MBB: Players Entering Transfer Portal...Williams, Ware, Wur, Soares, Guerrier
No ill will towards him, but he was a huge disappointment, came in as an all-league player from the ACC, and proceeded to basically be a very average player in a position where we have normally had great production from. Think it helps the team overall since he just couldn't be relied on for much.

N'Faly Dante Announces Return for 2023 Season with the Ducks
Very surprised considering his injury history, I'm guessing he wasn't hearing great news from the NBA scouts.

Oregon Football Player Hits Home Run for 22-9 Oregon Baseball Team?
Bryce has always been a baseball guy, he got invited to become a football player last year, great person, tough player.

What Oregon Spends on Football Recruiting Compared to Other Big-Time Teams
It was just a joke, obviously they've recruiting smartly, I'm just saying it's a bit insane how much the difference is between number 10 and number 1 is. Georgia spends more than a million more than the second placed school, that's pretty significant, I'm just curious why the differences are that vast, especially when you look at a school like Oregon where we have to bring the vast majority of our players are from out of state from significant distances from all around the country. When I look at Georgia's roster I see a lot of Georgia, Alabama, and Florida, for obvious reasons. Let's not act like Clemson, Ohio St, or Bama is much different in recruiting nationally. Just curious why the difference in money is so large. I'm not trying to say that anything bad is happening, sorry if it came out like that,

Oregon Basketball Ranked in Andy Katz 2023/24 Preseason top 34
I wouldn't even put them that high, until the can prove that they can.... 1. Stay healthy: Would be nice if just ONE season we could stay relatively healthy. 2. Shoot the freakin ball. 3. Actually hustle and scrap for an entire season. 4. Have someone step up as a leader.

What Oregon Spends on Football Recruiting Compared to Other Big-Time Teams
Insane that Georgia spends that much on just recruiting, I mean most of their guys are within driving distance of Athens (I'm exaggerating a bit). I mean what do the spend on food, or is this spent mostly on trips to Magic City in Atlanta 😅

Good luck to him, seems like a great kid, really liked watching him play, wish he got more run at times. He seems like a guy that could really succeed at mid-major level.

Jackson Shelstad - Best Player On the Floor at Hoop Summit
Gosh I hope so, we've had pretty good luck with PGs from the northwest. I know a lot of people are concerned about the whole Bronny James and how much attention he would bring, but the more I've seen him, the more I've seen him talk, I think he might be alright here, he certainly has had a team first approach to the game from the clips I've seen. Really hope the backcourt mates help him to be the player a lot of people think he can be.

Oregon's Sad and Bad Out-of-Conference (OOC) Scheduling
Here's some articles about it from when it happened Georgia Cancels Series With Oregon, Which Has Outscored Georgia By 134 Points This Month ATLANTA.SBNATION.COM New AD Greg McGarity on the new scheduling philosophy that led to dropping the Oregon 2015, 2016 home-and-home:↵↵ ↵McGarity is scheduling to make a run for a national title. He... Georgia cancels game with Oregon - Pac-12 Blog- ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM It would have been a great game -- and a great road trip for both sets of fans -- but Georgia and Oregon won't play in 2015 and 2016 after the game contract was canceled. Seems like Greg McGarrity didn't like the idea of going across the country to play a good team, again a different AD, but it looks like it was about maximizing the possibility to get into the BCS. If Oregon was the same distance as say Texas, then maybe Georgia would have played those games. It's a new situation in college football today, we're already seeing better matchups, I just don't think at the time that the Tech, Baylor, and Ok. St. games were scheduled that it was easy or even possible to get SEC teams to come to Oregon. I should mention I totally respect the idea that Mullens should have anticipated the current structure of college football better, and that he should have done everything he could have to get some higher profile games in the coming 6-7 seasons. I'm just not sure how realistic it was. I do think the Baylor and Okie St. games might be semi-must watch, depends on the lineup of games that take place that week, but I could easily see a situation where that is a top-15 matchup. The Tech games are probably the weakest we've had in a while in terms of a Power 5 opponent comparable to when we played Purdue.

Men's Basketball Recruiting
27% on 3s!!!???? Hard pass, any wing or guard should be able to shoot a minimum 35% to be considered as a player to come in, I don't care how athletic he is. I just don't get this strategy.

