedal-down recruiting approach that began under predecessor Mario Cristobal. The Ducks signed 11 ESPN 300 players in 2023, headlined by top-100 players in wide receivers Jurrion Dickey and Ashton Cozart, and defensive end Matayo Uiagalelei. The 2024 class is off to a blistering start with quarterback Michael Van Buren, ESPN's No. 18 prospect in the class, and eight other ESPN 300 players. Oregon should be one of the most talented teams on the West Coast every year under Lanning. The Ducks likely won't be the Pac-12 favorites this season, but they have enough to contend, especially with Bo Nix back to lead the offense. The overall quarterback outlook is strong with Ty Thompson still there, ESPN 300 recruit Austin Novosad arriving and Van Buren in 2024. Oregon returns top wide receiver Troy Franklin, top rusher Bucky Irving and good running back depth with Noah Whittington and Jordan James. Oregon went to the portal for help along the line and at both wide receiver and tight end. Notable transfer additions include wideouts Traeshon Holden (Alabama) and Tez Johnson (Troy) and linemen Junior Angilau (Texas) and Ajani Cornelius (Rhode Island). The Ducks defense missed the top 25 but not by much. Lanning's influence should start showing up more with the unit, and recruiting additions like Uiagalelei and cornerbacks Rodrick Pleasant and Daylen Austin -- both ESPN top-140 prospects -- should really help. Oregon brings back Brandon Dorlus to anchor the line for one more season, and he has some help inside with Casey Rogers and Keyon Ware-Hudson. If transfer additions Jordan Burch (South Carolina) and Jestin Jacobs (Iowa) pan out, Oregon should be able to hold up, even in a taxing offensive league like the Pac-12. The defense has some short-term challenges in the secondary after losing Christian Gonzalez, but production from Trikweze Bridges, Fresno State safety transfer Evan Williams and others could offset the loss. Lanning and coordinator Tosh Lupoi's defensive back recruiting bodes well for the future, and the 2024 class is set to include ESPN 300 cornerbacks Aaron Flowers and Ify Obidegwu. 12. Oklahoma 13. Utah 2023 Future QB ranking: 19 2023 Future defense ranking: 12 2023 Future offense ranking: 14 2022 Future team ranking: 14 14. Notre Dame 15. Texas 16. Washington 2023 Future QB ranking: 11 2023 Future defense ranking: Not ranked 2023 Future offense ranking: 8 2022 Future team ranking: Not ranked 17. TCU 18. KSU 19. Wisconsin 20. Iowa 21. OSU 2023 Future QB ranking: Not ranked 2023 Future defense ranking: 22 2023 Future offense ranking: Not ranked 2022 Future team ranking: Not ranked Scouting the Beavers: Oregon State is clearly on the rise after its first 10-win season since 2006. Coach Jonathan Smith, who quarterbacked Oregon State to the team's only 11-win season in 2000, has crafted schematic and roster-building approaches that perfectly suit his alma mater. Oregon State finished No. 17 last season and knocked off rival Oregon, Mountain West champ Fresno State and others, despite a passing game that ranked 104th nationally. Smith needs to get the QB right and has options, including Clemson transfer D.J. Uiagalelei, drawn to the program because of its pro-style offense. Returning starter Ben Gulbranson has three years of eligibility left, and true freshman Aidan Chiles looked like the team's long-term answer this spring. Oregon State is in good shape at running back, as Damien Martinez will play at least through 2024 after a 982-yard freshman season. Junior Jam Griffin and others add to the mix. Offensive line also projects well with All-Pac-12 selections Joshua Gray and Taliese Fuaga, and veteran center Jake Levengood. Gray and Fuaga both can return in 2024, as could Nevada transfer Grant Starck, a starter last season. The Beavers need health and production from a receiver group that includes juniors Anthony Gould and Silas Bolden. Jack Velling (16 receptions, 3 touchdowns) leads a tight end group filled with non-seniors. The defense has taken significant steps since coordinator Trent Bray took over. There are some short-term challenges after losing cornerbacks Alex Austin and Rejzohn Wright to the NFL and linebacker Omar Speights to LSU, but also obvious strengths, like the line. Seniors James Rawls and Isaac Hodgins anchor the front, which also has key non-seniors in Sione Lolohea and Wyoming transfer Oluwaseyi Omotosho. The Beavers also signed ESPN four-star defensive end Kelze Howard. Speights leaves a void at linebacker, but there's a nice mix of veterans (Easton Mascarenas-Arnold, John McCartan) and promising young players like junior Makiya Tongue. The secondary has two clear leaders in safety Kitan Oladapo and cornerback Ryan Cooper Jr. Greater depth is the next challenge for the Beavers, who likely will lean more on junior Skyler Thomas. 22. South Carolina 23. UCLA 24. Pittsburgh 25. Ole Miss
