Well, he does have a 4.0 GPA as a psychology major and was named an Academic All-American, so he's certainly book smart.

Playoff Predictions: Nobody Notes B1G Getting Hosed...
jrw replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Dennis Dodd is full of it. Just click bait stuff. If we're going to have a 12-team playoff, then you try to get the best of that season's 12 teams into it and see what happens. You don't decide that most of those 12 really aren't very good (Compared to what? Says who?) and decide to have a 4-team playoff, because of parity or mediocrity. Would the NCAA decide some season that - say - only 27 men's basketball teams were any good, and cut down the tournament field from 64? No. People love it when things like University of Maryland, Baltimore County beating Virginia happen in the tournament. It's why there are post-season tournaments. -

Those videos are simply amazing, and much credit is due to who makes them; the video quality, the scripting and pacing and sequencing of the shots, it's all crazy good. After watching the Wisconsin game video, I wanted to jump around with the players and I'm a cynical old fart. And I thought, who would not want to play for Dan Lanning? Pumping up that song all pre-game week was a stroke of genius, and it paid off in a big way. He's a master of what he does.

Not Pretty but Still Perfect: No. 1 Ducks Rally Late
jrw replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The national narrative of the Ducks is changing... In prior years, the headline would have been something like, "Oregon's Shortcomings Revealed in Narrow Victory". Now, it's more, "Ducks Clamp Down to Earn Hard-Fought Win". Mandel's quote, "But the Ducks did what great teams do..." shows how things have changed. The narrative has shifted to one in which the Ducks are a great team that finds ways to win, not a lucky, undeserving team that barely beats un-ranked teams. I tell you, this is a big shift in national perceptions. -
They’re good enough right now. That’s all that matters, not their record.

Give some credit to Wisconsin. They’re playing really well.

Yawn...We Are SO BORED With Being No. 1...
jrw replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I was not going to comment on this, in order the keep the trend going, but for me these are the Good Old Days. Maybe not much to complain about or argue about, but a lot to savor and feel good about on a daily basis. #1 in the country week after week, impressive victories game after game, a bright future for the program: it's all good and it doesn't happen very often. Time to sit back and enjoy it. -
You're right, that could be true. INAL, so I don't know, but it sounds like something that could result lots of billable hours on both sides, with the risk of the school losing.

A $50k fine is a lot less to pay than whatever multi-million-dollar buy-out Riley has. Besides, he's a gift to the rest of the conference.