Oregon's Sad and Bad Out-of-Conference (OOC) Scheduling
Oh I have no doubt that Kirby or his players would have no problem coming here, I'm more talking about the ADs, should have clarified that point! I mean you guys did chicken out before, I know that's under a different AD, but the fact remains that two high profile SEC programs cancelled on us. From what I see the SEC has become much better about playing some good to great OOC teams, that's of course great to see, and the 12 team playoff will encourage programs to make those trips. We've never been afraid to take games in unfavorable conditions, last year's game should never have happened, it was stupid to take a road game with no return trip, that's on Mullens of course, but I bet Georgia wouldn't agree to a neutral site game in San Jose (heck it would probably still be 70% Georgia knowing how you guys travel along with the SEC) against us with no return trip.

Where is Good Sportsmanship?
It is one of the most stupid things a home crowd can chant, you are basically saying that the other team isn't very good, and that your team's win is actually that significant or a great achievement. I've always hated it, even when I was student and everyone around me was chanting it.

Oregon's Sad and Bad Out-of-Conference (OOC) Scheduling
I have no doubt that the fans of the big names in the SEC want to play new and exciting opponents, I just don't think the ADs want to play those games unless they think they can win and at that win decisively, plus they want to expose their brand in big cities or big recruiting areas, neither of which Oregon has. We've seen the Zona schools play SEC opponents because teams like LSU or Miss St. think they can go in there and win in recruiting grounds that they might be able to raid later (which is what happened). Same with UCLA or the Bay Area schools. I just don't think you can convince teams like LSU, Bama, Auburn, Georgia and the like to take that game in Autzen where there is probably a more than 50% chance that they lose, which will hurt their chances of getting into the playoff. They'll take a one off in a "neutral" venue (knowing of course that the stadium will be at least 70% friendly), you know as well as I do they would never agree to a game in the Bay Area or in Portland if it had a big enough stadium against Oregon. Wisconsin playing Wazzu is not a convincing one, nobody thinks about Wisconsin as some notable power, yes they've had some good years, but you don't see them scheduling many notable home and homes. They've gone on the road in the past to Oregon St., USF, UNLV, so I'm not surprised that they would take a home and home against WSU. I'll give them credit though their scheduling takes a significant uptick in future years. Utah facing Florida feels like it might have something to do with Urban Meyer (I could be totally wrong there of course). To me the Oklahoma St. and Baylor games are fine, the Tech games are probably ones I wish we had a better opponent, but I just don't know what the circumstance were, did we try to schedule other games? Did we just get unlucky with other teams already having commitments? We just don't know. It could even be that the athletic department felt burned by A&M and Georgia chickening out and we don't want to schedule games against a conference that has a tough time staying committed to tough games in locations where they actual will face a crowd that has a pulse. If look at the schedule for 2018 that was a year where we were supposed to play A&M, they canceled, and we couldn't find a suitable replacement we ended up playing Bowling Green, PSU, and San Jose St. The next year where we supposed to play the return trip, we kind of got lucky in that we got asked to play Auburn in Dallas. Maybe we just don't trust these SEC schools to honor their commitments against us. All this said I'm not saying Mullens has done an amazing job, I just think this is one area where I probably give him a pass. One thing I would like to stop is no more neutral venues east of the Rockies they suck, are unfair, and they don't do a good job in raising our status.

Oregon's Sad and Bad Out-of-Conference (OOC) Scheduling
The other teams have to agree to a home and home too though. You mentioned Miss. St. and Wisconsin those teams are not likely getting a ton of interest from high profile teams, we've played those teams in the past, and I would put those teams on level with the Big 12 schools we have coming up. I don't really see a difference between Miss. St. and Texas Tech, same thing for Oklahoma St. and Wisconsin. In the future we also have Michigan St. and Ohio St. scheduled, so it isn't like we don't have anything on the horizon. These home and home series are scheduled 10 years or even more in advance, it isn't like this was scheduled 4 years ago. Sure I would love to see us playing Clemson in a home and home, but when have you ever seen Clemson go on the road out west? It's especially hard since we don't have the recruiting base to attract those big names to this area, one reason why a team might want to schedule a Bay Area, Arizona, or So Cal team is to get exposure to those recruiting grounds.

