  1. Did you see where Jaden Rashada finished? He finished 16th. Paying $9.5 million for an unproven recruit who finished 16th at the Elite 11, seems like a risky investment. Elite 11 Finals: Moore, Nelson and Arnold Lead on Day 1 WWW.SI.COM Moore, the nation's top uncommitted quarterback, dominates the opening day of camp. Fingers crossed on landing Dante.
  2. Quintessential = Phoney Baloney And that's not a chin strap. That's a bra for his chin. Obviously, this isn't Cyrus Moss's home, but it was the photo that was used to capture MariØ's and Oregon's last in-home visit to Cyrus Moss, which I felt is appropriate to demonstrate how two-faced MariØ is and was during this time. This was the day before MariØ announced that he was signing with Miami. So he pretended to represent Oregon, but he was really using Uncle Phil's resources to recruit Moss to Miami. MariØ played everyone, including PK. He used PK's private jet to visit his ailing mother. There is speculation that he used part of his trip back home to secretly meet with Miami about their HC vacancy. He basically snubbed PK and his $85 million dollar contract extension, taking $5 million less to coach for his Alma mater. When MariØ wouldn't take PK's calls, PK pulled his offer. By the Utah game, MariØ had all but checked out. He already knew he was going to Miami to become the new HC. And recently, we learned that he was lining up all his boosters and NIL $, getting all his Ducks lined up in a row. Don't get me wrong. I am glad and relieved that MariØ is gone. Oregon's future looks much brighter with Lanning calling the shots, but the underhanded manner in which MariØ kept Oregon in the dark, was like big parting FU. I don't blame him for leaving, but he could have been more transparent and up front about his intentions. Then, the Ducks could have moved on and been better prepared for the pair of Utah games. He flat out lied about it when asked by reporters. I can't wait for the boos to rain down in Miami, when they lose to inferior teams. It is said that the booing in Autzen was the straw that broke the camel's back. Well, he better get used to it, because I see more of it in his not so distant future, especially with his inept coaching.
  3. Wiltfong is the one who put in the crystal ball for aTm back in Aug. 2021. After David Hicks Jr.'s visit to Eugene though, even Wiltfong was having serious thoughts about changing his prediction to the Ducks. That is how much the Ducks moved the needle, and that is the kind of lasting impression that Coach Lanning and the Ducks left him and his father with, two weeks ago. For all we know, the Ducks could have stolen the lead. Still, I fear aTm will dangle an NIT deal in front of him. I posted this article over the weekend. Here it is again: College football recruiting: Oregon, Texas A&M battling for 5-star DL David Hicks 247SPORTS.COM ...
  4. What I find strange about Presley's whole recruiting process, is that he supposedly only cashed in on one of his official visits, which he took to MSU. He took 4 unofficial visits to Oregon and traveled all over the Country, taking a total of 12 unofficial visits on his family's own dime. Caleb Presley Visit Center WWW.ON3.COM
  5. Justin Hopkins believes that the Ducks are the "overwhelming favorite" to land Presley. He will announce his commitment on July 5. I also read that Jayden Wayne, fresh off his Oregon visit, is not planning to take any more visits, so he could be near a decision too. Let's lock em both down! Last class, the Ducks got the #1 and #3 top players in the State of WA, Josh Conerly Jr. and Dave Iuli. Let's hit up WA with the 1-2 punch this class. Four-Star DB Caleb Presley Names Final Six, Sets Commitment - On3 WWW.ON3.COM One of the top players in the Pacific Northwest, Caleb Presley has set a commitment date and a final six. Get the latest.
  6. MC enjoyed coaching in a relatively weak conference, when SC was experiencing down years in recruitment. Now, he has joined another weak conference, with the exception of Clemson. If Clemson can pull their act together, I don't anticipate MC will be bringing home any ACC Championship trophies anytime soon. The talent that MC recruits will mask his incompetence on the field but eventually, it will catch up to him. When elite talent begins to lose games to subpar talent like that Stanford game last season, people will take notice. What he has working in his favor, is he situated in one of the biggest recruiting hot beds. I keep waiting for when the recruits realize that he can't coach. We kind of started to see him losing the trust of his team last year, with Pittman quitting mid season and players like KT and Hutson acting out, not to mention the home crowd booing. That should have sent a loud message to all recruits, pondering their verbal to MC, both at Oregon and Miami. For whatever reason, they ignored it or never received that message. If MC didn't fly the coop, I think it would have been all downhill for him at Oregon, with his team imploding, all his WRs transferring, and Riley taking over SC. His credibility as a coach, would have been permanently tarnished. Maybe, he saw the writing on the wall, and that is the real reason for him taking the Miami job, besides being home with his family and coaching for his alma mater. As a result, he was able to postpone his unmasking and continue his excellence as a recruiter. If he allows what took place at Oregon, to happen to him at Miami, then where is he going run for cover? If that happens, Miami won't be so lucky as Oregon. They will have to buy him out of his contract.
