Stunning Comeback! Ducks Were Down 8-0, Wins in Walk-off 9-8!
College Baseball can be so weird, give up a 8 spot, then shut them down, and work yourself back to an even ball game with two innings to go, really good job not panicking, kept at it, and they get their reward. Now they need a 3 up 3 down inning to keep the momentum.

Well this has turned ugly Not really surprised, can't rely on freshman for this long.

Oregon Future Football Schedules - What is Rob Mullens Thinking?
I just don't think it's as easy as cancelling games and forcing Auburn, LSU, and Bama to accept home and homes! It's really really hard to convince these schools to take the risk of getting waxed at Autzen. We've seen what happens to SEC teams here at Autzen, they get dominated. The reason why Auburn is playing Cal, Bama with Arizona, and LSU with CU, is because they know they'll kill those teams and get a nice opportunity to recruit the west. A lot of these teams are booked now for the next ten years, so I don't think you'll get anything more than taking an unfair neutral site game against anyone else in the SEC. Sure Georgia, LSU, and Auburn will play us in a "neutral" site game (as long as it's closer to them than to us), but they won't play us is straight home and home, I'm sure Mullens has tried to get these teams to commit, it takes two to tango. Now could Oregon get home and homes with Arkansas? Vandy? Miss St? South Carolina? Yeah probably. Does it help more to play these teams instead of Baylor, Tech, and Okie St.? Debatable. I'm pretty sure all the upcoming Big12 games are going to feature two ranked teams. Utah as an example has BYU, Wyoming, Arkansas, Houston, and Wisconsin in future schedules. Pretty comparable to what we have in both Michigan St., both OSUs, Baylor, Tech, Boise St., and Utah St.. When I look at those two schedules I would probably rather have Houston than Utah St., I might like to play the Big10 more than the Big12, but we've already played Wisconsin multiple times so I'll probably take something new in Baylor or Tech. The reason why I'm not as harsh on Mullens as you is that I just don't know what options we had when we were making these schedules, I'm not sure what the coaches were advocating for, we've shown we aren't afraid to take games against the best, so that tells me we've at least tried to probably make some of these games happen, I just believe that we haven't been able to find partners that are willing to make a fair deal. If I was to criticize Mullens for anything, I would probably look at trying to schedule a set with some team from the ACC, if we can't convince a big SEC team to come here, let's see if Clemson, FSU, or NC St. might be willing to come out here. I think it's very fair to be frustrated and disappointed by the upcoming schedules, but I just wonder if it was really possible to get some of the teams we might wish for.

More Rumor-Mongering By Dennis Dodd, or Real Smoke to Some Fire?
I mean it wouldn't surprised me if it was happening, but I'm also not holding my breath. I'm at the point where I just don't really care about reports like this from any source since so many journalists have been wrong in their coverage, in the end it will work itself out, I'm just exhausted worrying about the future, and whatever happens happens.

The Pac-12 Will Have Some Great QB Fist Fights in 2023
Feels like there has to be a time when the league was this deep, just with the history of this conference being the best when it comes to college QBs. Certainly this year stands out with both the experienced QBs and few pretty hyped freshman QBs who are going to get their chance. This isn't even mentioning some pretty interesting situations at OSU and Colorado where you have a former 5 star and the coaches kid who was pretty outstanding at a much lower level of competition. You look at the mid tier QBs in De Laura and Ward it becomes abundantly clear that this league is stacked, there's only about one school that doesn't feel pretty good in their QB room (Cal).

Oregon is Pac-12 Tournament Champion, 5-4 Over Wildcats!
Well I didn't see this coming after getting absolutely shellacked by UW at home in one of the worst series I've seen from the Ducks. They bounced back, got right in the last two games against Utah, then got enough pitching to allow their awesome offense to do their thing, congrats to the team!

Who Do YOU Play at Garbage Time? Austin Novosad or Ty Thompson?
It will be an open competition, I suspect the coaches will play whoever they see as giving the ducks the best opportunity to win if Nix goes down, if Novosad is the better QB in practice I suspect he'll play, if Thompson is the better one he'll play. I don't think you can play one over the other if there's a clear difference, if neither QB separates themselves from the other, then I think you give both an opportunity to do so in garbage time, hopefully there's enough to do this. The key to this is we can't just be super vanilla so that we can allow the QBs to show what they have.

