Next Year: Ready for 9:00 AM Games?
fred flintstone replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Speaking as a resident of indy.....for those 10 plus kickoffs.....it's called recording......and ignoring the internet until you watch it the next day. -
Next Year: Ready for 9:00 AM Games?
fred flintstone replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
IMO the networks will like those 3:30 est games a lot. That is 12:30 pst. Keeps the NW and Cali fans and the midwest is at 2:30. Mountain zone in ratings is much fewer eyeballs. -
Yep......the ducks played a good game.....the ball did not bounce their way.....somewhat due to bad coaching......nothing to be ashamed of and most importantly there is no other team on the schedule that the ducks come close to losing to if they play like they did against Dub. Which means another game.....at a neutral site......and a win.

Fantastic: Oregon At Utah To Kick Off At 12:30 PM
fred flintstone replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Duck fans.....don't lose heart......if the Ducks run the table from here on.....which they should......another game with Washington on a neutral field. This time I doubt a field goal will matter. -
I Will Have to Re-Think Things About This Team...
fred flintstone replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This loss is on Lanning. The players won the game and their head coach fumbled the ball. Unfortunately they better go 11-1 or this loss is going to hurt the entire program in a lot of ways. A rematch on a neutral field would be something Oregon should relish. Lanning......grow up young man.......it's about the score board.....not your fantasies. -
Disgusting: What Washington Fans Are Predicting...
fred flintstone replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Going to be a great game. One of the best all year. Perfect weather for football. It seems to be a genuine tossup. Vegas has Washington up 3 but that is the traditional at home advantage.......Oregon is within a reasonable drive so there may be more green in the audience than normal. I guess it's which one wants it more and makes the fewest mistakes. Hold on to that ball! Whoever wins this one deserves a top 5. Personally I think the Oregon pass rush is a lot better.......Penix is going to be under the type of pressure he has never seen before. I think Nix will have sufficient time to run the Duck offense. I also think Oregon has a bit more team speed. Oregon 35 Washington 24 -
IMO Oregon owes Christo a bit of thanks for turning what used to be a relatively soft program into a heavy weight. His recruiting of the type of linemen that controlled the line of S was really a change. Lanning was probably somewhat attracted to Oregon because of what was already here. Having stated that.......he is a good recruiter......as a game time head coach......not so much. Miami will probably have to move on in a couple years.

B1G: How Much Bigger Will Oregon's Audience Grow?
fred flintstone replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Now, In the EST and CST a lot of Oregon kickoffs are at 10:30 pm with games going into 2 am or later......on a Saturday night. There will still be some games in that slot but most games will probably be targeted at 8 EST or earlier.....the audience available will be like night and day. A Thursday night game at 7pm est will be in prime time instead of buried late.....attracting all the college football fans. Imagine Mich vs Oregon on a Thursday night....the audience will be huge. Nothing against the Pacific Northwest, I lived there not too long ago and loved it, but.......80% of US population lives east of I 35. That is where the eyeballs exist and to some degree is more football interested. Lots of outdoor folks in Oregon that don't know what a touchdown might be, whereas in the midwest in November, what else is there to do. LOL. Most of the BIG stadiums, even the perennial losers have stadiums that are at least 75% filled......as opposed to Stanford, UCLA, Cal, Az St, Az, Co that are lucky to attract 20000 on game day. Not to mention Wa St and Or St with their 33000 capacity. The major networks are where the eyeballs are, I receive pac 12 network in Indy, but I pay for the most expensive spectrum package to get it. I bet its use in a sea of 250 channels can be counted with one bag of beans. On Fox, CBS the Ducks will be watched by a huge audience.....and most importantly available to young eyes and their parents who are future recruits and transfers. Yes Mrs Dawson, you will be able to see Dwayne every Saturday if he comes to Oregon. A game featuring USC and Oregon is a big game on the west coast but a game featuring Ohio St and Oregon is a national blockbuster. Those bright green uniforms, crowded stadium, will be camera attractive. Folks in the midwest like to see attractive backgrounds....those mountains will work well......and on a snowing November day, the bright green....nice. I can't imagine what the folks at Nike are going to do to goose viewership with their national flagship university beaming into Chicago, Cleveland, Indy, NY, etc etc There are alumni and staff that will just love to travel to Eugene (with so much to experience) instead of Champaign, Il etc. -
If USC plays like they did last night..... against Oregon........the game is going to be over in the first half. It was a miserable performance. I don't know if Riley is going to be around very long. To understand what I mean watch the game but to save time the last two minutes of regulation.

