CjAllen180 No. 1 Share Posted November 9 (edited) After weeks of playing with fire, the Miami Hurricanes finally got burned. At the time I'm writing this, the U has just been upset by Georgia Tech. The Hurricanes were behind the 8 ball pretty much all day, but did have a chance to win in the waning moments. Naturally, they fumbled, because REASONS. THIS is the FULL WEIGHT of the Mario Cristobal experience: Rattle off a bunch of too-close-for-comfort wins, have a great QB at his disposal and a CFP contender on his hands, only to turn around and lose to a team that has NO BUSINESS winning. How much do you wanna bet that they weren't "physical enough" to win? As a Duck fan, this frustrated me to no end when Mario was here, and I'm sure I'm not alone with that. Needless to say, we've definitely traded up with Coach Lanning. Congratulations Miami. He's YOUR problem now. DrJacksPlaidPants Moderator No. 8 Share Posted November 10 Mario made some of the same decisions on 4th down plays as DL did the past couple of seasons. Both coaches got bit pretty hard by them. Lanning survived one against Ohio State, but Mario couldn’t overcome his gambles. The big difference is Lanning does it in huge games.

GeotechDuck No. 11 Share Posted November 10 (edited) Every single year he loses to unranked teams while having arguably the best roster in his conference. IIRC, he lost to 6 unranked teams in 3 years at Oregon. They will probably still make the playoffs, but I don’t see them getting too far with his coaching. Side note - Lanning is now 23-0 vs unranked teams. Edited November 10 by GeotechDuck 1

Cal Wilcoxed and firend Tyler Shough and Louisville outplayed the Canes. HOW can a team with so many 1 score wins over average teams possibly be ranked No. 4? Karma? For a guy who could not wait to tell the world he was the King of Football Florida. Atlanta is not that far over the border. Do YOU have any confidence in the folks ranking these teams? CFB is probably the only sport with a PO decided in a board room and not on the field or court or whatever, where the events are played. Ktmguy2018 No. 15 Share Posted November 10 (edited) I can just hear Mario now: "We just didn't have the physicality to be physical enough to counter their physicality when they physically tried to overpower us physically. We'll go back to work to get more physical and improve our physicality against physical teams" Some cane fans have seen enough of the Mario show. DrJacksPlaidPants Moderator No. 17 Share Posted November 10 I saw a little bit of his post-game presser. He alluded to the fact that Miami wasn’t physical enough up front to overcome GT’s schemes. That tells me everything I need to know. Instead of countering their schemes with good coaching he just expected them to fight through it. That’s so Mario. 2 1

EastBayDuckDad Moderator No. 19 Share Posted November 10 To Cristobal, the opposite of physicality is mentality. Physicality- Banging your head against the wall until something gives. NJDuck Moderator No. 23 Share Posted November 10 Former Oregon coach Mario Cristobal getting raked over coals after loss Looks like Oregon won. Lanning was a national contender through his first two seasons with the Ducks and now in season three, he has Oregon ranked No. 1 in the nation and it has some of the best odds to win it all. So was the coaching change worth it? After watching Cristobal lose to Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon, ruining his perfect season and getting cooked by the media in the process, it feels like the answer is a resounding "yes".
