  1. And now I bet there's a huge audience in Portland who'd rather see Justin Herbert and the Chargers play instead of the stinking Seahawks. I know I do.
  2. And wouldn't a competent coach have figured all that out after four years?
  3. I was gonna yell "Go Ducks!". But now I'll just settle for a firm "Don't be late for practice!!!".
  4. I now have the feeling that some of the refs in this match are going to suffer severe shoulder injuries from repeated pulling of yellow flags . . .
  5. Yes, I don't ever want to see an Oregon coach viciously berate a freshman player on the sidelines live on national TV ever again.
  6. Sorry, but I got two doses of the Utah vaccine to fully protect me from getting any Alamo Bowl fever.
  7. Sorry, I'm just not really into football autopsy. Just finish the funeral.
  8. My biggest hope for Lanning: being a young smart man who can learn from mistakes and adapt quickly accordingly. That quality would be the biggest coaching improvement at Oregon in a very long time.
  9. I clearly remember Nate as a player. IMO, Nate was the best BACKUP quarterback the Ducks have ever had. He had nerves of steel and performed in the clutch on a moment's notice.
  10. Uh . . . what ELSE would you have expected an interim coach to say? C'mon man! I'm expecting practically nothing in the bowl game.
  11. That is a stunning article. I have only one question: Re "Our Beloved Ducks" - what does "OUR" now mean? To me, they are no longer players or coaches for a school, nor scholar-athletes or education leaders in any sense, but instead have become simply athletic mercenaries using a major university as a cutout.
  12. Actually, I'm excited to see a whole squad of NEXT-GEN 30-somethings running the team next year. They have the latest and most modern views on playing football, being only ONE GENERATION REMOVED from the players. It's the best way to slam the door shut on the past. And that is something to which most fans can more easily relate.
  13. All the Arizona recruiter had to do is whisper into his ear, "Never mind the team. You'll be starting. Guaranteed."
  14. The bowl product is turning into garbage. I can remember when these games were the most important games of the year.
  15. Just keep asking yourself which is of more long-term importance: Having a pile of great recruits of which our coach has not the slightest idea how to develop and use OR having a coach who is a world-beater of a development and game-management coach who team shows up ON FIRE game after game? I'm goin' with the second option, people.
  16. This is the gut-wrenching time we all knew was unavoidable. Just as when Taggart got outta dodge. Our only option is to have PATIENCE. Lanning needs time to build the infrastructure and to build it RIGHT. And we are fortunate to have three top recruiting classes to get us through the initial fasting period. The scars will heal into huge muscle.
  17. That "O" looked more like an Omega . . . maybe he's a scholar, too . . .
  18. Yes, indeed. All the more reason to have the freshmen QBs lead the way instead of AB.
  19. He could have gotten great Sennheisers for half the price . . .
  20. As much as I want to see the freshmen QBs play, I admit I am also extremely curious about this possible "experiment" of still using only AB simply to reveal the "REAL Moorhead" and the "REAL MC". However, we already know pretty much the "real AB", I think, no matter what Moorhead does, and Moorhead is leaving anyway. Revealing the "REAL Moorhead", frankly, has NO practical and beneficial importance. Player development should be top priority from this moment onward and game time is so precious, so let's not waste it and bring on the new blood NOW.
  21. Wow. Seen and heard enough from McClendon today. Good-bye Coach. No one is even gonna notice you on the sideline.
  22. In my mind, this is the best post on this issue. AB HAS HAD HIS CHANCE IN SPADES. WE'RE DONE WITH THAT. And think of the ELEVATED ENERGY that will be generated in the upcoming practices for ALL the guys knowing that they all will have a real opportunity to show the new coaches what they can do for NEXT season.
  23. I proposed this before: Give the three QBs each one quarter to play, then award the 4th quarter to the best performer as decided by the coaches. Oh, sh*t, that's way too practical. Sorry.
  24. Yes, let's throw away a development opportunity for our young quarterbacks in a game that means practically nothing and just let them rot on the bench. Smart.