  7. My thoughts exactly. Only, Rashada is not built like Herbert and Brown. He will get hurt, if he doesn't bulk up. Miami's offensive game plan for next season: 1st down: run up the gut for little to no gain 2nd down: run up the gut for little to no gain 3rd and long: checkdown short of the sticks 4th down: punt
  8. I used to think that despite MariØ's shortcomings as a coach, he was building something special at Oregon, both as a recruiter and a salesman. Everyone was saying it, including the recruits and their parents who bought into his vision. Well, I think the same is going on here with Lanning. David Hicks Sr. indicated this much by saying, "What Oregon has got going on with with Coach (Dan) Lanning and Coach (Tosh) Lupoi and those guys there..." He is cooking up and building something real special at Oregon, and everyone sees it. Only this time, we have a HC who is not only an elite recruiter but a young, brilliant, X's and O's captain who can navigate and steer the ship, even through choppy waters. With Helfrich, it was the complete opposite of MariØ. MH was supposedly "the smartest guy in the room" according to CK, a real X's and 0's guy but had his limitations recruiting and leading. Could this be the year that the Ducks finally got the complete package coach? This is why the other coaches are jealous and intimidated by Lanning. They see a passionate, charismatic, bright leader who is going outwork, outrecruit and outcoach them. Make no mistake, Dan Lanning's defense won that championship for Georgia. His brilliant adjustments and play calling is what separated his team from Bama. When Georgia's offense was struggling to establish any kind of rhythm for first 3 quarters, Lanning's defense kept the game close and held Bama's offense to only 4 FGs for the first 3 quarters and only 1 TD, the entire game. If Coach Lanning can prove his brilliance on the field as a Duck, duplicate the magic that he helped create at Georgia, and progressively make strides each year as a Duck, we Ducks are in for one "helluva" ride!
  9. I didn't think it was possible that we land KT, but the Ducks beat out Bama and every other school that was salivating over the prospects of having him play on their defense. And the same goes for Noah Sewell and Flowe. I'm aware that there is a huge difference from snagging a 5 star from the West Coast than it is from the South, especially convincing a Big Ugly to ditch the SEC and leave his home. I don't know if Kelvin Banks would have stuck to his commitment had MariØ not bolted to Miami and had the Longhorns not threw some NIL money at him, but he could very well have been Oregon's first 5 star Big Ugly from the South. If MariØ taught us one thing from his time as HC of the Ducks, Oregon is capable of recruiting the best in the Country. For that alone, I am grateful. Having said that, I still think he is going to flop at Miami and be exposed as one of the worst game day coaches.
  10. It is also worth mentioning that he plays basketball and competes in track. There were a couple threads today that were discussing the advantages of athletes competing in multiple sports, and this recruit fits the bill.
  11. I know Dante Moore and Richard Young are Oregon's top priorities but why aren't we talking more about and getting excited over what could be Oregon's biggest catch in this class, the #1 DL recruit, David Hicks? If the Ducks aspire to become the next Georgia or Bama, they need to win more of these Big Uglies from the South. Fresh off his official visit, both David Hicks Jr. and Sr. couldn't stop raving about their "fantastic time" in Eugene. According to his dad, "It was a home run visit, it was a helluva visit." That sounds like a visit that is gonna be hard to top and may have even outdone aTm. aTm has been recruiting him since 8th grade which makes them the odds-on favorite for the moment, to land him, but there could be a changing of the guard taking place. It will take some doing to pry him away from aTm's NIL deal$, but the Ducks have thrown down the gauntlet and are giving the top 5 player in the Country, a lot to consider. College football recruiting: Oregon, Texas A&M battling for 5-star DL David Hicks 247SPORTS.COM ...
  12. ^^ This is the other QB that the Ducks are recruiting. He also plays baseball. I'm not sure if the Ducks have moved on from him but KSU looks like the favorite to land him. He's supposed to announce his commitment on July 5. Dante is the priority but would the Ducks take two, if that option were on the table? He would excel at most sports on sheer athleticism alone.
