To summarize Canzano's new article today, (and I highly recommend subscribing to him) is... 1. San Diego State is on an island of limbo between not being with any conference at the moment. 2. The Ducks have been operating for months under the guidance of two interim presidents. John Karl Scholz was hired in March. He officially took his post on July 1 and holds the Pac-12 CEO Group vote for UO. I am told by sources in Eugene that he is up to speed on the media-rights front. 3. The College Football Playoff is expanding for the 2024 season and the new TV deal is going to bring a windfall. Does the Pac-12 want to split those first-year CFP shares 12 ways or 10? At this point, SDSU would probably agree to join as early as possible and forgo the CFP money in year No. 1. 4. The Pac-12 doesn’t yet have a completed and signed media-rights deal. I continue to be told that the presidents and chancellors like the numbers they’ve seen and feel good about where this is headed. One member of the CEO Group told me “the pressure is off.” (??) ----------------------------------------- My Duck-Buddies...the Presidents are acting like there is tremendous stuff going on behind-the-scenes that is positive to the situation--of which no one has any clue about. That part of the drama will be so interesting later when things are announced because if the deal is not good--then Canzano and Wilner get a credibility black-eye. If the contract is good, then all the positive vibes about the upcoming media contract were justified after all. There are some journalists who are not going to look good regardless of how this turns out.

Georgia Football Racks Up Allegations By AJC
Charles Fischer replied to Notalot's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I will not cast stones, as every program has these issues. I am just glad when we get through an off-season without Ducks shooting air guns at people, stealing laptops, etc. It has to be even harder for Georgia with such a talent-rich roster. The 5- Star players bring 5-Star egos, 5-Star NIL, 5-Star problems with 1-Star judgment. And this is what we KNOW about… Good luck Kirby, as you are now in the minefield of public opinion, and so many would love to see the two-time national champ get knocked down a notch. Maybe from right there in the SEC! -

Has the Portal Solved Oregon’s FREAK Problems?

The KING of the one-liners strikes again! -
People are allowed to write whatever they want on this forum....even if they keep saying the same thing over-and-over in different ways. There are some relevant facts: --The B1G has big problems to solve, thus they are DONE inviting teams for now. --Oregon has no invitation, and thus will not for five years. --The Ducks have a real opportunity to increase their value to any conference, by growing the audience size via streaming, and through winning with Dan Lanning over the next five years. --Oregon will make their selection in five years independent of what we, on this forum, think. --This whole discussion is MOOT for five years. Stating the same stuff about the B1G versus the Pac-12 does not convince anyone further, since most of us will follow whatever Oregon decides later. But you can....

Holy Crap! Oregon's Unknown Defensive Backfield
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
No need to join Twitter; between us all--we bring the relevant ones of Oregon football to you....and there are a TON over time. Those are not affected by the changes at Twitter unless a tweet takes you to Twitter to read it, which does happen on occasion. You will be able to see most right here in the forum--thanks to Pennsylvania Duck and NJDuck and a few others. -
Da’Jaun Riggs, a Rivals 3-Star is up for his verbal today at about 11:30 AM PST, and this is a classic example of our coaches getting excited about a player when the rating services are meh about him. Coach Locklyn wants this guy, and considering the talent he has recruited to the running back room? I think we should pay heed to him. Remember that Noah Whittington was a 2-Star receiver originally at Western Kentucky when Locklyn brought him in there. He can evaluate talent...

Has the Portal Solved Oregon’s FREAK Problems?
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
My Duck-Buddies...I cannot restrain myself when it comes to the discussion of what Lanning and staff did in Portal recruiting. They did not just plug the holes on defense, but brought in players who could fill the freak roles needed so badly? Whew! Take the JACK linebacker example alone; that guy is the biggest freak out there, and super-hard to acquire, yet Lanning got two of them in Burch and Matayo Ug. Last year we saw that Mase Funa could set the edge, but he could not cover RBs out of the backfield, and his pass rush was...inadequate. Bradyn Swinson was decent at the pass-rush, but not great...could not set the edge, but he could cover the RBs. DJ Johnson was OK at the pass rush, (not great) could cover the RBs, but could not set the edge. We had no player who could do all three, let alone do them well. Hence the massive recruiting for this player where we had the 12 players for this spot going into Spring Football, (to find out who can do it!) and Lanning got two for sure at this point. And his commitment is to have many of them, hence the opposing offense cannot load-up and triple team the one great edge rusher, as teams did with Thibs. It is one thing to create a defense that requires freaks; it is another thing to go out and get the freaks needed to run the defense, and Lanning did. -
Holy Crap! Oregon's Unknown Defensive Backfield

I have a Twitter that I NEVER go on, but am signed in. No big deal signing up for one...so this way I can see all tweets on the official Oregon Twitter accounts. Even then--the article above makes reference to actually going to Twitter to simply read tweets. Even then, the limit is after reading a couple of hundred, so it really does not apply here. We are not doing that; we bring the tweets and load them into a thread for you. But--I just checked the top post in an Incognito Window, (which means the web does not know who/where I am or coming from) and I can still see the top post in this thread. Usually if there is a video and you click on it--it will operate without going to Twitter, although sometimes--it does want that.) -
And, and, and....to think he had a TON to prove when he showed up and had to play an incredible amount of "catch-up" with recruits, to establish himself and get them to forget Klemm? Hard to do... But now he is bringing in tons of 2025 and 2026 potential recruits and establishing a rapport, a relationship that will yield even more in future years?

Look...I had no idea. No team has two, let alone three safeties among the leaders in the conference? My Duck-Buddies, this fits right in with a monster article I've written on FishDuck that will publish Monday morning. Remember those three below...unbelievable portal recruiting!

QUAAACK! No. 3 OT JacQawn McRoy Is A Duck
Charles Fischer replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
JacQawn McRoy is ranked No. 50 and a 3-Star at Rivals, but it is quite possible that by the end of his senior season--he could be upgraded to 4-Star, as we have seen that occur already on Rivals with the Lanning class. Bottom line is that the coaches love his ability to move, and with that size--he could be quite potent. He was offered by Clemson, Miami, and 10 SEC teams including Florida, LSU and Georgia! If I am one of the two QB verbals for Oregon....I am pretty happy to have this behemoth protecting me! -
Holy Crap! An Athlete at QB for Oregon Like THIS?

We are hoping that Edge-Rusher, Elijah Rushing commits to the Ducks on Thursday, as he is one of nation’s best--and would be an huge victory for this recruiting class if he announces his verbal to Oregon. You settled before all the components of streaming were brought into play. You will regret your contract before it is over... All that matters is that we have a contract before expiration date that is the best we can achieve. And we will, and it will be superior to the Big-12 media contract. See? The Pac-12 can talk trash too... The Big-12 and all their hacks...
