  1. Agree with this, and also your evaluations of the contenders. Aranda is the only one of this bunch I would call a home run hire, and Oregon needs a win the day with this hire.
  2. Actually, and I was there too in '73, the Ducks beat the Huskies, 58-0; the next year, in Seattle, the Huskies won, 66-0, the first in a 6 game winning streak. They had quite a few of those.
  3. Five Ducks Voted First Team All Pac-12 Players, 12 Total Recognized Duck Territory Erik Skopil
  4. Exactly. But instead of that Oregon thought they could keep the momentum going with Helfrich.
  5. That is a hard piece of reality. Where did Casanova coach at before Oregon?
  6. This time, and before with Cristobal, incredibly bad timing, there really are few, if any, winning coaches, who would make the move to a new school so close to National Signing Day.
  7. And he's in trouble there, on the field, coaching hires, bringing in Tebow, and off the field. He should have stayed with the Fox Pregame Show.
  8. With the way coaching goes today, except for Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, every school is a stepping stone program. If your school's coach is still there after 5 years, he's either winning the championships or no other schools want him.
  9. What KT decided to do is just another example of what is so wrong with college football today. Back before the CFP and the NY6 turned the season into reward for a select few and spoils for the other 96%, star players didn't opt out of their Bowl games Of course, back then they all mattered. There were about 20 of them and they were a reward for a great season. Now there are 84 Bowl games, 6-6 teams are being rewarded?
  10. With Cristobal Gone, What's Next for Ducks? SportsPac12 Steve Ritchie and Eli Ritchie
  11. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place. Oregon has to make a great hire here, but "underwhelming" seems more likely given the coaches available now. One good thing is that at best Dana Altman was "underwhelming" when he was hired.
  12. Identity. Chip's Ducks definitely had an identity. It wasn't humble by any means. The Ducks had swagger and their offense made the other team look silly. A USC buddy of mine started every phone call we had with, "I hate you." Good times. He hasn't hated me for a while now and I don't like it. There was nothing about Cristobal's Ducks for fans of other teams to gnash their teeth about, well except those up North. The bigger, more physical Oregon didn't dominate their way to the top. Hopefully the new Coach will instill an identity to the Ducks that will have my USC buddy hating me again.
  13. I actually see Miami hiring Cristobal being similar to Nebraska's hiring of Frost and potentially Oregon hiring Wilcox. Hometown hero returning to his alma mater.
  14. I agree completely that Oregon, if it wants to compete at the highest level needs to get out of the Pac-12, and a Big 16 seems like a great idea. I do think they should get the new football coach first, though.
  15. The big bounce loss against Stanford was also to a Stanford team that shouldn't have even been in the game. I agree with you about Cristobal > Taggart.
  16. After some time has passed, how will you remember the Cristobal era at Oregon? Where Mario Cristobal Ranks All Time Among Oregon Coaches? Ducks Wire Andy Patton
  17. "It wasn't hard to get him to rant about how they didn't want the kids who think they need all the fancy crap to make them better."
  18. Might as well hire Brian Johnson, or maybe Angus