ESPN/PAC-12 NOT Having ‘Substantive Talks’ as Conference Fights to Survive
We've already been experiencing this a lot in the last few years, but I think we have to get used to even more 7:00 games, with the Big10 and the SEC with their new deals I suspect we'll be seeing even less 12:30, 3:30, 4:00, or 5:00 games, unless we go to the Big10 and we're on the road in Wisconsin or wherever. Of course it will help if we're a top 10 team, but Fox and ESPN will basically ignore us for any prime spots.

Is Bo Nix Worth a 1.5 Million NIL?
I really don't think there is any argument that UW or USC are the more prestigious universities, some of this is due to the fact that UW has a medical school and USC is a private university which attracts a lot of legacy students, they are both in big cities where the cost of living is substantially higher than Eugene, it's just one of those things. The UO is a good school, it is a solid state school that has some really good departments, you can succeed if you go to school here, and there are some doors that are open due to the connections that Oregon has. I'm not going to ignore though that if you stack it up it's not surprising to see those numbers considering the reputations of those schools and where they are in the world. When it comes to Nix being worth 1.5 million, I have mixed thoughts, he probably is worth that much since he's able to attract that much, do I think college players should be making that much...that's another matter. I certainly don't begrudge him making the money since he hasn't done anything wrong.

Several Ducks get Snubbed in On3 Top 100 Ranking
Meh...who cares what some website says, it isn't like it's going to win us any ball games, just go out and show out.

Root for the Conference, or Against Washington?
I have to be completely honest, I know this might even upset others, but I typically root for the conference almost always, I'm so tired of seeing other conferences dominate in sports over ours. I hate how our conference doesn't win many titles in the sports that matter, I don't care if Stanford wins for the 20th or so time in sailing, or how the conference is in lacrosse, give me football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, and softball wins. It depends on the team, I don't know a thing about the UW softball team so I wouldn't mind seeing them win, I don't think I would actively root for them. Now if I was to talk about UW against Bama in the playoff after they taunted us and had a coach like Peterson who encouraged cheap shots against our QB to get him out of the game, then it's another matter. Now would I laugh if I saw UW lose as a complete favorite... sure, so I guess in the end it sort of evens out for me. I should provide a caveat, I don't consider UCLA or USC as part of conference for this year or next, they're traitors, and USC especially can can go to... well I won't finish that.

Huskies "Whine" Has Gone Sour About Oregon's Recruiting
Ah...yes the academic prowess strikes again, I don't know what it will take to get UW fans to realize they aren't Cal, they aren't Stanford, they're not Duke or Vandy, they're not even on level with the University of Michigan, it's such a ludicrous thing to say that they lose out on prospects because of their academics, nobody believes this other than huskies. They don't recruit a different caliber of character, if they did they wouldn't have stunk for such a long time. They made a good hire with De Boer, and they got a really good QB in the portal, it has nothing to do with the university.

Big Ten, Big 12 or ACC?
I think it's the Big Ten, we'll have to travel a lot but it won't be quite as bad as going to North Carolina, Florida, or Virginia, competition is probably a bit better, we probably match up better with the states a bit more, I also like that we'll have a sense of stability once we get into the conference. In the end it also comes down to the fact that in the long run we'll probably make the most money in that conference. Imo the Pac10/12 is done for and the sooner we leave for the Big10 the better, I respect the opinions in here to try to stay, but I just see it differently. We all want the same thing in the end and that's to have Oregon sports flourish.

Oregon Baseball Falls to Utah for First Time Since 2017, Extends Losing Streak to 5
Pitching was always the concern heading into the season and now with the injuries it's completely blown up, unfortunate that a really good offense is going to have no chance since the pitching can't even hold teams to under 10 runs now.