  8. I could possibly see BYU moving to the Pac 12 because there would be slightly less travel, but I'm not a fan of them having Sundays off. They are not worth special treatment. There hasn't been a finalized plan, but UCLA is set to pay Cal 2 to 10 million per year. I can't find any answers as to how that is calculated. Colorado moved to the Pac 12 because they did make more money from that first contract after the move. Now, I don't see a Pac 12 or Big 12 team moving to the other conference because there isn't going to be more money either way. I am really interested in seeing how the UCLA and USC athletes feel about the travel with the B1G TEN. If the money is only $60 mil per team and UCLA is paying an extra $10 mil for travel and $10 to Cal, and the Pac 12 has a TV contract of 32 mil, is the extra 8 mil worth it if the athletes hate it?
  9. John Canzano has only said the post season split has only been mentioned for football. Nothing about basketball or any other sports. I'm not sure any other sport other than basketball actually makes money from the post season.
  10. SDSU has to give 1 years notice to withdraw from the conference. Um, the Pac 12 doesn't "need" them for 2024, so just have them come over in 2025. I know everyone would like everything to happen right way, but pushing it out a year wouldn't be terrible.

  12. Official trailer released for Netflix ‘Quarterback’ documentary DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM 2022 was a wild year for Oregon Ducks’ legend Marcus Mariota. Netflix filmed it all for their ‘Quarterback’ documentary. Check out the trailer here.
  13. The joke of SEC league scheduling. Alabama and Georgia will meet during the 2024 regular season in Tuscaloosa, which will be only their fifth regular-season matchup in the past 20 years, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.
  14. So, they are ranking the best atmosphere, not fan interaction or how hard it is to play there necessarily. The Rose Bowl is in a beautiful location, but the stadium and the fans, meh. I have no idea why some people love the Rose Bowl. The thing has terrible site lines for seating and you can tell it was built in 1902. I don't need a space ship for a stadium, but I'm sorry the actual stadium is past its prime and really should be demolished and rebuilt.
  15. I'm guessing the buyout is going to be at least 500K if not more. I'm still mad all of college football didn't shove OOC games out 1 year because of COVID. We never got tOSU to come to Autzen after the Ducks visited them in 2019. This new game in 2032 hopefully won't be cancelled, since they never returned in our last home and home contract.
  16. Hopefully, the Ducks can coach up the recruits and they produce on the field. It is always nice to look good on paper, but even better when they look good on the field.
  17. I like the idea of separating Football and Basketball from the other sports. However, it would have to be for all colleges, not just UCLA and USC.
  18. I hope Graves is in constant contact with Jazzy Davidson at Clackamas High School. By some recruiting websites, she is the #1 recruit for Sophomore year. Keep her in state. Clackamas High School won 3rd place her Freshman year and they won it all this year.
  19. Not that it would have made a difference, but I wasn't a fan of Waz being cute in the 9th with his pitching decisions. Ian Umlandt started the inning and got 2 outs on 9 pitches. He did walk a guy, but he was at least able to throw over the plate. At least the Ducks got to experience the Super Regional. The fielders are mostly juniors and seniors. I wonder how many are going to come back for next season.
