  1. ^I hate to say it...not sure if I should, but I guess reddit streams is always option (the last option admittedly!)
  2. I guess it depends on what you think could happen in the season that is left. Can they get an at-large bid? Yes but it will mean basically winning against Zona and UCLA with maybe one loss the rest of the regular season and run in the Pac-12 tourney. I would put those odds at about 5-10%. Now if you are just talking about being competitive in every game, maybe going on a run in the tourney, yeah I could see it happening. This team just lost embarrassingly to Stanford only a week ago. With the way this team is I wouldn't be surprised to see them get the sweep against Arizona, and then lay an egg against ASU again, it's just the way this team has been.
  3. Graves doesn't seem like a coach that demands greatness from his players, I've never seen him get into a player for not doing their job or get into the team for not playing hard. I'm not saying a coach has to be a yeller who is constantly screaming at his players, but at least get animated when the situation calls for it. When I see him on the bench I just don't see much passion or someone who is actively coaching, he's mostly just clapping his hands after an awful turnover or a bad shot. It's not a good look in my eyes. I would stress again I don't want to see a coach who is constantly screaming his head off, just not be so passive. I think he's a good recruiter, I'm sure he's a players coach, but I very rarely see him actually make good mid-game adjustments. In the end, he's a good coach not a great coach. Next year will be interesting, they're going to be replacing Rodgers, but a few of their young players could really make a big leap next year.
  4. Maybe I get caught up in the hype machine, seemed like a lot of people were hyping him up as instant impact player, a stretch 5 who would block shots and shoot a high percentage from deep, he's had a few good games in a row, he could develop into something more. It's probably wrong to call him a bust, but I guess I'm just tired of seeing highly touted freshman come in and not really live up to the hype around them, that could be my fault, maybe I just expect too much out of them. I'm also probably really put off from the AAU ball that a lot of these guys are coming from which has just gotten worse and worse over time. I'll hold my hand up and say it's wrong to call these two busts when they haven't had the chance to have a full career, it's not right, they could develop into something great. Pritchard was highly regarded but he's more in the vane of Shelsted, I didn't expect either one to set the world on fire when they came in since they were touted as players who weren't expected to go one and done. In general I just enjoyed it more when you had guys coming in to work hard for a number of years and then develop into something great, now it just seems like we are always going after the next big thing without really thinking about how they fit in, I just haven't really enjoyed watching Bol, Brown, or King. Ware is just frustrating to watch since it's pretty obvious that Altman is pretty unhappy with his play, despite him being the most talented one on the team, Bittle just looked so overmatched it was hard to believe that he was 5 star last year, it's not his fault that he was ranked that high, and honestly I probably would be fine with him if he was just ranked as a promising 4 star for the future, admittedly that's a me problem not his fault. I really do enjoy the basketball season more than I enjoy the football season I like the idea that you can lose a game and not feel like the season is over. These last two years have been tough to watch, and it seemed like we've just been so up and down since the final four year, of course it doesn't help that our best year was probably the Covid year.
  5. Feels like this team is about one player short of being a really good team, they need one more women who could compete on the inside, always feels like whenever we don't have Van Slooten or Kyei we struggle on the inside to rebound or defend. Basham is not ready and Hosendove is just small for a PF/C. Could have really used Isei staying around.
  6. I just wish SDSU's stadium was a little bigger, in the 40,000 to 45,000 range. I don't know if they would fill it, but it just seems so small for a university that will be moving up to the Pac (whatever) considering it's in major city that doesn't have NFL football. My guess is that UNLV will end up being the other school, but that does not fill me with enthusiasm. SMU the same thing, I wish BYU was available despite the religious scheduling or the cultural fit, since it fits in terms of geography, rivalry, and general athletic success.
  7. Yeah.....Gattis was the problem! Let's ignore all the other evidence to the contrary. I'm sure Cristobal is eagerly awaiting Arroyo to come in so that he cant further control the offensive since Arroyo doesn't have the same reputation for success that Gattis had before he came to that dumpster fire down in Miami. I'm sure Miami will eventually get to annual 9/10 win season just simply due to the talent upgrade, but it will be the same story as before until Mario learns that he is a CEO/hype man only and not some offensive savant... but we all know that will never happen.