Unbelievable: Kel'el Ware Forgoes NBA Draft, but Leaves Oregon
Not surprised in the slightest, not really worried either, he's a talent, but I don't think it will turn into anything if he remained here. We need some more versatile stretch 4s instead. What I would do for an Arslan Kazemi or a Eugene Oworuyi, we need guys like that. I'm worried that Evans and Cook will be like the past few top 15 recruits we've had, and not do much. Really need to attract the right guys in the portal.

Canzano: Dana Altman Is Fuming... But He's Not Leaving Oregon
It's ridiculous, the way I look at it, it's like saying the only achievement that counts is a national title, we have a rich history in multiple sports, but don't want to celebrate it. I like the basic design of the arena, but there are soooo many things they could do to improve the experience if they wouldn't lean so much into the fake enthusiasm bits, it's like they have to micro manage every bit of the game. Does anybody go to the basketball or volleyball games in order to get on the big screen? Seriously does anybody really do that, how does that help to get people to go. I think it keeps people away, you had better attendance when the games were in a cramp, badly lit, hot, and generally uncomfortable arena because it felt authentic and real, plus the prices weren't outrageous. I get that it's a different world compared to 20 years ago, but I just don't generally feel like I'm watching a college game, I feel like I'm at a minor league venue half the time.

Nick Saban Fires a Shot at Alabama's Basketball Coach
I would like to see what Sabin would do if it was one of his stars and not some freshmen DB who we don't even know if they will play. Easy to be guy who suspends players when they aren't the ones you're relying on to win, not to mention it's also out of season.

Canzano: Dana Altman Is Fuming... But He's Not Leaving Oregon
I don't mind it at all, I want him to gripe about the season, it was a bad season, the stuff about the fans is fine as well, it is embarrassing to only have that many fans, personally I think the reason for this is because games are just not as fun as they used to be. Maybe I'm just nostalgic, but I just don't find going to the game as fun as when we were in Mac Court, I get annoyed by the kiss cam, the emoji cam, the dog cam, whatever else cam they have, while blaring music from a speaker. If they had the band playing, with the cheerleaders, and the Duck I might be more enticed to actually go and see a mediocre team. I still love going when we have a great team because it's more easy to focus on that, but when you are putting out a mediocre product (even if they play hard), then I want a college environment, not a minor league type feel to the game.

Wow, Tara VanDerveer Sore Loser Quote
It's actually a great point, there is no reason why Stanford shouldn't be better in at least basketball, they had success under Montgomery, it's not as hard to find the athletes that can make it work at an academic school like Stanford. They are the program I've been most disappointed in when it comes to basketball in the Pac-12.

Why Oregon Lost: Free Throws?
This is exactly what I've been saying this year, Altman seems like he has gone away from the recruiting profiles that he used to have, we have never had a team with so few true shooters as this team, you can be long and athletic, have guys who can get to the hole, but without even one sniper it's hard to be successful since all the opposing team has to do is play a zone or crash in on drives to the hoop.

Nate Bittle Represents the "Fun" for the Fan
What I hope Bittle becomes is a longer Maarty Leunen who in my opinion is one of the more overlooked players in UO basketball history, such a great player, and I do think he probably works better as a stretch 5 instead of a 4. Ware I have my doubts that he'll be coming back, I think he might transfer back home to Arkansas. From what I've heard of Evans, I think it might actually work with him being a long athletic 4 (more smooth than Ware), and Mookie coming in as a tough minded D monster at the 3. It'll be really interesting to see what the roster is like next year.

MBB: Players Returning Next Season
Honestly I don't think this a big deal, he isn't that great a player, needs a ton of shots to get to his averages, extremely streaky, would rather just get a transfer.

MBB: Pac-12 Tournament (3/10/23, vs UCLA, Ducks LOSE 56-75)
This game is a great representation of the entire year, can't shoot, not much heart, not much hustle, no leadership, horrible point guard play, horrible wing play, guys standing around just hoping Dante saves their butt. Please, please, please!!!! Dana go find some guys who actually have some dog in them! Find some guys who can actually hit an open shot! Find some guys who can defend a pick and roll.

MBB: Pac-12 Tournament (3/10/23, vs UCLA, Ducks LOSE 56-75)
Pathetic defense, absolutely pathetic play, can't even defend simple pick and roll.

MBB: Pac-12 Tournament (3/10/23, vs UCLA, Ducks LOSE 56-75)
There is no excuse to not win this game with Bona out, you have to win this game at this point.