Looks like Caleb has been making too many commercials instead of watching some film.

Cam Rising: Just in Time for Oregon?
fred flintstone replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If....if......he ever plays again......it should either be next year or the last four this year. I suspected something was up when he did not play against UCLA. The injury sounds really bad. Hope the best for him. -
Chicago Great LB Butkus Dies at 80
fred flintstone replied to Log Haulin's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
As a kid I watched Butkus every game. My best recollection was him wandering around while the opposing QB could not figure what to do with the ball. He finally heaved it into the end zone and Butkus flat on his back caught the ball for a TD. He played on a Bears team that had Gale Sayers in his prime (best RB I ever saw) but they never went anywhere because the old man Halas had won it in 63 and didn't want to spend. Those were the days! -
The B1G Announces Oregon's 2024-2028 Home / Away Schedule

The travel schedule looks OK......and Ohio St at home, Michigan on the road........wow. -
Duck Defense: Are You Beginning to Believe?
fred flintstone replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The Washington game will be the tell all.......and I do believe Oregon will do well in that game. -
Beavers vs. Utes: Who is Your Pick?
fred flintstone replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Just watched the first half......the Utah QB is horrible........and the Or St QB is a little bit better. -
I'd like the pac to win the NC. Is it probable.....no......possible......yep......would be a nice way to say goodbye.

Oregon Ducks Football: 5 Keys to Beating Colorado
fred flintstone replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The Ducks will be fine. Just play their game and use their physical advantages. Should be over by the third quarter. Watch the turnovers. Neither TCU or Nebraska was able to put much fear into Sanders. Oregon should be able to get to him regularly......and the running game should be there for Oregon. -
The attendance I'am interested in is the 52 to 14 funeral for Colorado when they visit. I admire coach Prime but I want Oregon to shine.

Dan Lanning is SERIOUS About Michigan State?
fred flintstone replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Smith at Oregon St would make a lot of sense. After building a power at Or St he will be playing in the mw. He also deserves the kind of $$$$ or st cannot afford. -
Don't remember the exact numbers but going for it near the 25 on 4th down when you could take the lead with a field goal and have 10 minutes left on the road in a dog fight...... Lanning needs to stop making these stupid choices if he wants to be top notch. Hopefully he'll learn to think with his head and not his heart. Some of the mental errors are understandable considering they were on their first road game against a tough team with a lot of new starters some of which. were transfers. However, This team looked poorly coached. Penalty after penalty disrupting drives. Sideline warnings. Dumb actions on defense. Nix played well. They did execute some great individual plays. Thankfully, Tyler S is a turnover machine.....some forced. Some not. One big positive......this is the type of game previous Duck coaches would have lost. I liked the energy in the first quarter in the heat and that may have contributed to some of the mental errors later on. It's hard to simulate heat radiating off that surface with that wild crowd in practice. Texas Tech.....even losing to Wyoming is a quality team. Overall.....a win is a win. Move on.

Just another day......no excuses......blow them off the field.

The Pac-12 Is Not Going Gently Away
fred flintstone replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If boneheaded pac 12 admin had hired the coaches that exist now three years earlier......the pac 12 might now be called the pac 18......with a TV contract meeting or exceeding the BIG contract. It would have changed quite a lot. -
It's Final: Cal & Stanford to the ACC
fred flintstone replied to Mudslide's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Unfortunately pure capitalism in college sports is not going to work. Not long before we will have to subscribe to Apple, Amazon, Peacock, Paramount plus, Sling, Youtube etc just to watch most games. There will be a point where most fans who are not multi 7 figures rich, decide that this is not worth a really nice dinner out once a week at an upscale restaurant. Going back to the 50's when you watched your favorite team and that is about it. Sports betting might suffer.
