  1. Get the RIGHT hire . . . and the de-committed will then come flocking back to Oregon! Mullens, YOU GOT THIS.
  2. That was then. And Mora went 17-19 in his last THREE seasons. Today LA is a massive cesspool for the homeless, and its glitter is now buried under the mud of poverty. Try recruiting into that mess. Today's recruits are not dummies.
  3. Re: Chip. Forget about the recruiting, people. Did you learn anything from Utah? It's all about WHAT YOU DO WITH WHAT YOU HAVE.
  4. If Chip comes back, I would think his recruiting effectiveness would be multiplied by the fact he is now a two-time former NFL head coach. THAT says something to the 4- and 5-star recruits to which he would be talking, and is a GIANT advantage over nearly every other college coach in America. Think it through, people. The man now oozes experience and wisdom.
  5. One can only hope that Rob Mullens actually reads this blog as well!
  6. Looks like an opportunity for football forensics: we will now likely find out how much Cristobal was really telling Moorhead how to do his job.
  7. An understatement. As for today, after 13 NFL weeks, Justin Herbert has the #1 QBR rating in the entire NFL! End of discussion.
  8. Toledo is my hometown and I once marched in the Glass Bowl at a Rockets game. Left at 18. Never looked back. But the University has always been a good-reputation institution.
  9. We're FIVE YEARS too late. We could have hired him directly out of John Carroll back then if we had done our talent search more diligently . . .
  10. I've posted this question before: Does Brandon Staley have a brother who coaches football?
  11. Are you kidding? I have lived in Cincy. It's the redneck center of Ohio and the racism and poverty there are rampant. Not to mention the horribly cold winters. I bet there's a good chance Eugene would look pretty damn good to him if he is a decent man.
  12. Great idea! Start the three freshmen QBs respectively in the first three quarters, and the best one judged by the coaches gets to do the fourth!
  13. When Mario left, that old childhood TV series closing line popped again into my head: "Who was that masked man?".
  14. O'Brien. Came from the same culture as MC but has learned to developmentally coach at much higher offensive and skill levels.
  15. Why not have every applicant submit a 10-minute video stating what they are as a football coach and what they think they can bring to the Oregon program. Then LET THE FANS VOTE. Ha!
  16. I suspect it took just one episode of boos from the crowd to smack his ego - and for him to deflect those boos onto the team - to start packing his bags. Was he expecting a free ride?
  17. I suspect it took just one episode of boos from the crowd to smack his ego - and for him to deflect those boos onto the team - to start packing his bags. Was he expecting a free ride?
  18. So we have a coach leaving us who can't coach joining an athletic department that mis-treats its coach. Sounds like a marriage made in heaven.
  19. If Bellotti was coach for the next few weeks, all of Oregon would go screaming excited about the Ducks again!
  20. By the way, after 13 weeks of NFL football, guess which quarterback RIGHT NOW has the HIGHEST QBR in the entire NFL? Justin Herbert. And Cristobal had nothing to do with it.
  21. So good! Yes, say all you want about the values of legacy and family and all that is certainly true . . . but for me it has been clearly revealed that after Cristobal lucked out being in the shadow of Herbert who he literally handcuffed while he was here and being a super-recruiting-salesman that he is truly - as a game and development coach - an absolute DUMMY. I am greatly relieved he is leaving. His coaching was a travesty, and the players knew it far sooner than the rest of us did.
  22. At least it's consistent. Mario negotiates as well as he coaches.
  23. It's so simple. Mario got offered the contract of his "dreams" . . . and he walked away because his REAL dreams don't include Oregon. Knight cleverly gave him the Loyalty Test, and Cristobal got an "F". Bye-bye. We can all "sleep in" tomorrow, because there's nothing more to see.
