  1. I don’t see it as a good call. Progressions? Was there time for that? It appears to me that Moore was going with the quick out as soon as he received the snap, never looked elsewhere, and the DB anticipated it. Great play.
  2. Indiana’s rout of Oregon has me thinking they’ll hand it to Miami as well. Mendoza, who languished at Cal for three years, will have extra incentive (not that he needs it) going up against Miami. He’s a local kid who wanted to play for the Hurricanes, and they didn’t offer him a scholarship. After having won the Heisman, nothing would be sweeter for him than beating Miami on the biggest stage in college football …. In his hometown.
  3. If there was anything close to highlight today it was the play of seldom used, transfer to be, Jay Harris. The kid stepped up, especially in the first quarter. Made me wonder why he didn’t get more opportunities in the regular season.
  4. So true……and that’s the problem. And, to be clear, I don’t buy into the oft mentioned opinion that the refs have it in for Oregon. I have seen Duck defenders commit blatant pass interference on several occasions……..with no whistle…….so it goes both ways.
  5. I don’t know what pass interference is anymore. Not being facetious. I would love to know the explanation for that non-call…….a clear example of the receiver’s ability to catch the ball being impeded by obvious early contact by the DB. And there is absolutely no consistency…….that’s the real problem.
  6. Agree with your take on Lanning’s decision to play Dante, at all, in the 2nd half. If he gets injured the Ducks are done, their quest for a title goes from being a favorite to being a decided underdog. The risk was not worth it.
  7. I find it interesting that the term Student Athlete has virtually disappeared.
  8. Love Canzano…….been a subscriber ever since he went solo a couple of years ago. Love his stuff, especially the human interest stories. To those who feel he leans toward the Beavers, maybe so. But that does that disqualify from being a good columnist?
  9. Of course Lanning will be on everyone’s list. But he’s not leaving, right? I just hope he doesn’t receive an offer he can’t refuse.
  10. Excellent points as usual Mike. “Cignetti and his crew adjusted to almost everything immediately.” That’s where the coaching chops were glaringly evident. Indiana has zero 5-star recruits on its roster…….and only a handful of 4-stars.
  11. I don’t like admitting this…..but I think it’s pretty clear that we were “out coached.” And maybe in the end, it will be a turning point……and have the Ducks heading in the right direction…..the playoffs.
  12. Hmmm……can’t block, can’t tackle……… What else is there?
  13. Just play the damn games……that is ALL that matters.
  14. This game is a pick’em……and Penn State is favored by 3…..understood. It’s really difficult to gauge how good Oregon is, that’s another reason Penn State gets the nod, that and the fact that there will 100,000+ fans, all in white, screaming at the top of their lungs when Oregon has the ball. Oregon’s schedule this far really doesn’t tell us a lot. Their opponents’ combined record is 3-12 and Oklahoma State and Oregon State are a combined 0-8. That said, I hope the Ducks kick butt. A win tomorrow in the White Out game would be a signature win and bode well for the rest of the season as we face a challenging Big Ten schedule.
  15. Moore is very good, but there is room for improvement. I’m recalling the short pass to Gary Bryant in the right flat that was thrown much harder than he needed to. Bryant turned, coming out of the break and the ball was there…..and he didn’t catch it. Just a little more touch on that throw and it would have been an easy grab. I am very impressed with Moore. He seems very much in control out there and I think that boosts the confidence of everyone else.
  16. I want Dante Moore’s numbers and composure to make us all breathe a little easier.
  17. Clark’s apology was weak and insincere. Came off badly. He’s had anger issues in the past. He needs to work on it. His final round yesterday was amazing. He is immensely talented, and learning to keep his composure will help him going forward.
  18. No way to spin it other than a miss. We whiffed on a long time Ducks fan. Not good.
  19. But Clark played 7 fewer minutes, had 8 rebounds to Sabrina’s 2, and had a 9-4 advantage in assists. And, yes, Clark had more turnovers, too. Just stats. Both of these women are phenomenal basketball players and it’s a joy to watch them play.
  20. I don’t see it as a flaw. The rule is the rule. Now there is clarity on how it MAY be enforced. Even though Kai has been doing this all season, I’m sure she’ll alter her technique in OKC.
  21. It doesn’t appear, based on their previous stats, that either this guy or his brother are players to get overly excited about.
