  1. I guess if you grew up in an area with sunshine, lots of bling, and traffic like nowhere else except maybe Seattle or New York it would be difficult to live in Eugene. Who knows what excites young men nowadays. Could be a girl. I would suggest that if he wants to become an NFL player he stays where he is and gets on the field and shows someone that he is worth a high draft pick. If he misses more time because of injury his draft status may go south of the border.
  2. Saban at this point is just a grumpy old man going thru the motions, which by the way are pretty good ones, and getting closer and closer to the end. DL on the other hand is full of energy and seems to be having the time of his life and his players are having a good time as well. Would I trade DL for Nick? Don’t think I would at this point of time because there is nothing but upside with our new coaching staff and our new head coach. Not sure Nick could recruit much better up here than MC and DL. Some might think I’m nuts and maybe even I think I’m but I like what I see and certainly don’t want to see DL go anywhere soon. Or maybe ever. Dan has the tools to work with and I think his staff is very capable of turning this program around in a big way. Going to be tough to do the first year because of the ridiculous schedule that has been dumped in his lap but Dan doesn’t seem to be bothered by it one bit. You know the trip to Georgia will be a homecoming of sorts for him and his family. Be interesting to see if his wife and kids tag along. Love the enthusiasm around Eugene and hope his wife and children can settle in and want to stay. Maybe it’s my old age but I need all the energy I can get and seeing this energy filled, young, coaching staff is the ideal medicine. Go Dan Lanning.
  3. Very impressive for sure and look at the teams he was doing it against. Beat Oregon, A&M, Bama, LSU twice. Just to name a few then his coaching staff was in a bit of turmoil. He never beat Georgia however, oh wait, don’t we have the Bulldogs DC coaching the Ducks? I think this team is in really good hands. I’m pulling for Ty to win the job but if he can’t then we have a very capable QB in Bo Nix. May the best man win.
  4. Travis was a very good 2 back for a nice change of pace and worked as hard as anyone but being tossed into lead back in a smash mouth type of offense was not good for him. Finding a back that can do what MC was asking is only happening at a few schools. MCs offensive line struggled to open up holes facing 7 and even 8 man fronts and was unsuccessful most of the time. Unfair to ask Travis to be that guy. I won’t wish him well because now he’s the enemy but I did appreciate his effort while being here.
  5. Just guessing on percentages but probably 3/4 of these kids will end up with no scholarship and no nil deal. It’s a gamble that some should not take. Wonder how many transfer because of their girlfriend.
  6. Be a nice piece to the puzzle. Didn’t we just lose an O Linemen to the portal? Coincidence maybe. Maybe not.
  7. Far as I can tell the pups have 4 team NCAA Championships one is questionable and the Ducks have 34. Hard to find the lonesome howlers actual stats. So the answer is NOOOOooozz”
  8. Don’t think this coaching staff will let talent go to waste and the Ducks have an ample supply of talent all over the field at all positions. Not Georgia talent but extremely good pack 12 talent with some experience to boot.
  9. I guess the part that drives us all nuts is not getting the chance to see for ourselves how good or not good a player is. Some players never shine in practice but are absolute hit it out of the park type athletes when live action in a game starts. I know the coaches should be able to tell but trusting them is not easy after some of the train wrecks we have seen lately in the coaching world. The coaches are the ones that are responsible for putting the best product on the field and hopefully the group we have now will get their job done correctly. Go s
  10. Fast in a football uniform is different than fast in shorts and t shirt. Dat was a blur in full gear like no one else and could make cuts at full speed. Fastest man I have seen at Oregon. He ran past Mariota at Stanford like he was standing still.
  11. Hard to pick losses like that apart. Last week I mentioned baseball is a game of inches and it’s never more true in games like those. Hopefully things will change and we can catch a couple breaks to win these close ones.
  12. Baseball is a game of inches. Things will turn around we hope.
  13. I think Herbert will get there if he can stay healthy and starts winning the big ones.
  14. Works in most successful businesses don’t see how it couldn’t help. We called it PFP. Pay for Performance.
  15. I always thought that MCs conservative coaching was reflected in both offense and defense. Our DBs mostly played 5 to 7 yards off their receivers and their first move was to back peddle. David you hit the nail directly on the head. I think that MC style of defense is gone forever at the University of Oregon. If our DBs can give our DLine just a bit more time to get to the QBs they will indeed do so.
  16. This doesn’t help the look for the pack that’s for sure. The portal will be bursting at the seams by the end of spring. This will test the best of coaches to try to pick the player that fits their team best. As if they don’t have enough on their plate.
  17. Give me old school. Cuz I’m old I guess.
  18. Do we have starting pitchers to waste for these two games?
  19. Once our starting pitchers are all back in line and their arms are good things should improve. Pitching in the Pacific Northwest, in this cool weather at the start of the season, is tough on pitchers. The future looks bright. I know my arm always hurt this time of year and I didn’t pitch.
  20. The way college football is headed I can see some of the nfl prospects opting out of a game like this for risk of injury. Bowl games are a good example of disinterest because of this very reason. New coaches have had little time to work with the players and the offenses would struggle mightily against defenses. Some players aren’t even with the teams yet. We’d all love to see some football but the negatives are too many and would the money be better than bowl games that nobody is watching anyway. A Sunny laid back Saturday at Autzen is a welcome day for most fans and the coaches and a great day for the kids to have a low stress environment to show some stuff to the fans and coaches. Can’t wait.
  21. Yes depth is key but with the transfer portal the way it is it will become harder and harder for teams to hang on to quality backups who want to play. Nil money won’t help either. Healthy players will be the key so a little luck is always good.
  22. Both MM and JM were verbally committed to Oregon but who knows how serious JM was at the time.
  23. Chip knew how to use him as did Mark.
  24. Agree. That team was good on both sides of the ball and Dixon was unstoppable. Just ask Michigan, they had Sabin scared to death. But then disaster.