  13. Another thing the coaches can't teach is speed. As a Georgia Fan mentioned, one of the things that makes Georgia's defense great is speed which can make up for mistakes. Gill looks great at shucking the blockers, wrapping up, and tackling. No question he does that well, but he is getting burned on the deep routes and looks like a lot of grabbing going on which could lead to future PI calls. He didn't include a ton of passing plays in his highlights, and the ones that he did, of course, were cherry-picked. Several of the passes that he broke up were either late or under-thrown which allowed him time to catch up to the receiver. So at CB on the vertical plays, I could see him as a liability. The article did say that he was versatile and could be used as a CB or a Safety. He would probably be best suited as a Safety. He seems effective at sniffing out the plays and stopping the run. Another thing he does well is stripping the ball. I could maybe see him replacing Bennett Williams, when he leaves.
  14. What are your guys thoughts on Gill? He has good size and is physical, but I wasn't impressed with his highlights video nor his list of offers. Besides Michigan and Utah, Oregon was the obvious choice. He is the 104th best CB in his class. According to the article by Biggins, Gill was the one who reached out to Oregon's Coach Lockett who initially offered him a scholarship a year ago, when Coach Lockett was still employed at UW. My point is...would the Oregon Ducks have offered him if not for Coach Lockett's past ties? I'm sure we can all agree that UW's ceiling for recruiting is currently not on par with Oregon's. Like others have pointed out, these coaches haven't had much time to build relationships with these elite recruits who weren't even an option to these coaches, until joining the Ducks. As a result, they are relying on the relationships that they have already established. However, is that what is necessarily best for a program that is trying to contend for a championship? Josh Conerly's recruitment should serve as ample proof that relationships can be built over the span of two weeks or two months. It can be done. What may have been good for these coaches at Western Kentucky, New Mexico, Nebraska/Hawaii, Colorado, UW, etc., may not be the best for Oregon. I'm not picking on these coaches or belittling their previous schools of employment, but I question whether these are the same offers that Lanning would make on his own, if he were building a top notch defense, from the ground up. I want Lanning to build this defense as he envisions it, putting his fingerprints on it, every step of the way. Turner looks like a great pickup, and the Ducks are sitting pretty for Caleb Presley. So are the Ducks settling on Gill? Wouldn't it make more sense to wait and see what turns up in transfer portal? Maybe someone else can shed some light.
  15. I like the direction Coach Lanning and Locklyn are taking the program. Lanning clearly gets what the Ducks need to do in order to compete with the SEC and win a championship. The Ducks have offered 4 different RBs including Dowdell that are all 6'1. The biggest was Roderick Robinson II who stands at 6'1 and already weighs 230 lbs. This may be the new RB frame that college football is trending towards, with every program looking for the next Derrick Henry. You never know...these kids could still shoot up another couple inches.
  16. Still reppin the "O". Love 'em, hate 'em, or be disappointed with him, he's still a Duck.
  17. Sorry for the confusion. The thread was first posted on March 16. Here's the link: https://www.canesinsight.com/threads/justin-flowe.176715/
  18. Will be all the more sweeter to pluck a 5 star recruit out of MC's own backyard and make him a Duck.
  19. That is I meant to say wrecking ball not "wreaking ball." Wreak havoc, yes. Started on one thought and got loss somewhere in the middle. Damn ADHD!
  20. I don't know about this coming season but got one lined up for the 2023, by the name of Mookie Cook. He fits your description to a tee, and he can rebound. He just gotta work on his handles.
  21. I want to see him become a wreaking ball on all our opposing offenses for the entire season and post season. If he can just manage to stay healthy, he is going to be disrupt a lot of offenses. Him and Sewell are going to wreak havoc!
  22. I read on the CanesInsight forum that Justin Flowe is Spring breaking it in South Florida and has been talking about all the players going to Miami. So I guess they construed it to mean that Flowe is unhappy with the Ducks and may be open to idea of transferring to another team. And seeing how there is mutual interest between MC and Flowe, it is a match made in heaven. I say plain delusional but is there any shred of truth to this that there have been some rumblings with Flowe being dissatisfied with his current situation? I can't see it, especially with Lanning, a defensive guru, coming aboard, and his younger bro on the team. I can't really say that I blame them though. If I were them, I would be grasping at straws too, more like clinging to every glimmer of hope. Once they find out that they hired Elmer Fudd as their head coach, their rosy outlook on the team, will turn downright bleak.