  8. I'll stand corrected, King was decent, I remember him being a good shooter, I totally admit that I'm surprised that he averaged that many rebounds, he was very hot or cold, but you would expect that from a freshmen. I might be misremembering that season but did we win the Pac-12 tourney, and then almost beat Virginia in the Sweet Sixteen? I might just be remembering him more as a guy who needed to come back for another year. Brown has had a better pro career than King, he never seemed to turn the gear into becoming a star while at Oregon. Both of them seemed to want to get out of college as soon as possible.
  9. I'll give credit to Bittle, played his best game as a Duck, not a lot more to say, they won, on to the next game.
  10. It's why I'm worried about next year as well, I don't get why we have all of a sudden Dana is focused on 5 stars who come here and then disappoint, we have not had a single one actually play like a 5 star, Bol Bol (admittedly injured, but played for himself when he did), King, Bittle, Ware, all busts.
  11. I absolutely agree that it won't be as much of a problem as the Ball brothers situation, I also agree that Dana will not bow down to pressure to give him more minutes than he deserves. I just think it might not be worth it to have the attention when the team is going to be coming off a second incredibly disappointing finish. It really has nothing to do with how I think Bronny is as a player or even how LeBron might react to how his son is used, I suspect that both will be ok from that perspective. It's the media attention he will get, the constant questioning of his play, or Dana's coaching helping or diminishing his play.
  12. I'll be honest, I feel like the last thing we need is LeBron's son playing at Oregon, having a ton of attention on him, and how he's utilized at Oregon. I understand that his profile has actually been pretty team friendly, he isn't a high volume shooter who has to have the ball in his hands to be affective, it's more about how is he going to handle possibly not being a starter in his first year. I just hope Dana has a plan for the next season in terms of how these players are going to compliment each other.
  13. Probably are going to need to get a big win against UCLA, right now our only real quality win against Zona, we'll probably need at least one more, Pac-12 is weak this year (it usually is unfortunately). Even then with the weakness of the conference we'll also need to win a game or two in the tourney. Just too big of a hole to climb out of. I just want to see us get better and play with good intensity the rest of the way.
  14. I'm not counting him out, but I really hope he doesn't transfer out since he hasn't had the impact I'm sure himself and those around him thought he would. He has talent, it's obvious to see, you just hope he doesn't get discouraged. I'm being a bit unfair on him and Bittle I admit. I'm just tired of seeing these 5 stars have so little impact on the team. I really could see the team win the tourney, it happens all the time in various conferences where a team get hot, key is to try and avoid the first round which is still doable. It's very unlikely, but I might as well have a bit of hope.
  15. It has to be a PWO, I just can't see us giving him a schollie, he's a good high school QB, but his tape doesn't make me think he's close to a Pac-12 QB, plus if you look at his offers two are from teams that run the option, that tells you he has some athleticism, but he's not going to be asked to throw the ball much.
  16. I actually respect Richardson for what he's done this year, he's put in an effort, he's done what he can, but it's true he's not a natural leader. He's really tried to change that, he's actually tried to take over games, he's just not that type of player, and he's had ZERO help from his fellow guards/wings until the other day. Dante has been a beast all year, it's been a two man team essentially until the Zona game, Guerrier has been a huge disappointment, we desperately needed him to be a consistent 3rd scorer and it's just hasn't worked out. I think they also expected Ware to be more of a force, but he's just fizzled out after a few good games early. This has been a really disappointing year, in general I've enjoyed Duck basketball both men's and women's more than football since generally they've had such an upward trajectory each year, they get better over time, which in general has not been the case with football, plus I like that you don't essentially feel like the season is over after one loss, so this has been tough to see us so poor most of the year and not even that fun to watch. I think our best hope is to grow until the conference tourney and then win it there, we've generally been the best tourney team in the Pac-12, and I could actually see us winning there, we won't win enough games or big games to get in as an at large, so the best hope is to build towards Vegas and go ball out.
