I guess the part that drives us all nuts is not getting the chance to see for ourselves how good or not good a player is. Some players never shine in practice but are absolute hit it out of the park type athletes when live action in a game starts. I know the coaches should be able to tell but trusting them is not easy after some of the train wrecks we have seen lately in the coaching world. The coaches are the ones that are responsible for putting the best product on the field and hopefully the group we have now will get their job done correctly. Go s

Fast in a football uniform is different than fast in shorts and t shirt. Dat was a blur in full gear like no one else and could make cuts at full speed. Fastest man I have seen at Oregon. He ran past Mariota at Stanford like he was standing still.

Hard to pick losses like that apart. Last week I mentioned baseball is a game of inches and it’s never more true in games like those. Hopefully things will change and we can catch a couple breaks to win these close ones.

I always thought that MCs conservative coaching was reflected in both offense and defense. Our DBs mostly played 5 to 7 yards off their receivers and their first move was to back peddle. David you hit the nail directly on the head. I think that MC style of defense is gone forever at the University of Oregon. If our DBs can give our DLine just a bit more time to get to the QBs they will indeed do so.

This doesn’t help the look for the pack that’s for sure. The portal will be bursting at the seams by the end of spring. This will test the best of coaches to try to pick the player that fits their team best. As if they don’t have enough on their plate.

Do we have starting pitchers to waste for these two games?

Once our starting pitchers are all back in line and their arms are good things should improve. Pitching in the Pacific Northwest, in this cool weather at the start of the season, is tough on pitchers. The future looks bright. I know my arm always hurt this time of year and I didn’t pitch.

The way college football is headed I can see some of the nfl prospects opting out of a game like this for risk of injury. Bowl games are a good example of disinterest because of this very reason. New coaches have had little time to work with the players and the offenses would struggle mightily against defenses. Some players aren’t even with the teams yet. We’d all love to see some football but the negatives are too many and would the money be better than bowl games that nobody is watching anyway. A Sunny laid back Saturday at Autzen is a welcome day for most fans and the coaches and a great day for the kids to have a low stress environment to show some stuff to the fans and coaches. Can’t wait.

Yes depth is key but with the transfer portal the way it is it will become harder and harder for teams to hang on to quality backups who want to play. Nil money won’t help either. Healthy players will be the key so a little luck is always good.

Both MM and JM were verbally committed to Oregon but who knows how serious JM was at the time.

Agree. That team was good on both sides of the ball and Dixon was unstoppable. Just ask Michigan, they had Sabin scared to death. But then disaster.

I expect Jay or Ty to be gone before the start of the season. Not sure about the rule but I don’t think Bo can leave unless he drops out. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Thanks Sir Charles. Good info. Most of us were excited to see MC and his bunch go, thank you Miami, and anyone else come to town. Who knew that we would be getting a guy that was a key piece of the Georgia recking crew that won the Natty. The excitement on this forum has been real for most of us for sure. This piece only confirms what most of us have talking about since he came to town. BS doesn’t seem to be in his nature and if the players feel it then we would be unreasonable not to feel it too. My gosh I’m even going to the spring game that I haven’t attended since Helfrich. I just want to see and hear the positive energy that I didn’t feel sitting in the stands at the last game I went to, the boooo game. Even though we won that game everyone around me was feeling the same way about that Coaching staff and the miserable play calling on both sides of the ball. Gonzaga never did get adjusted to the officiating and Arkansas was much more physical. That was a severe pounding they took.

Could be that running backs in the stable could break out. Anyone’s guess who that might be but if our offense can consistently move the ball thru the air then our backs should have more running room than we saw in the last few seasons. There are talented guys in the running back room and anyone of them could be the guy depending on how Dillingham chooses to use them.

Can’t wait to see the ducks continue this hitting barrage. Tough to do against quality pitchers so we shall see. Hope it won’t be frostbite weather up there. Go s

It certainly will make a difference for each school depending on the revenue stream available from their boosters. Some schools will have a huge advantage in this endeavor, which has been going on for a long time, but that doesn’t mean the correct decisions will be made. They will still rely on coaching evaluations, sometimes bad, on talent and that hasn’t worked out for some universities ever. Spending tons of money on a bad situation is not a good business model and is unsustainable. Some schools consistently make it work and I think that that will not change much. The two Texas schools tossing money around will give us a gauge to look back on in a couple years for sure. It will be interesting and will give us lots to discuss in the future. I am cruising down the middle of the road on this one. I was hoping to see him as a Colt next year. I hope they can block for him but I don’t think it will happen. Love Marcus but I don’t see how this comes out positive.

Not everyone wants to play defense or are capable of doing so. This team was not capable or willing to do the work. The offense looked ridicules at times. I’m sure Dana will cure this problem. He is a great college coach. His system won’t work in the NBA, where defense is optional at best.
