Can Someone Tell Me "WHY" a Conference Tournament?
toketeeman replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The reason? The obvious one. Somewhere, somehow, somebody is making a lot of money. -
If You Could Ask Dan Lanning One Question...
toketeeman replied to Annie's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Will your family plant a couple of Douglas fir seedlings in your yard when you move in - exactly as I did when I moved to Oregon 41 years ago? (Both are now well over a hundred feet tall.) -
What do You Want More, a Win Over Georgia or Utah?
toketeeman replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
All I want is the validation of Lanning as one helluva football coach after the Georgia game, win or lose. -
The Humble, Growth-Mindset of Coach Lanning
toketeeman replied to McDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This is fun and encouraging and exciting . . . but we will all suddenly become much more aware of exactly what coach the Ducks have at the final whistle of the Georgia game. -
I recall posting way back then during those health-threating workouts for those players - while NO ONE ELSE HAD NOTICED - that I had simply done some research on the Internet to discover Taggart's new strength and conditioning coach had ZERO NATIONAL-LEVEL CERTIFICATIONS for such an important D1 position! I now bet that same fact will be reprised in the trial.

Herbert Gets ANOTHER Great Receiver
toketeeman replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
That's all great . . . but is anyone there trying to repair their awful defense? -
Lanning on QB Battle: "I Think We Have a Mature Group"
toketeeman replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Maturity or not, nothing is gonna happen without that Duck Speed! -
Dan Lanning Interview: The Road to Eugene
toketeeman replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This is "Episode 65 Dan Lanning PART 1: The Road to Eugene" of The Mighty Oregon Podcast on Spotify for those who cannot use the link provided here. -
Red Flags are Flying on Kayvon Thibodeaux
toketeeman replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I have been just a casual reader of the headlines/articles on Thibodeaux over the past season and year . . . from which I have also kept on getting intuitively the strong scent of ELITISM from this guy who has been touting his own crypto-currency and other NIL benefits . . . and now this arrogant nonsense at the NFL Combine. I agree with the article. And these NFL draft teams are watching very closely. -
Moorhead Took a Massive Pay Cut to Leave Oregon.
toketeeman replied to DrJacksPlaidPants's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yes, same here - and I'm older than you! I noted that in a post last year. I was stunned back then when I discovered his real age. And wearing a white beard in front of 18-22-year-olds makes the visual effect even worse. But it's HIS life, HIS choices. -
Proof: Why Lanning is More Southern Than Western
toketeeman replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I'm confused. I thought Southerners caught fish primarily with their hands . . . -
80 Plays Per Game is More Than an Offensive Goal
toketeeman replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Did I miss the obvious here? The only way the Ducks can average 80 plays a game is to FIRST have a DAMN GOOD DEFENSE. -
Learning Lanning Laws: “Today We Create HAVOC”
toketeeman replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
"Havoc" makes the old term "smashmouth" sound so pedestrian and antiquated. -
Very Interesting Take on Quarterback Development
toketeeman replied to Southern Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yes, exactly. The crime committed at Oregon was that that the incompetent coaches at Oregon had not a clue of the incredible talent and mental brilliance Herbert already had then. Even football-ignorant I could see that Herbert's Duck receivers were dropping passes left and right not because the passes were bad or the receivers were bad - but because his passes were hitting again and again their hands, chest, helmet at 60+ mph . . . -
Swedish National Champion Signs with Oregon!
toketeeman replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Good gawd. Watched him play. Are you kidding? He uses a full western grip. And a one-handed backhand - mostly slicing - with no power. No penetration, no consistency, no return of serve. And he'll likely be sliced to death in a rally. But does have speed and covers well. Will need a lot of coaching up. -
Whoa! This could Change Everything for College Sports
toketeeman replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I have said this for decades: there has never been such a thing as a "scholar-athlete". It was a workers-benefits-avoidance invention of the NCAA back in the 1950s. It has since existed as one of the biggest PR messaging frauds in American college sports. -
And I bet that was the real (secret) reason by which Josh Gattis accepted the offer after watching others turn MC down. Joining a weak coach is yet just another pathway to head coach. These assistant coaches aren't dummies.

Oregon’s Justin Herbert Wins Pro Bowl Offensive MVP
toketeeman replied to AllOregon's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I just skimmed through the broadcast because I'm just not interested in playground football, but I did not see Herbert get interviewed at any time during the game, in contrast to many others. Amirite? -
To me, the term "scholar athlete" at D1 has become obscene.

Natives are Restless: Some Cane Responses to McClendon Leaving
toketeeman replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yes, that moment was it for me. When Mario pretended the booing was at the team instead of him, I knew he was done at Oregon as a coach. -
Herbert is just one solid defense away from winning the Super Bowl. Plain and simple. Chargers have to make the defense their top priority at draft time.

Duck Wire has an opinion starting QB in Pac12
toketeeman replied to Red Eddy Green's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Just a matter of which - "Bo Nix" or "Ty Thompson" - is more euphonic. "Bo" connotes power, but "Ty" sounds more like a bookworm . . . yes, marketing is everything. -
Georgia AND Oregon: Lanning's Weekend Didn't Suck
toketeeman replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Lanning's insane work rate is making jaws drop but remember the lesson we should all have learned this past season: good recruiting is nice but it's the COACHING, dummy!