Pac-12 Basketball Portal Winners and Losers
In between on this one, I don't think we lost anyone significant, but we also didn't add anyone that I think will make a difference, we were sorely in need of shooters and we didn't get anyone, we missed out on some guys that would have helped us a lot, so I don't think it's a hard loss, but I wouldn't really call the portal a win either, we held par basically.

2024 Football Recruits...Announcements, Updates (No. 3)
Don't know if I should post this thought that just occurred to me now, but it seems like we don't see many recruits out of the Chicagoland area that are big time, it's always been a basketball hotbed, but it seems like I haven't really heard of that many big football guys coming out of there, could just be they all go Big 10 and I just don't pay them any mind. Does anybody have a sense why we don't see as many recruits coming out of here as you might expect for such a big metro area?

Pac-12 Guru Jon Wilner's Post Spring Top 10 and Other Pac-12 Teams Ranked in His Top 25
I'll be honest at this point I've lost interest in where the Ducks are ranked, if we're good enough to reach the goals we have then I think we have the schedule to accomplish those goals. I do wonder how in the world you can have UW 4th in the nation, good team, but they had no defense, they had no running game, Oregon would have won that game with a healthy QB, just a really weird pick imo.

Holy Crap! Oregon's New QB Verbal Runs a 10.49?
I'm always leery of high school tape, never really know what sort of competition the player plays against, what sort of players he himself plays with, I'm sure others could answer that for me, when I look at his tape the one thing that stands out to me is that it looks like he scrambles to look for passing opportunities down field, he doesn't look like a QB who looks to call his own number as soon as possible. The athleticism imo looks to be above average but not at the level that it is his number one calling card. If he was the backup option I would say he's a good bet as a 3 star, I can certainly see how he could be a success at the next level.

Athletic Dept Clearing Out Season Ticket Holders From the Ends of MKA for Men's Basketball
It really is one of the ugliest courts in the country, even if they just had the forest stuff on the bottom of the court from the perspective of the hard camera for tv it would look better, usually with courts the less you have on there the better. I get that it was designed by Tinker Hatfield and all, but it's been a while now since the court was first revealed, it's time to change it into something more coherent.

Athletic Dept Clearing Out Season Ticket Holders From the Ends of MKA for Men's Basketball
First I would like to say that sucks for you, really sad to hear that they would do this with little input from the actual season ticket holders if this would be something that you would like or accept. Second, I have very little confidence that whatever the decisions the Athletic department make will actually help the atmosphere, I'm sure they are looking at a lot of studies that will lead to them making the same stupid decisions that they have consistently made when it comes to basketball. I'm convince that they actually think the stupid music, games, kiss cams, all that crap is what actually attracts families and fans to the games. I don't know why they think this, but they do.

CFB 2023: Clock Will Now Run After First Downs as NCAA Approves Change
Don't like it, I don't mind the length of college games, I like the opportunity to see amazing comebacks due to the clock stopping, I don't think there was some urgent need for this.

The 2023 College Football Power Index (FPI) is Out
Yeah, I would have Georgia above Bama, can't really see the reason why you would not, both have new QBs, and you have more stability in the coaching staff with Georgia. Other things that I see are UW being much higher, UCLA being higher, Notre Dame being lower, and Texas falling short of expectations as usual. I'm a bit surprised that Colorado is so low, I figured they might have a talent injection from the guys following Deion, not that I was expecting a huge jump, but it seems like the QB position received an upgrade, and they could have a stud at CB.

Men's Basketball Recruiting
Great! Another guard who can't shoot from outside, just what we need! I just don't get this, when have we ever had success with a team that can't shoot from outside the arc.

The 2023 College Football Power Index (FPI) is Out
Media is soooooo hoping that USC is back and gets into the playoff, they are begging to slobber all over them. If both Oregon and USC are undefeated going into that game on 11/11 then it will be the biggest home game in the history of Autzen I think considering the circumstances of where the league is. Oregon is an interesting prospect, could take the next step, could fall back, or could stay where they are. How much does Lanning learn from his first year in charge, is Stein a step up or down from Dillingham, how does the O-line hold up. I feel confident that our defense will be better, I just question how the O-line is going to be.