  17. It was a great win, I am happy that the team got to experience it, but with respect a turnaround would be a winning streak of more than just one game, last week they basically did the exact same thing, get embarrassed in one game and then bounce back, I'll start to believe if we can actually win 4 in a row. Cousinard is a good player, he helps the team a lot, but the team needs to be consistent now, not go Jekyll and Hyde every week. Cal and Stanford are not good teams, they have to sweep them. If we don't, then it's just more of the same from this group. Charles, I appreciate you being optimistic and trying to back the team, but I have to see it over more than just one game at home. With all that said, Cousinard really did provide what has been missing all year, if he can maintain that then we will be better the rest of the way. His numbers in the past say he isn't that type of shooter, but he is a scorer, so it does help Richardson a ton to have someone who can help him in the backcourt. I think the point about Dana's assistants is a good one, I've wondered about that, he had the same staff for a good while, there can be some adjustment with that,
  18. Makes me wonder why he didn't get more touches, there were times in the 4th quarter in close games where he needed to be one getting the rock instead of Whittington or James, Seems like a major mistake not to have your best back in during crunch time. Whittington is a good back, but Bucky is the clear RB1.
  19. Honestly it seems like a players you guys might go for, I just hope he isn't going to USC.
  20. Because they'll just be sued and they will lose the case as they have over and over now on this issue. The issue is that even if we begin to get to the point where schools pay players as employees, that doesn't mean squat in regards to NIL. You can have a salary cap in a league like the NFL, but that doesn't mean there is any cap on the amount that a player can make off of endorsements. So you'll still have these collectives and boosters who will bid for players by promising to get them an endorsement deal that is basically bunk, I mean does anyone think any of these players are actually providing any real value for the things they are promoting!
  21. Yep, this team is going nowhere. Altman has a lot to change by next year.
  22. It's the same thing all the time for Arizona, they foul every possession so that refs are forced to not call anything since they would foul out of the game, helps as well that Barnes whines the entire game and post game if they lose. Simple fact though is win the game if Arizona doesn't shoot out of their minds from 3 or if we don't make about 10 boneheaded weak passes.
  23. Foul on the VanSlooten drive, but of course it doesn't called because Arizona fouls all the time. I hate that team, always have their best shooting night against us.
  24. Well I will say I do like the Oregon part, hopefully that shows how committed he is to staying here since he's tattooed a symbol on his body, of course he could always get it removed or altered, but still not sure if I would do that if I thought there was a chance I might bounce at the right opportunity if it comes up in the next couple years.
  25. Look, I want to believe you, I really really do, but until I see guys actually able to shoot the ball at better than a 30% clip, I'm pessimistic, Couisnard is not a good shooter, he's shot below 40% in all his previous seasons, he's best mark from 3 is 32%, Barthelemy is also not a good shooter, 42% and 34% from three (he is a good foul shooter though). Rigsby has not shot well, Soares is probably one of the worst shooters we've had at Oregon as a guard in the last 20 years. Bittle look like a bust, hasn't shot well during his career at Oregon and hasn't shown much really other than a few blocks and rebounds because he's a 7 footer. It's a really really poorly constructed team. I'm sure they'll be better through sheer numbers, but one game after a complete embarrassment doesn't fill me with much confidence, it's not like they played well, they hung on at the end in a game they should have put to bed. Utah shot poorly, and basically played their worst game in-conference. This team is so far away from being decent. I could be wrong of course, I know Altman has worked magic, he does have two good players in Richardson and Dante who have done all they can to keep this team together, but if we're relying on transfer guards who are just now playing it's going to take a lot of time before they are up to speed. I do agree with getting Bittle on the court more than Soares, just from the stroke I can see he's a better shooter, and he probably creates a matchup problem if he can begin to show what made him a 5 star recruit, if at least deserves to be given the chance to grow. Ware also began to get back into things against Utah, so that would be a huge thing if he can begin to get back to how he was early in the season. If we get a sweep of the Zona schools then I'll start to believe, but I'm pessimistic since the evidence so far doesn't bode well. All this said it's not like I'm even close to questioning Altman as a coach, he's been hard done by injuries for a number of years now. He's still one of the best 3 coaches in the Pac.
